This lovely patio setting is located at the Oscar Swan Inn located in Geneva Illinois. Set back away from the main road, this quiet bed & breakfast is so peaceful and has the best country breakfast. I never knew this place existed until today. I met my family today for brunch, and what a treat it was. Afterwards, my brother and I roamed around outside. This used to be a farm years ago. The house, built in 1902, is now converted into this inn.

Superimposed layers: The evening skyline of Dhaka city reflected in the waters of a lake and a glass of half-filled water reflected on a glass-top table.

It is common knowledge that Rotsen makes amazing high-end furniture, decorative products and wall art, mainly from felled trees and reclaimed wood slabs. The idea is that trees do not have to be cut down.
Designed to maximize our commitment with environmental sustainability, the Mandala Dining Table uses scraps of hardwood collected from our own manufacturing process, when making larger furniture items such as cocktail tables, dining tables and consoles.
The result is a round glass dining table, which shows a mosaic made from salvaged hardwood, placed forming a very unique piece. The dining table metal base is made of steel with a powder coating finish. The Mandala Dining Table can be made to order in various shapes and dimensions.

Fun, dramatic gold leaf pillar table makes a bold statement! Single gold leaf Ionic column supports a luxuriously thick bevel-edged glass top. Table circumference 4'; seats 4-6. In excellent condition overall, with no chips to the glass. Gold leaf finish on column has no outstanding issues. Leave as it is, or lacquer in black or white for that modern Kelly Wearstler look! A perfect addition to a contemporary or traditional home.

Estate sale mid-century teak folding table with new beveled glass top. Thought about backing the glass with fabric or paint but I like that the mechanics of the table (router groove and all) are visible-- gives it a Duchamp "Bride Stripped Bare" sort of feel. Still needs a coat of stain and/or tung oil. Will be perfect in the rehabbed sewing studio. Total cost, 15 dollars. Sweet.
Walls lined with shelves, books at the back and other bric-à-brac on the right, reflected on a glass-top table (the back of a chair separates the bookshelves from their reflection).

Term of the Day: Verre églomisé 9/25/09
A giltwood and gilt-composition center table with inset engraved verre églomisé top, possibly by George Morant & Son.
Verre églomisé is the name for sheet glass that is covered on its reverse side with silver or gold leaf and sometimes paint, then engraved on the reverse side, and the engraved areas painted so that a pattern or picture can be seen from the front side of the glass. The name comes from the French picture frame dealer Jean-Baptiste Glomy, who popularized the technique in the 18th century, though it had been invented by the ancient Romans and used throughout the Middle Ages. After Glomy began using this method to decorate his frames, verre églomisé became fashionable throughout Europe and America for use in picture frames, mirrors, clocks and other hanging objects, though verre églomisé tabletops, as in the present example, were much less common.
