People walking along the Monongahela River in Pittsburgh

I had to go shopping for some eggs and went to a new tiny market place at a local farm to purchase eggs.

The only 'good' thing that has come from Covid-19 in our area is that folks have gotten creative.

The small Ag Stores are seeing more locals, the small farm markets have seen an upsurge of folks purchasing home grown foods.

To me, this is a huge plus in a wicked world.

This was at 9:30 in the morning and it was still very dense near the river.

I was here on December 11th. I returned with friends yesterday and took another shot.

This time there is one of my friends in the shot for perspective.

Can you find him?

I just received this beautifull fireplace, thanks to Wisit.

It looks perfect in the dome on my desk.

Beautiful morning.

Stay well.

New phrase said to anyone when parting ways after a distanced conversation.

...I'm kidding, but sort of not.

As I embark on a new chapter in my life, I am going to be doing many more road trips and drives for pleasure and fun.

Charlie is the co-pilot and actually likes this car as he can see out the windows so much easier.

I like it for the safety features and the fuel efficiency.

And...it's kinda cool looking.

Because of the record wet we've had ice is forming in so many places. This was a quick side trip on my way to town the other day...backroads into Tainter Hollow and the red rocks.

Infrared photo of a cut across road on the way to town. It is a gravel road.

The fog was lifting and the sun was breaking through.

This school house has a reunion each August, however I am not sure how many are still left around that went here.

Be back soon after my mini trip!

...and after a good rest!

I've found another way to let you go, away.

Hold on.

You've find another way to play my soul, away.

I had some time to kill after my physical in LaCrosse so I thought I'd drive out and explore Goose Island.

I didn't have much time to set up shots or explore the place as well as I wanted.

A bright and relaxing place to end my time in Europe, and begin my journey home.

Thanks to all of you for coming along, by way of my photos and stories. It was a LOT of photos, but I appreciate all of your wonderful comments. I'm already looking forward to my next adventure.

This scene is on a back road that I take to town in the spring.

It passes a little pond that drains into a little trout stream. For the past 25 or so years, a Canada Goose has occupied the area where these eggs are.

This year, I thought the nest was empty or someone put a brown rock on it.

NO! It was a Sandhill Crane!

I saw this at 7:30 in the morning...and ... look below...

2 hours later, there was a surprise!

The colors of Autumn are just about over, however there is still beautiful scenes around every corner.

When I spotted the sailboat I immediately thought of this shot, but admittedly didn't think I'd get them lined up like this. The boat was moving south along the Potomac quicker than I first thought, so I had to move fast to get in place.

Have a great weekend and thanks for looking!

My Kenosha friends and I went to Jersey Valley on Saturday morning. Their daughter had picked some wildflowers and was doing this...

I feel like it was the THE shot of the morning regardless of all the fantastic colors around us.

"As much as it sounds as a cliche, that learning is the most important thing in your career. Without it, you will go nowhere. Early in life, people tend to think that learning is the responsibility of their parents and teachers. But then you have to want to learn for yourself." - Natarajan Chandrasekaran of Tata Consultancy (Sunday New York Times)

After our March 1st snow had stopped. Lines of clouds, lines of corn fodder, drift lines, it all came together here.

I went to see a sunrise at Jersey Valley and should have known I'd just encounter thick fog over the water. I saw this on my way home and loved it.

So I thought I would start a fun series about music, specifically albums and songs. It might be weekly, and it might not. Ich weiß nicht. The normal April "Record Store Day" is postponed again, so this might be something enjoyable to music lovers.

Since I really haven't been anywhere in the past year, I think it is appropriate to begin with Herb Alpert's "Going Places" from 1965. Do you have some household chores to do? Throw this record on. Going for a nice walk or drive? Put it on your playlist. It's a great album by a wonderful group.

No. 17 The Black Knight

After hearing the news that our cousin lost her exhausting fight against cancer, we decided to change our tickets, leave Pakistan and fly back to Europe as soon as we could. We could only hope to be with our family during the funeral.

A few phone calls and emails later we were confirmed on a KLM flight departing Karachi on Wednesday. All we needed to do was to get on a flight out of Quetta and get our boarding passes at Karachi airport. We let our family know, we would be there soon.

We said our goodbyes to my brother’s housekeeper Nazar and his family and got to Karachi airport without difficulties. That’s where the first challenge was upon us.

An armed guard blocked our access to the international departure hall. “Boarding pass, please”. I showed him my boarding pass and tried to explain to him that we were booked on an earlier flight and had to change our passes at the KLM desk. “This boarding pass is for next week. You can’t enter today.” “If we can’t enter, how will we get to the desk?”

The guard briskly pointed towards an office building closeby. “Ask there.”

Not impressed by the guard’s lack of friendliness, we entered the office building. It was rather dark and void for one very bored security guard, slumped in a run down seat. With a low voice he explained we should try our luck on the second floor. It was surreal. There was not a living soul to be found on the second floor. Maybe it was lunch time or something.

We returned to the departure hall empty handed and tried the grumpy guard again. “No boarding pass, no entrance!” “But there is no one in the office you just sent us.” “No boarding pass, no entrance!” He reminded me of the infamous Black Knight…”None shall pass!”

So, for the second time we entered the mostly empty office, not quite sure what to do now. Then my eye fell on the bored guard, still slummed in his old chair. I noticed some stripes on his shoulders. Maybe he could help. “Excuse me sir, you look powerful and high ranking. Would you be in power to help us?” My words seemed to have their effect as the guard seemed to grow and glow. His eyes widened as he rose from his seat. “Of course, sir! How can I help you?”
