Happy Macro Monday!

This week's theme: Biscuit

Today is National Gingerbread Cookie Day. Just coincidence that I bought these last weekend for something else.

I finally got around to decorating the gingerbread cookies I baked the other day.

Thanks for your visit! I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Gingerdead Zombie Cookies, click the tray for male/female/kid animated cookies, & bento hold. Animated cookies to hold also included.

Just having well-deserved fun after so much hard work...

Taito the Elf & his elf school trainee students baking at Elfhouse!

Kaapo and Tiitus love to decorate them.

Having only been given a few days notice that the Bake Off was being held this weekend during the Festival Alley, Stormtrooper Bruce was thrown into overdrive to get an entry prepared for the Bake Off, which meant Movie Night plans had to be changed.

TK-1110: I can't believe the P decided at the last minute to hold the Bake Off. Dude, how in the great galaxy did you manage to get that little gingerbread house prepared on time?

STB: Well, it wasn't easy.

TK-432: Well, your entry looks amazing, as always. I just love this little... ooops!

STB: Bro! Put that Santa back!!! He's for the Bake Off, not for you to snack on while we're waiting to get inside.

TK-NuB: Wow! Look at all they're doing this weekend! We're going to have a blast!

STB: Nubie! Stop pointing! And since you're still new at this, our usual Bake Off plan once we get inside is - while I'm registering my entry, you two, or now you three, go get your photo taken at the photo booth, to prove you attended the event. Then if there's time, you can join in any of the activities. Then once I'm done, we can all sneak out, get back to my quarters and get Movie Night started!

TK-NuB: Whoa. That was one of those WTMIAO moments, wasn't it? Way too much information at once.

TK-1110: Don't worry. Just hang with us while Dude here is taking care of his baking business. We'll play some of the P's reindeer games in the meantime. And then we'll slip out when no one's looking. Movie Night is calling! Can't you hear it?

TK-432: Oh, I can't wait to see what movie marathon we'll get to watch tonight! And I've already worked up an appetite, and my whistle really needs wetting. Just saying!

STB: Well, I hate to spoil the surprise, but... In order to get my Winter Chalet ready, I'm afraid we're just having pizza tonight. But the cooler is just as cold, and just as full as always. And we'll still get to open our presents, but the feast I'd planned will have to wait.

TK-1110: No worries. I just hope these new judges for this Bake Off don't run into any issues like the last ones. Wonder if they'll ever get out quarantine?

STB: I can't help but wonder who the new ones are?

TK-432: What about the prizes? Wonder what they'll be this time?

TK-NuB: I wonder if we'll have thick crust, or extra cheese? Or meat lovers!

My gingerbread boys are ready to party at a cookie exchange with the ladies on my street tonight. These are always fun to bake. It's the beginning of the Christmas season when these boys are out. Now if I can get them to the party without an eye, nose, or button popping off, I'll be really happy.

Early today at my local Foodworks store. I came across this tasty looking Gingerbread cookies I couldn't resist and brought them,

After the rainy and windy days, today looks so beautiful!

I like baking a bite size ginger snaps. You can just pop them in your mouth :-) Have a great day, everyone!

Found these cute gingerbread skaters in a store window - and then I began to wonder: How come gingerbread cookies came to be Christmas cookies? Well, seek an ye' shall find. :-)

This web site is great, everything from the early spice trade to current customs, told in an engaging way: alwaystheholidays.com/history-of-gingerbread/

Enjoy!

It may be Movie Night, but tonight Stormtrooper Bruce has put a pause on those plans for something a little more important, at least for him. The guys know when it comes to Palpatine's Bake Off contests, STB is going to be there or be square.

Palpatine: OK, Rudolph, stop squirming before I drop you! You're worse than an Ewok!

Rudolph: But Unka Pappy, I can't see everything. They're all so pretty! And look! There's Unka Dude!

Palpatine: Now nephew, you know he's not your uncle, I am. I don't know why you insist on calling him that!

Rudolph: Unka Dude! Unka Dude! So happy to see you. I sure missed you! Did you miss me? Which entry is yours? Oh, and today I'm Rudolph accause Santa likes him best!

STB: Well, hello, Rudy, that's a great name. This year I made a yule log, this one right here!

TK-1110: Well, you definitely get my vote. But then, I'm not a judge. And I pitty the judges this year. What a turn out! Ten tables full of yummy goodness!

TK-432: Ten tables, but this one looks like it has the best ones, in my humble opinion!

Vader: Well, I am a judge, and with so many entries, it's going to take a while to decide a winner, so we're about to start in a few minutes. And hopefully no one gets sent to the MedBay, like last year.

Rudolph: Mr. Vader, can I be a judge? I just love desserts!

Palpatine: Now Rudolph, we talked about that. Judges need to be impartial. We do blind taste testing, and I'm afraid you'll peek. And if you peek, I'll have to tell Santa!

Rudolph: Well, since I can't be a judge, can I go back to Unka Dude's quarters and watch movies now that the Bake Off is over? He has the bestest movies and snacks ever! And then later we can sing songs!

If this looks to good to be true....it is. It's fake food. I bought it online to sit atop of my Santa's hand at the restaurant. Looks so real. It's perfect for my display.

It was slow going for Stormtrooper Bruce, but finally he found his holiday spirit, and decided to finish his decorating, shopping and baking.

A vibrant and heartwarming scene from a traditional market, where a woman in a warm green winter coat and a cozy beanie with a fur pom-pom browses a stall filled with beautifully decorated gingerbread cookies. The colorful heart-shaped gingerbread, adorned with intricate icing designs, hangs in rows, creating a visually rich and festive atmosphere. The blurred background captures the lively energy of the marketplace, suggesting a seasonal or holiday event. This image encapsulates the charm of European markets, craftsmanship, and the nostalgic allure of sweet treats during colder months.

Every year at christmastime I like to give myself a new challenge. This year it's gingerbread! I think my family and friends will love them and they were fun to make!

Here's another of the Christmas Boxed sets I'm working on. This is similar to a set I did last year - minus the extra large Gingerbread house (PITA for packaging/arranging) ( I packaged them in tins last year).

Putting an apron on the little gingerbread girl was inspired by Polka- dot Zebra's little gingerbread girl she made for her Sweets party. www.flickr.com/photos/polka-dotzebra/3788347155/in/photos...

Being the proud moma, I just had to share this.

So I was decorating gingerbread cookies and the little monster insists on helping, so I told him he was only "allowed" to sprinkle them with sugar after I pipe the icing. He complied, but after turning my back for just a minute, I return to discover he was already at it with the piping bags (that yellow blob on the one he's working on is his doing)...

Pastry chef in the making? :-)

Or maybe he'll be a photographer one day. Once in a while, I catch him "looking through" the tripod and proudly exclaiming, "camera!!!"

Yep...I've started some Christmas baking and freezing it. These were quite fun to make.

*Please note: The snowmen heads are my version of Lisa's wonderful snowmen cookies here: www.flickr.com/photos/45017106@N08/sets/72157622807904647/

Lisa's are so much nicer than mine! She graciously allowed me to use her idea last year for my version.

Made some cookies as a thank you to my hair stylist. She has been very supportive to me (cutting my hair for free and coming down to her shop when my hair was falling out!). Thanks Angie!

December Diary, Day22 of 31: I made a whole bunch of my favorite gingerbread cookies today. Tomorrow I am going to decorate them ( I run out of ingredients for icing) .

I have watched too many cooking shows and now think I can make beautifully decorated cookies. The evidence shows I can't at least, they taste good.

My sister and my dad decorated some cookies today :) I took photos. :P Mainly because I suck at decorating them, haha, and they're both really good at it (these weren't the prettiest). They're sooooo tasty! :D
