A throwback capture from Banham Zoo of a bald eagle that was more than happy to have his photo taken, and then decided to stare me out...

A very random building not too far away from Covent Garden whilst walking from the Holborn underground station. Interesting design and made me look up!

After waiting for what felt like an age on a cold Sunday in Colchester zoo one of the red Panda Cub's finally turned to face me for a split second.

Whilst walking around in Gdansk, we opted to take a subway under the main road and found this musician horsing around :)

So having spent a morning out with the camera Taiga and her cubs, Mischa, Pasha and Tatana were all feeling very photogenic!

Looking back down the way we came during our scramble up Grimface Mountain.

Luka casually on his rock, overlooking the visitors.

Snow was coming down so heavily, my other equipment would not have been able to cope.

The road between the camps in Birkenau, a harrowing and lasting image that cannot easily be forgotten.

Notice the white strings tied to her wrists? These are supposed to shield off bad spirits and bring health. They are most often worn when someone is sick to help them recover.

Luka and Lena appeared after waiting in the chilly wind for around 40 minutes. Once in sight they quite casually plonked themselves on a log and sat in the sun watching on.

The Shoes on the Danube monument is a harrowing reminder of the atrocities that once occurred on the banks of the Danube. Having visited in 2017 originally it was one of the sites that made the most impact in Budapest and one I knew I would return to. The second visit hit home just as much as the first and is one I will not forget.

Amur cub Luka managed to find some higher ground to hide from sister Lena with his piece of firehose...how long will that last!

I try not to let the grandeur of the landscape I live in spoil me, to not take it for granted, but when you live in the Pacific Northwest this is easier said than done. The constant immersion in such a beautiful place has its benefits. An appreciation for the land around you is bound to seep into your consciousness. But at the same time, it is possible to become inured to the beauty, to take it for granted. Perhaps one of the reasons I do photography is to give myself a constant reminder to pay attention to what I am fortunate to live within. I like to say that the photos themselves matter much less to me, but rather it is the act of making photos, the keeping of one's eyes and mind and heart open, to appreciate with as fresh a perspective as one can the wonders around you, to slow down, to make that effort, to take deep breaths of that fresh air while waiting on a pinhole exposure to complete. In that sense, I could have completely blown this image and still come out ahead for the time I spent out there in this place in the effort to see it and enjoy it.

The wonderful thing about this photo is that it was not even hard to get to. In fact, this was the view out of the back of a campsite we were occupying for a week up on the Olympic Peninsula. In our home away from home, this was the scenery from the "back porch". And we are so fortunate to have such access to these places. And thus I try to remind myself that the gems are not the pictures I bring home, but the moments I stand out there.

A quick shot of the Gdansk carousel whilst walking along the embankment.

A quick snap of the famous view from the Pont Sant Angelo bridge. Not going to lie, had to fight to get this photo through hoards of photographers with tripods that had been camping for the "perfect moment"!

The stunning drive along the Sea to Sky highway (Highway 99) from Whistler down to Vancouver. Too much scenery to just drive the road, multiple stops required to enjoy the sights and take pictures.

I began this small collection of photographs a while back and I hope to expand/explore much more when I can get my hands on a macro lens.
