No idea who this tiny coleoptera is, didn't have time to actually get a decent "global shot" for id-ing it, but I like the story the picture tells.

When on the of the Rockefeller center I was gobsmacked by the view, and all the activity below, when I saw a building platform my intention was to photograph it and zooming in at different zoom levels and make a triptych of it.
When I started today on it I decided to try something different and paste two different shot is a global shot. Maybe the triptych will come eventually.

The autumn colours are late this year but this week we noticed they are starting to peak. With a break in the rain for a couple of days we headed to Winkworth Arboretum to enjoy the colours.
We were rewarded with some stunning colours and some quiet time to ponder the fact that nature takes a rest during winter and yet we still try to maintain the same level of busyness. We also throw in a festival that's been totally hijacked by consumerism and endless parties. It's no wonder people get stressed out and ill during December.

Presentation at IDFA 2009
Video artist Perry Bard initiated this participatory, global, shot-for-shot remake of Dziga Vertov's Man with a Movie Camera (1929). The project invites its Internet audience to submit footage that corresponds to one of the 1,276 shots from the film's 57 scenes. The software on the site produces a new version of the film every day from the submitted material, and this is shown in split screen next to the original, with a new soundtrack by Steve Baun. In the opening titles of the original version, Vertov describes his film as "An experiment in the cinematic communication of visible events without the aid of intertitles, without the aid of a scenario, without the aid of theater." In this remake, Bard removes even the single guiding influence of one single director. Bard also extrapolates Vertov's meta-reflection on a filmic level. Vertov's original edits are preserved frame-for-frame, but the shots themselves are all new: a typewriter becomes a digital keyboard and the complex analog film equipment becomes a cell phone camera. We see 1920s Russia transformed into other places and times.

it should have been obvious but it is very difficult to do good shots of these incredible sculpture. This one and the next one are part of the same sculpture but I did succeed in getting one global shot.

These guys are part of the mini-golf area.I thought they looked so cute that I had to snap a shot.By the way,this mini-goldf is not your run of the mill flat area.They actually made a huge hill,with waterfalls,a pond.I think I really have to return and take a global shot so you can see how nice it is. It is constantly full when it's open.I,for one,would not do very well here.I played mini-golf with my daughter and sister a few years ago on Cheticamp Island where the beach is,and it was all flat withyour regular obstacles of course,and we were terrible,lol.We sent the poor balls flying everywhere but where they were supposed to go,lol.After trying to play properly in the beginning and doing very poorly,we just decided to have fun and be as bad as we could be.Now that was fun,lol :-) !!!
