Mini Series: Evening Drive
It was one of those days CJ and I didn’t want to lay around the apartment after work, so we hopped in the jeep and drove. We followed random country roads, eventually leading to the Mason-Dixon line. It was a peaceful, simple evening and one of our favorite things to do.

Mini Series: Frontier Town
2020 was a rough year for me (and many, many others) - This series captures part of a much needed camping trip. Being around family, eating, laughing, and exploring the grounds in our little golf-cart. It was so simple, but a perfect reminder of where I needed to be. It was a long year being away from my family due to Covid. I missed the dogs, my Mom’s cooking, laughing with my sister, hearing stories from my Dad, playing with my nephews, and even the familiar smell of the camper. It was off-season at Frontier Town, so it was pretty quiet, but relaxing. The campground sits right on a cove off of Chincoteague Bay. My family has visited the coasts of Maryland since I was born, so it always felt like a second home: the plants, trees, sound of the bay, sand, ocean breezes. It’s right where I needed to be.

Mini Series: Downtown
This series was photographed in March 2018. Ben, an old friend of mine, was in Maryland for work. He was helping set up and manage a new shop in Columbia. He had never been to Maryland before and asked to meet up. I had never personally been to Ellicott City before, but my parents were married there. They told me it’s a rustic town that I would love photographing, so I asked if Ben would check it out with me. The area we explored sits in the woods with a creek/river running right through main street. We roamed downtown - the bridges, alleyways, abandoned buildings, parks, and the old train station. It was a quiet and mysterious place, like a setting Ben or I used to write about when we exchanged our fictional writing to each other. The town floods frequently and many places were boarded up, but we did find some really neat antique shops and enjoyed exploring this dreary, ominous city.
It was our six month anniversary of our marriage and we figured why not make it memorable. We drove out to the Salton Sea, camped on the beach and then drove over to some of our favorite abandoned locations and the mud pots. Noel brought her wedding dress and I brought my high school tux I still had for some reason. My friend Steve ran my camera and I processed what came out. It was an amazing time with one of the only girls I know who would go to these lengths to have so much fun by my side. I am truly blessed.

This was one of those mornings where reality transcends belief and the camera serves as objective witness to a scene I would not believe had I not experienced it. If a unicorn walked past me while I took this photo it would not have seemed out of place.

A new year is always exciting, isn't? I hope everyone had a safe celebration. :)
"...We have a restless gene that compels us to explore our surroundings; the compulsion to know more the people we meet or find interesting, to see what lies beyond that next block, that far ridge or that ocean--is a defining part of human identity and success.
And without our curiosity to explore, we would be standing still and accomplish nothing. " ~Paraphrasing National Geographic
Happy New Year and Go explore 2013!
Anybody owns a Sony Alpha NEX-6? How about a Fujifilm X-E1? If so, what are you thoughts? Thumbs up or down? :)
One of the Christmas market stalls in the Vörösmarty square. Literally wall to wall Christmas decorations and is certainly a sight to see!
