The reflections in the interesting glass facades of the cube Berlin seem to symbolize our world in this momentary state of disorder and turmoil.. .
In der Fassade des cube-berlin spiegelt sich die Umgebung wieder, wie hier zu sehen Rudimente vom Hauptbahnhof Berlin. In der Spiegelung sind 2 Spiegelungen vom Washington Platz und den Menschen zusehen, uter anderem der Fernsehturm am Alexander Platz. Ein anderer Standpunkt. eine andere Perspektive erzählt eine neue Geschichte von dem Geschehen auf dem Platz.

In the façade of the cube-berlin, the surroundings are reflected, as can be seen here Rudiments of Berlin's central station. In the reflection there are 2 reflections of Washington Platz and the people watching, among others the television tower at Alexander Platz. A different point of view. A different perspective tells a new story of what is happening on the square.

Dans la façade du cube-berlin, l'environnement se reflète, comme on peut le voir ici Rudiments de la gare centrale de Berlin. Dans la réflexion, il y a 2 reflets de Washington Platz et des personnes qui regardent, entre autres la tour de télévision à Alexander Platz. Un point de vue différent. Une perspective différente raconte une nouvelle histoire de ce qui se passe sur la place.

This is a partial view of the amazing glass facade of HARPA, Reykjavik's great concert hall, designed by Olafur Eliasson. The patterns of all of its facades are changing and ever so mind-bogging. This here looked like an urban bee hive to me :)

"Neues Kranzler Eck“
60 Meter hoch ragt die gläserne Wand hinter dem altehrwürdigen Kranzler Eck auf, messerscharf schiebt sich ihre Spitze bis fast an den Kurfürstendamm. Ohne Zweifel hat Stararchitekt Helmut Jahn der City-West eine neue Sehenswürdigkeit beschert und das Einkaufsviertel, das nach der Wiedervereinigung gegenüber der neuen alten Mitte ins Hintertreffen zu geraten drohte, zumindest architektonisch effektvoll aufgepeppt.

The glass wall rises 60 meters behind the venerable "Kranzler Eck", its point razor-sharp almost to the Kurfürstendamm. Without a doubt, star architect Helmut Jahn has given City-West a new sight and at least architecturally spiced up the shopping district, which threatened to fall behind the new old center after reunification.

The berlin cube cloudified and kaleidoscoped for Sliders Sunday. Composite made of two images taken there in mid July. The first image is a capture I took standing right next to the cube's facade and pointing the camera straight up. In Photoshop, I copied the layer with the original image, flipped the new layer horizontally, and cross-faded it with the first layer by using the blending mode "Overlay" at 75 % opacity. 100 % would have resulted in a punchier look on the right side, but I rather liked the softness and that it somehow looks as if the cube would slowly dissolve into or merge with the clouds. The next step was to replace the sky above the cube(s). For that I used a small part of the very first image I'd taken at the cube; I was just about to compose the image in the viewfinder when I noticed the bird, and decided to skip the composing part in favour of the bird ;-) (Birds, just like photographers, love the new berlin cube. There was a constant coming and going on the cube's roof, and it seems that, while not even all new tenants have moved in, yet, the cube's roof has already been occupied by the bird population that lives in the Hauptbahnhof area.) Next, I gently HDRified the finished composite in Aurora, then went into ON1 where I added some sunbeams to the upper sky part of the image, and added a soft glow for an extra airy look.

Kleine Spiegel-Spielerei vom "berlin cube" für den Sliders Sunday. Dieses Bild ist zusammengesetzt aus zwei verschiedenen Fotos, die ich dort Mitte Juli gemacht habe. Für Foto Nr. 1 hatte ich fast an der Fassade des Cubes gelehnt und die Kamera direkt nach oben gerichtet. Dieses Foto habe ich in Photoshop auf einer kopierten Ebene einfach horizontal gespiegelt und mit dem darunter liegenden Originalbild bei 75 % Deckkraft ineinanderkopiert. Danach habe ich den Himmel über "den Cubes" ersetzt, und zwar mit einem kleinen Teil des allerersten Fotos, das ich dort gemacht hatte. Ich war gerade dabei gewesen, eine gute Position zu finden, um den Cube möglichst sauber ausgerichtet fotografieren zu können, bemerkte dann aber den Vogel und beschloss, das saubere Ausrichten zugunsten des Vogels auf das nächste Foto zu verschieben ;-) Überhaupt ist der neue Cube schon sehr beliebt bei den Vögeln, die rund um den Berliner Hauptbahnhof leben. Während längst noch nicht alle Mieter in den Cube eingezogen sind, hat die Vogel-Gang vom Hauptbahnhof bereits das gesamte Dach in Beschlag genommen ;-) Bearbeitungstechnisch habe ich das fertig zusammengesetzte Bild erst in Aurora sanft HDRisiert und dann, in ON1, dem oberen Teil ein paar Sonnenstrahlen und zum Abschluss dem gesamten Foto ein leichtes Leuchten verpasst, um den luftig-leichten Look zu betonen.

This is the "berlin cube", a brand new building and architectural highlight right by Berlin's central station, the Hauptbahnhof. The ten-storey office building with a width, height and length of 42.5 metres each was designed by 3XN Architects from Copenhagen in an
energy-efficient way and is equipped with the latest technology, including 3,800 sensors for smart control. The photographical highlight is the glass facade with triangle shaped elements that reflect the surroundings like a kaleidoscope. The cube is great fun – and also quite challenging – to photograph, and I will return there soon with a different lens line-up :-) Should you happen to visit Berlin some day, the "berlin cube" should be on your list of things to photograph. The Hauptbahnhof itself is interesting, too, and the Government district and other points of photographic interest are near by.

Dies ist der "berlin cube", ein nigelnagelneues Bürogebäude direkt am Berliner Hauptbahnhof, das erst in diesem Jahr fertiggestellt wurde. Das wohl auffälligste Element dieses 42,5 m breiten und hohen Würfels ist die Glasfassade, die mit nach innen gerichteten Dreieckselementen ausgestattet wurde, die die Umgebung kaleidoskopartig widerspiegeln. Im Innern ist der vom Kopenhagener Architekturbüro 3XN entworfene und in energieeffizienter Bauweise errichtete Cube mit modernster Technologie, darunter 3.800 Sensoren für intelligente Steuerung, ausgestattet. Es macht großen Spaß, dort zu fotografieren und ich werde sicher bald wieder vorbeischauen, dann mit anderen Brennweiten für einen ganz neuen Blick auf den Cube. Wenn Ihr mal in Berlin seid, solltet Ihr unbedingt dort vorbeischauen. Das Regierungsviertel und andere Sehenswürdigkeiten sind auch nicht weit, sodass man sich dort locker einen Tag fotografisch austoben kann ;-)

The reflection of the "Model One“ showed up at the Kurfürstendamm / Joachimsthaler Str. in Berlin.
Yesterday I have been in this area for a dentist appointment. I didn't have my good camera with me because at the moment I can only get to this area by bus. These are so crowded that nobody can fall over in there! The two subway lines, which are otherwise also very busy in this direction, are not in operation at the same time due to construction work! So everyone is now squeezing into these buses during rush hour, as are the numerous tourists who are currently populating Berlin! For the way home, I therefore decided to save myself the unreasonable bus ride and walked a long way to get to another subway line that is in operation. So I crossed this intersection where suddenly, looking back, I saw this glorious reflection of "Motel One". Sometimes it's worth looking back! ;) When the traffic light went red, I stopped briefly in the middle of the street to take this photo with my smartphone. I don't normally take photos with the phone so it wasn't set correctly. But who knows if I can repeat these lighting conditions again with the good camera when the sun is in this position?
Conclusion: Never leave the house without a "real" camera, even if it's heavy!

Gestern war ich wegen eines Zahnarzt Termins in dieser Gegend. Meine gute Kamera hatte ich nicht dabei, weil ich zur Zeit nur mit dem Bus in diese Gegend gelange. Diese sind derart überfüllt, dass niemand da drinnen umfallen kann! Die zwei U-Bahn Linien die sonst auch ziemlich stark frequentiert in diese Richtung führen, sind gleichzeitig wegen Bauarbeiten nicht in Betrieb! Alle quetschen sich also jetzt im Berufsverkehr in diese Buss ebenso wie die zahlreichen Touristen die zur Zeit Berlin bevölkern! Für den Heimweg beschloss ich deshalb mir die unzumutbare Busfahrt zu ersparen und ging zu Fuß eine weiter Strecke um zu eienr anderen U Bahn Linie zu gelangen, die in Betrieb ist. Daher überquerte ich diese Kreuzung wo ich plötzlich bei einem Blick zurück diese herrliche Spiegelung des "Motel One" sah. Manchmal lohnt es sich, mal zurückzuschauen! ;) Bei einer "Rot-Phase " der Ampel blieb ich kurz in der Mitte der Straße stehen um diese Foto mit meinem Smartphone zu machen. Normalerweise fotografiere ich nicht mit dem Phone, also war es nicht richtige eingestellt. Aber wer weiß ob ich diese Lichtverhältnisse bei diesem Stand der Sonne noch einmal genauso mit der guten Kamera wiederholen kann?
Fazit: Gehe niemals ohne "richtige" Kamera aus dem Haus, auc wenn die schwer ist!
