HONOLULU – The United States Military Academy at West Point, Army Black Knights football team, were greeted at the Honolulu Airport when they arrived for the Saturday, November 30, game at Aloha Stadium, Honolulu, Hawaii with the University of Hawaii Rainbow Warriors.
U.S. Army Pacific Soldiers and Commanding General Gen. Vincent K. Brooks, USARPAC Command Sgt. Maj. Frank Leota, 25th Infantry Division Commanding General Maj. Gen. Kurt Fuller, 25th ID Command Sgt. Maj. Benjamin Jones and other current and retired Army leaders from the island showed up in force to greet the Knights. This greeting culminated with a Soldier, veteran, retiree motorcycle escort from HNL to the JW Marriott Ihilani at Ko Olina Resort. U.S. Army Pacific Command Sgt. Maj. Frank Leota, organized the motorcycle escort and said, “The Soldiers of USARPAC will welcome the United States Military Academy football team with a patriot escort ride involving 83 motorcycle riders, all of whom have volunteered their time to participate and make this a successful welcome.”
The Army has a long tradition of welcoming and saying farewell to its ranks and families whether it be moving from station to station or deploying to contingencies overseas. In Hawaii, this sentiment has special meaning as Soldiers are also part of the Aloha community.

Command Sgt. Maj. James P. Wills, U.S. Army Reserve command sergeant major, visits with U.S. Army Reserve soldiers based out of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., July 22-23, 2016. Wills relayed Lieutenant General Charles Luckey’s vision and message to the field, spoke about readiness and addressed issues and concerns.
The dedication and determination of the participants were on full display as 235 individuals completed the challenging 12-mile ruck march in under three hours this morning. Their remarkable achievement earned them the prestigious air assault badge, awarded today during a ceremony this afternoon at The Plain at West Point, N.Y.
This ceremony was a powerful testament to the participants' readiness for rigorous military training and operations. By pushing their limits and excelling in their performance, they have showcased their commitment to excellence and the values upheld within the military.
Yesterday, cadets, staff, and soldiers engaged in air assault operations by two UH-60 Blackhawks at West Point, N.Y. This training opportunity further verified their skills and preparedness for the challenges they may face as they continue their military journey. Great job AIR ASSAULTS!
