Die Geschichte eines lebenden Fossils
Bis vor ca. 30 Millionen Jahren waren Ginkgo-Arten auch in Mitteleuropa heimisch. Wegen der Eiszeiten in Europa und Amerika starb dann der über die ganze Nordhalbkugel bis weit in den Norden (Grönland) verbreiteten Ginkgo aus. Bis ins 18. J. hatten die Naturforscher Kenntnis von diesen ausgestorbenen Baumarten nur über Ginkgo-Fossilien. Deshalb war die Entdeckung lebender Ginkgo Bäume im 18. Jahrhundert in China und Japan eine wissenschaftliche Sensation.
Weil der Ginkgo in unserer Zeit der letzte Überlebende einer einst zahlreichen Gattung ist, hat ihn der Begründer der Selektionstheorie Charles Darwin (1809 - 1882) als "Lebendes Fossil" bezeichnet. In der Folgezeit kam es durch Menschenhand wieder zu einer weltweiten Verbreitung des Ginkgo.

C'est un arbre majestueux, rescapé des forêts andediluviennes ,il ne doit sa survie qu'à la fascination qu'exerce sur l'homme son magnifique feuillage d'automne fait de mille petits éventails d'un jaune d'or éclatant, ainsi que son incroyable résistance aux agresseurs biologique et chimique. le Ginkgo Biloba, arbre de mystère et de légende , est un bien étrange conifère caduc qui demande de la place pour donner sa pleine mesure, ainsi qu'un sol profond et plutôt frais. le Ginkgo Biloba origine de Chine est la plus ancienne espèce d'arbre terrestre remonte à environ 300 millions d'années , ce qui lui a valu son surnom d'arbre fossile. Il peut vivre jusqu'à 1000 ans. Il est devenu un symbole de la sagesse dans de nombreux pays asiatique. Grâce à ses nombreuses vertus
thérapeutiques il a trouvé également sa place dans la pharmacopée chinoise. Il est utilisé pour l'élaboration de plusieurs remède traditionnels contre les troubles circulatoires et les maladies pulmonaires ( à déconseiller quand on prend un fluidifiant ). Le Ginkgo Biloba est notamment arrivé en Europe au cours du 18 ème siècle

Ginkgo biloba. It is the last living species in the order Ginkgoales, which first appeared over 290 million years ago. Fossils very similar to the living species, belonging to the genus Ginkgo, extend back to the Middle Jurassic approximately 170 million years ago.

I have long admired the glorious golden color of Ginkgo leaves in the fall. Now that I have a young tree planted in my garden, those cheerful mellow yellow autumn leaves always make me smile when I see them.
The branches in the photo all grew from a single trunk of the 200-year-old Ginkgo tree. The brilliant yellow leaves and the silhouettes of branches exhibited a beautiful contrast against the mild sunshine through the half cloudy sky.
