I stagger forth at some scurrilous exchange between the night and day, minding my way to the next bathroom jaunt so sleep can proceed according to schedule. Only to find that the ceiling is decked — not with holly, but something similarly festive — green LED lighting descended from the equal loins of Tommyknockers and a warehouse rave. Flipping the usual light switch as my eyes adapt to the light, I gaze upon a sequence of bow-wrapped pink 'n' green orbs from a parallel Yuletide tradition.
My wife Ravenelle has surprised me yet again, continuing her quest to beautify our domestic spaces into exotic tastes. I often tell her, I'd be content in a minimalist white room with little furniture to speak of, but she insists on making my life more beautiful, so I grow and embrace the magic, and dream together. "Honey, I appreciate you..."
Reverting back to the darkness, I smile and sit, knowing a routine activity has just gotten more fun.
