The little hummingbirds were daily visitors all through the summer. Dive bombing each other in aerial battles for dominance, perching in the maple and pine trees to watch for intruders (or simply to rest their wings once in a while?), or buzzing past my head as I sat on the deck, the presence of the little ruby-throated hummingbirds added color and joy to the fabric of my summer. When they stopped showing up at the feeders, I knew that summer was over.
These beautiful ruby throated hummingbirds are now heading south for the winter. See you next year!

I have another star in my sky, I lost my dearest mother-in-law the first of January. She was a remarkable person, an incredible woman, mother, grandmother and grand grandmother. She will always be in my heart.

The last shot from Valletta, and Malta, I will post to Flickr from this trip we took back at the New Year of 2018. Time sure does fly...
The Mdina Glass Christmas Tree and the Renzo Piano designed Parliament building (from 2014) in Valletta, Malta.
Just after sundown, this evening.
Looking west, down Girvan Valley towards the Firth of Clyde and Irish Sea, Alisa Craig with the Isle of Sanda, the southern tip of the Kintyre Peninsula and, vaguely, the Northern Irish Antrim coast, are silhouettes in the dusk.
A nice glass of Barolo to toast this magnificent sky.

Let me share one more sunrise photograph from the winter of 2020, before our world was turned upside down. The scene was Lakewood Park in Tecumseh, Ontario towards the end of February. Situated on Lake St. Clair, the park beach was covered with the last lake ice from a rather mild winter in southwestern Ontario.
We said a final farewell to my wonderful mother in law two days ago. She lived a long and mostly joyful life, and passed at the age of 95. Everyone who met her loved her - she had a kind word and a smile for all. Unfortunately, because of Covid, we couldn't go to Vancouver Island to see her or the family. We had to rely on video and phone calls.
She loved pink, so this one's for her. I will miss her so much....
This beautiful song, by Regina Spektor, is about loss, and I wanted to share it with anyone of you who would like to listen.
