I wasn't sure I wanted to go in there!

……With these little beauties you can (and should) eat more than 5! Why - they are VERY good for you! These here are a little over ½ inch across. The Humble Radish are little beauties and there are so many things you can do with them! Eat raw - well everyone knows that! But did you know you can have them Sautéed (par boil), add to stews, soups, just boiled as would turnip or swede, add to your mash to reduce the carb’ intake from them - so what’s stopping you - read the nutritional & health benefits (see link) AND what’s more you can take a picture of them for Macro Monday’s! This weeks theme is ‘Five’ (as if you hadn’t guessed. HMM, Alan:-)………

A fine healthy breakfast, blackberries and the very last of the redcurrants and raspberries freshly picked. Delicious and good for me.

Sometimes Macro Mondays is healthy for you, I went early to the local park to gather blackberries - bonus fresh air and enjoying the abundance of wild flowers. HMM!

Macro Mondays-Brew

I've been drinking Rooibos Tea for over 10 years. It really is a good alternative to black tea. Today I made it in my Teavana Tea Pot. It's such a neat little gadget. You brew the tea in the pot then you put it on top of your cup and the brewed tea goes down the bottom of the pot into your cup!

The Benefits Of Rooibos Tea!

Improves blood pressure and circulation. Inflammation is a key player in the role of heart disease. ...

Keeps hair strong and skin healthy. The benefits of rooibos tea go beyond drinking it. ...

Aids in weight loss. ...

Treats and prevents diabetes. ...

May help prevent cancer. ...

Boosts bone health.

Brussels Sprouts are not only very good for you - healthy and full of vitamins and anti-oxidants - they are also extremely tasty. Packed full of subtle touches of sweet- and bitterness, Brussels Sprouts are the ideal accompaniment and ingredient to all your favourite wintery dishes.

...tasty treats!

Have a scrumptious Saturday dear friends.. :)

Our blueberry bushes are giving us a good crop this year. Right now about 100 berries a day. Loosely rolled mounds of bird netting strewn about the feet of the bushes are, for now, keeping the chipmunks away.

For macro mondays august 7th theme 'staying healthy'. Fruit & veg are good for you, unless you get stuck in a tomato....

The forenoon weather was nice, but I did not manage to get out earlier. Harsh wind from a western direction. I was happy when I RTB:) This hut and Skihut is closed during the corona outbreak:(

Here's the female Black Bear from yesterday's upload with a Pink Salmon in her jaws. We were shooting in fog that morning and it was dense at times, so I boosted contrast and saturation in post processing to cut through some of it. An exciting moment for the photographer, the bear, and no doubt the fish, too.

Which reminds me... one of our friends, a sublime teller of tall tales, was in fine form that week. "When the salmon fry leave their stream for the open ocean," she said, "they swim backwards, so that they can find their way back in a few years to spawn." (This is not a verbatim quote, but close enough.) She looked so innocent, so convincing. One of my friends repeated this to a couple of German tourists, who replied, "Ja? We didn't know that." Oh, no! This is how rumours get started! Canadian salmon swim out to sea backwards! If this story spreads across Germany, you heard it here first, and it's NOT TRUE (although very funny)!!! Please accept my apology on behalf of all Canadians. We are a funny lot.

Over the years I’ve tried out countless granola recipes. The problem was that although the recipes created a nicely browned crunchy granola, they did not possess the lightness or clumpiness that I find so appealing in a really good granola. I wanted to find out how achieve granola perfection so I set out on a fact finding mission, my goal was to determine how to make a light, crispy, clumpy granola. Here’s what I discovered:

Done this picture for a competiton called FOOD!

Set the food up onto a large piece of white card then placed my umbrella behind the food for the shadow with my interrfit gold reflector in front to bounce some light and warmth back.

Used my nikon 50mm for that extra crispness.

Four fried eggs sizzling away in their in their pan. I thought they looked rather beautiful (in their own way), hence this photograph.

My father and I had two each... and they were eggs-ellent.

Let the egg puns commence!!!

When it was announced that Chocolate was good for that you meant Chocolate alone, not candy bars! Having said that there are some candy bars that are not bad comparatively so. Reading labels has helped me so much in identifying the good from the bad and the ugly! I do it because diabetes isn't something I want.
