Looking SE from Glacier's Going to the Sun Road near Logan Pass at a bowl valley sculpted by glaciers. Hard to top Nature's art.

Thanks for taking a look!

Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park - New Zealand

In Iceland, I was amazed by the landscapes shaped by the glaciers. Especially, the magnificent rivers that descends from them. It was quite difficult to shot them, because the best view was from the narrow bridges where two cars do not cross, so it was impossible to stop. I tried to shot a glacial river from the car on move, hence the blur of motion.

Lots of black volcanic ash mixed in the glacial ice - just to remind you what you're standing on!

This glacial lake is originated from the Passu Glacier, which is situated in the south side of Passu village.

Clouds, rain, and white glacial water on the Flathead River.

Glacial waters are so colorful and special. May glacial waters always flow to create stunning scenes and ecosystems like this.

Another perspective on a treasured favorite scene. While Banff's Peyto Lake is beautiful anytime of year I think that fresh snow enhances it's beauty even more. The snow does make the hike a bit more challenging and thrilling as well.

Thanks for taking the time to take a look and for any comments, faves or suggestions.

Happy Friday!

Rams Head Glacial lakes.

From a camping trip over the weekend. This was the scene that drew us there in the first place. Once there though there is so much else to see.

The granite boulders have an other worldly quality which makes the whole landscape quite fascinating.

Lago de Enol/Enol Lake - this glacial beauty is one of the two highland lakes in the Western Massif of the Picos mountains in Asturias. It is next to the smaller Lake Ercina and together, they are known as the Lakes of Covadonga.

The Mistaya River is a short river in western Alberta, Canada. It flows through the Canadian Rockies, and a section of the Icefield Parkway was built along its course.

Mistaya River originates in Peyto Lake, a glacial lake of typical blue colour (due to rock flour).

Thank you for your comments, I wish you a great weekend.

A typical view seen near the top of Beartooth Pass. The flat plateaus, alpine cirques, U-shaped valleys and lakes of the Beartooths were sculpted by glaciers. Truly a remarkable and fascinating geological wonder.

A trip over the Beartooth Pass is not only a soaring adventure via car, it is a trip back in time to some of the earliest glimpses of Earth history. This is history you can stand on, with some of the oldest rocks on Earth, uplifted to their present height by tectonic forces and Yellowstone’s thermal buoyancy, and finally artistically shaped by persistent weathering and glacial erosion.

Thanks for taking a look. Always appreciated!

Have a wonderful Friday and weekend!

Höfn is an Icelandic fishing town in the southeastern part of the country. It lies near Hornafjörður fjord.

The town, the second largest in the southeastern part of Iceland, offers scenic views of Vatnajökull (the largest ice cap in Europe by volume). The community was formerly known as Hornafjarðarbær between 1994 and 1998.

Höfn is located on a peninsula in the southeast of Iceland. The name Höfn means harbour and it is a fishing port surrounded on three sides by the sea, with beaches on a long shoreline to the southeast. Shoals and glacial rivers traverse this area with many shifting lagoons and sand reefs being formed. Höfn is surrounded by several small islands to the east of the town, the largest of which is Mikley, followed by Krókalátur and Hellir.

In Nes there is a small village called Nesjahverfi. Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland, is about 458 kilometres from Höfn along the south coast. The headland of the town is called the Ingólfshöfði, which is 76 metres high and 85 kilometres (in a direct line) from the town. Sea birds such as skuas, guillemots, fulmar and puffins can be seen from the headland.

Höfn was founded by the merchant Ottó Tuliníus in 1897 who relocated a trading place which had been established in 1861 from Papós, an area 15 kms northwest of Höfn, to the present site of the town. Höfn had 300 inhabitants in 1946. An economic boom started after the construction of the bridge Hornafjarðarbrú in 1961, and with a length of 255 metres the bridge was the second largest bridge in Iceland at that time. Höfn attained municipal status on 31 December 1988 and had 1 647 inhabitants in 1989.
