A difficult month in our family with the anniversaries of our Mum, Dad and precious nephew. However, we give thanks for their lives and cherish their memories and as always, find solace in nature's beauty.

As Thanksgiving approaches I wanted to take time to share some of the things for which I am grateful. I have been blessed to live, during my life, in some amazing places. The Lord blessed me in every place I lived with unique natural beauty, kind people and amazing friends. I was born in Wyoming but am grateful to have lived in Utah, Brazil, Texas and Louisiana. I learned so much in each place and am grateful for all the people who helped me on my life's journey. I am particularly thankful to be living in my retirement in Wyoming. I love the mountains and am grateful for all the beauty that God put on earth and in Wyoming. I am blessed to have places of solitude to walk and enjoy the beauty around me. I am thankful for the goodness of Wyoming people who remind of my parents, grandparents and family. I am truly thankful for the blessing Pauline and I have received living here. I am rediscovering places like Twin Lakes shown in the photo. I knew it as a boy but am thankful to learning more about its beauty.

I didn't get a chance to post this for the holidays seeing I was so busy. I am posting it now, on the last day of November. Let us give thanks for this month and all the rest. Have an attitude of gratitude. Tomorrow starts my 25 Days of Christmas! I am excited for the first time in a long time. I think, with everything going on in the world right now, all that is so wrong......the things that are right are emphasized in my heart more. Let us get ready for a very Merry Christmas!

Today I'm thankful for you, all my Flickr friends who have given me so much happiness since 2012 when I came on Flickr. Part of the autumn display put up by the Historical Society in Waterford, CT. The chartreuse and bright yellow Studebaker wagon was there all year, but I always like seeing it with hay bales and corn stalks in the fall. Someone did a great job painting the plywood turkeys.
I'll be mostly away this upcoming week, so wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving if you're celebrating this week. And if you're traveling - may all go safely and well.

White Peacock butterfly. Some photos I took today on the Toni Robinson Waterfront Trail. The area is maintained by the Indian River Land Trust . There is a pier here which was, unfortunately, damaged by Hurricane Matthew. Hopefully someone with a larger budget than myself will donate to help fund its repair. Regardless, this is a wonderful trail, which is well marked and offers an unobstructed view of the Indian River Lagoon. There are many interesting birds, insects, and plants to see among other things , and they vary according to the season. This trail is one of the hidden gems in the Vero Beach area. I'll be starting to post trail reviews very shortly on my Glotzsee YouTube channel and this trail is at the top of the list.

I am grateful for the physical light of the world that brightens the path and allows us to see through the darkness. What a perfect metaphor, when "the light of the world" is used by Jesus himself and by others throughout the scriptures as a defining term concerning Christ's role as redeemer and savior to us all. Now, if I only had a photo of backlit sheep! #GiveThanks
I thank my Father In Heaven every day for my wonderful family. In these last few years my life has been blessed by my affable and kind grandchildren. They are so much fun to be around. They play so well together despite age differences. Unlike me when i was a boy, they seldom fight or argue. I have learned much from them. I am very thankful for the blessing of Grandkids. The photos here were taken on a recent visit to the zoo. They are wearing their masks but you can see their lovely eyes. All except the little guy. Good luck keeping a mask on him!

I wanted to say a special thank you to all our friends that have sent well wishes for Bailey Puggins. For those that aren’t aware she recently developed an ulcer in her left eye, the result of playing with Boo and accidentally getting a scratch. She has been on antibiotic drops and anti-inflammatory meds and her eye is healing. The vet said the white cloud may never fully go away. She’s back to her old spry self full of spunk and energy. I am so grateful to have her in my life and cherish every moment we have together. My best friend turns 16 this January and is still going strong! Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, from your Canadian friends Tina and the Puglets. xo

Sometimes while observing nature it reminds me to count my blessings. When my daughter was about ten years old once said, "I don't have everything I want but I have everything I need." You can learn a lot listening to children too.

This Rainbow Bridge photo was 35 years in the making! I'm grateful for past trials and mistakes. They teach us a lot, if we're willing to change and keep trying. I took my first nightscape of the bridge in 1985, and I'm finally satisfied with this latest shot.

64 was seven years ago for both Linda and I. Neither of us are as "cute" as we were 50 years ago when we got married, but she is more beautiful today, in many other ways, because of the life experiences we've shared. I'm so thankful for her. We love, respect, support each other; and we've earned our wrinkles. Every one of them.
This year has been tough on many of us. However, there is great healing power in gratitude. Many of my blessing have come from sharing the beauties of the heavenly night sky with you, my astro friends!

TECHNIQUE & EXIF: Stacked & Blended ~ Photographed at about 2:30am, with light from a 60% moon (about 30 minutes from setting behind us) • Canon 5D Mark iii + 24mm Canon EF f/1.4 • Sky: 14 exposures (each @ 13 sec, f/2.8, ISO 3200) stacked in SLS to reduce noise • Foreground: Just after the moon set, I took a stack of 10 exposures (each @ 45 sec, f/2.0, ISO 6400) to blend with the original sky exposure (to increase foreground detail in the areas between me and the bridge—that had been in the moon's shadow during the sky exposure).

One of the things I love about fall is the large gathering of blackbirds that congregate in the trees in our yard. Not just 10-20 we are talking a few hundred.
I know when they have arrived, it sounds like rain but there is no rain. They sit in our giant beech tree and eat the nuts, Dropping each shell on the roof of our home. Some days there are so many it sounds like hail. All of our animals go silent. I stop what I am doing, grab my camera and run out the door.
What I am waiting for is the take off, when they all go silent for a second then you hear a whoosh and sometimes, if you are lucky, you can feel the wind from their wings.
What this means for you guys, is some pretty cool bird brushes from right in my yard. This time I put a few of the larger flocks in it. Remember, you can erase away bits of the birds and create your own formations.

NGC6992 (136 exp, 11.0°, 35% rh) It has been fun for this amateur astronomer to glimpse a few of the wonders in this amazing universe we all share!
The waxing crescent moon is seen through the branches of the trees in my front yard reminding me that our many blessings can be seen and counted even through the difficulties of life if we will but look and focus on them.
I didn't exactly expect to find graffiti inside the maze on Toronto Island so this was a fun surprise!
