In a 3 hour span I went from 189 to 52 - I'm back up to 59 after LUNCH and FOUR glucose tabs. Diabetes is freaky. About to drink 4 oz of juice to see if that works. Sorry for the blur - when it is this low I get shaky.

A bit high, but after a carb heavy meal of hummus, crackers, and part of a banana, I'm okay with it. I'm drinking a ton of water and it will be back to normal in the a.m. I'm sure.

American Red Cross nurse Jan Dayton gives Doug Maund of Athens Pharmacy in Athens, Alabama, a huge hug after he agreed to donate medical supplies that were running short in the local Red Cross supplies. Maund donated glucometers, glucose monitoring test strips, finger lancets, blood pressure cuffs and stethoscopes for use in the disaster relief effort in North Alabama.

A small collection of the many meters I've used over the past 15 years, including my current one. I have a Glucometer II and an original OneTouch meter around, but I couldn't find them when I needed them.
This photo highlights the importance of Insulin and Glucose meter, which help in saving millions of lives every year.
ok, so it was only on one of the glucometers.. i'll still take it! :)
i got a new glucometer yesterday because my doctor had sent me a coupon to pick up an onetouch ultra2 at any pharmacy for free. (the box and manual for the ultra2 show 138, by the way... which is more realistic for me than 104!)
i still have my accu-check aviva in working condition, so i've been checking using both meters at the same time. they have been pretty consistent so far.
insulin is not a cure.

Investigation name or abstract title: Hepatitis C Outbreak in a Respiratory Care Ward Associated with Frequent Unsafe Injections — Taiwan, 2017
Photo description: Taiwan FETP investigated an acute hepatitis C (AHC) outbreak in a respiratory care ward in August 2017. Of 17 ventilator-dependent patients, 4 developed AHC during May–July 2017. Analysis of RNA sequences of four AHC patients revealed highly homology to a chronic hepatitis C patient of the ward. Epidemiologic study showed that frequent injections and infection control lapses were risk factors for infection. FETP and local health bureau visited the ward and observed invasive procedure practice of health care personnel. Right: the nurse demonstrated using glucometer for finger stick sugar test. Middle and left: Staff of CDC and local health bureau.
I pulled my old One Touch Profile out for a picture. Unfortunately I don't have any strips left for it, but the check strip is approximately the same size (it just doesn't show how much blood was needed). The One Touch Ultra 2 is about 1/3 the size, the strips are way smaller and take way less blood. Thank goodness for technology!
