The first week of December is always a busy but pleasurable one for me, as it is the time when the Christmas magic begins in my home. I usually bake my home made mince pies and shortbreads and trim my Christmas tree. These enjoyable activities are always accompanied by Christmas Carols (yes I have a large enough selection to play across the weekend without repeats of artists).

The theme for the Flickr Friends Fifth of the month theme for the 5th of December is "Festive Season and or lights". This beautiful hand blown and painted Polish Christmas bauble (a gift from my two goddaughters) on my decked Christmas tree, illuminated by some soft lighting I think meets both the themes in one!

So, let the festivities of Christmastime commence!

I've had this little pocket sized bottle opener for a few years. It was the prize that came inside a Christmas Cracker and has come in handy on more than one occasion. It is 2" in height and 1.25" across. Image has been cropped to fit the 3" size guideline limits for the group.

I am one of those people who really enjoy Christmas. I enjoy it for many reasons, not least of all because I get to give gifts I have gathered throughout the year to my family and friends.

I shop for gifts all year around, and then hide them in places about the house where my partner won't find them (if they are for him) and in places out of the way for other recipients who might be visiting.

In the lead up to Christmas, my dining room becomes a wonderland of Christmas wrapping and trimmings which I joking call the Christmas Wrapping Bureau, as I usually end up wrapping all my partner's presents as well as my own. However another reason I like Christmas is that I love wrapping gifts, playing with ribbons and bright paper.

They are all done and are nestled 'neath my tree, ready for Christmas Day!

Whilst I was busy in the workshop she had her first play with Ninja - she really loves Ginger Biscuits and happened to have a Gingerbread Man cutter measuring just 2¾” high - my lucky day too I thought!! Happy Macro Monday folks because today's theme is “Biscuit”. If anyone is interested they cooked in just 6 minutes!! Alan:-)

MUTZLI: *Continues singing happily.* "I'll admit I'm underfed, but with a pillow from the bed..." *Slaps Malachi's brown paw as it reaches again for a plate of completed biscuits.*

MALACHI: "Ouch!"

MUTZLI: *Singing happily again.* "I could be Santa Claus."

MALACHI: "Underfed is right, Mutzli!" *Grumbles.*

MUTZLI: "You've had plenty to eat already, Malachi!" *Slaps Malachi's brown paw as it reaches yet again for a plate of completed biscuits.* "You already ate all of my last batch of completed iced Christmas biscuits!"

MALACHI: "Well, I wouldn't say eaten, Mutzli, so much as sampled, for taste testing purposes." *Smiles.*

MUTZLI: "You know perfectly well that those iced Christmas biscuits I made weren't for you. They were for Father Christmas and the Christmas Bear as a treat on Christmas Eve," *Indignant.*

MALACHI: "But it's still a week until Christmas, Mutzli, so there is plenty of time to replenish the stocks."

MUTZLI: "Yes, for me to replenish the stocks. You don't bake, Malachi."

MALACHI: "That is true, Mutzli, but I do eat."

MUTZLI: "Yes, and as a result, I have to bake more Christmas biscuits to replace the ones you 'sampled' so that there will be enough for Father Christmas and the Christmas Bear."

MALACHI: "I'm quite sure that Father Christmas and the Christmas Bear wouldn't miss one or two biscuits if I ate them, Mutzli."

MUTZLI: "One or two, no - a dozen, yes!"

MALACHI: "Well, it was obvious that I had a grumbly tummy, Mutzli. In fact... I still do. Grumbly tummy, Mutzli! Grumbly tummy!" *Rubs tummy vigorously.*

MUTZLI: *Looks warily at Malachi.*

MALACHI: *Smiles and bats eyelashes at Mutzli.*

MUTZLI: *Softens gaze at Malachi.* "Well, I suppose it is Christmas."

MALACHI: "Exactly, and Christmas is all about giving and sharing, Mutzli." *Reaches out paw for a Christmas biscuit.*

MUTZLI: "But just one, mind you Malachi. The rest must be shared with Father Christmas and the Christmas Bear."

MALACHI: "Of course, Mutzli!" *Munches iced Christmas biscuit.* "How could you even think I would eat more than one biscuit?" *Shocked.*

MUTZLI: "Because I know you, Malachi!" *Wags paw at Mutzli.* "Well, Merry Christmas Malachi!"

MALACHI: "Merry Christmas Mutzli, and thank you." *Munches iced Christmas biscuit happily.*

This Christmas I have already been spoiled by some very kind and generous friends who have given me some wonderful gifts that are handmade or specifically aimed at my interests. This includes the Christmas themed cookie cutters and artisan made miniature iced Christmas biscuits on a plate. These were given to me by a very dear friend who has been very generous by giving them to me. Of course as soon as I unwrapped them, I was immediately inspired to take a photo, so I rushed away and set up this 1:12 miniatures scene with two of my 1:12 miniature bears, Malachi and Mutzli.

Malachi I acquired in mid-March 2020 (and mid Coronavirus) from a wonderful Melbourne stalwart toy shop: Dafel Dolls and Bears, when I went looking for a present for one of my goddaughters. Malachi is designed by Mary and hand-made by Wendy Joy in Australia. He has articulated arms and legs, and an extremely sweet face. Malachi was the name he came with, written by hand on his little tag.

Mutzli was a lovely surprise gift from a dear friend in Britain who kindly slipped him into a parcel of other delightful gifts for me. Like Malachi, he is mohair, has articulated arms and legs, and an extremely sweet face. Mutzli got his name from the tiny gold tag around his neck. He is made by Mutzli, a Swiss bear manufacturer since 1949.

Hard to believe it's only 15 days until Christmas!

Saw this cheerful display at Christmas Village at Callaway Gardens, where during the Christmas season you can do some shopping. Perfect for getting me in the spirit of things.

He had a good run, did our Edible Eddiebear....

A Valentine's Day gift from my sweetheart, Edible Eddie went onto capture the hearts of an army of Flickr fans, consumed by his warm smile, rosy red cheeks and ever such a big heart.

Devoted admirers swamped his Flickr debut, with scores of comments, invites, and favourites. He soon tasted success when he went Platinum in Heart Awards, Super Hearts in Flickr Hearts, and Artist of the Year, in Music To My Eyes. Flickr loved our Edible Eddiebear.

Explore fame may have eluded our Eddiebubs (the best are usually ignored there) but Our Edible Eddiebear, was a star. That is, until yesterday ...

It is with a heavy heart, but a full stomach, that I have to confirm the final episode in the short-lived life - eight days in all - of Edible Eddiebear. As "More Properties" will confirm, at precisely 4-05 pm GMT, Friday, February 22nd, 2008, Eddie's world fell to pieces.

First his little stumpy legs were severed. His cute paws also soon went their separate ways. But he never lost that famous smile even though he soon lost his head. That proud, robust, determined heart also beat on defiantly until, savagely, that split in half too.

Lying there in a bed of crumbs, Edible Eddiebear, winked one last time for the camera and urged his legion of mouth-watering lovers not to be shattered by his life coming apart. "I had a good run," he said, "not many Gingerbread Men make it to the age of eight."

Bravely Edible Eddiebear, added: "Let my people know ..." And, again confirmed by "More Properties," the last image the world will ever see of Edible Eddiebear, was uploaded to Flickr at precisely, 4-17pm GMT, Friday, February 22nd, 2008.

We may have lost our Edible Eddiebear – but his memory sure tastes good…
