Die Holzkirche in Elend ist ein Sakralbau im Ortsteil Elend der Gemeinde Oberharz am Brocken im Harz. Die Kirche wird von der Evangelischen Stadtkirchengemeinde Elbingerode genutzt. Sie gilt als kleinste Holzkirche Deutschlands und wurde am 27. Juni 1897 geweiht.
Schloss Rheinsberg liegt in der Gemeinde Rheinsberg, etwa 100 km nordwestlich von Berlin im Landkreis Ostprignitz-Ruppin. Das am Ostufer des Grienericksees gelegene Schloss gilt als Musterbeispiel des sogenannten Friderizianischen Rokokos und diente auch als Vorbild für Schloss Sanssouci.

Der Blyde River Canyon ist ein 26 Kilometer langer, bis zu 800 Meter tiefer und hauptsächlich aus rotem Sandstein bestehender Canyon. Er befindet sich an der Panorama Route nordöstlich von Johannesburg und gilt als eines der großen Naturwunder Afrikas.
Durch den Blyde River Canyon, der an den Bourke’s Luck Potholes genannten Strudellöchern beginnt, fließt der Fluss Blyde River, der bei dem Thaba Chweu entspringt und in den Olifantsriver fließt.
The Blyde River Canyon is a 26km long Canyon located in Mpumalanga, South Africa. It is the one of the larger canyons on Earth but much smaller than those of Asia, the Grand Canyon and the Fish River Canyon. Unlike the Grand and Fish River Canyon, the Blyde River Canyon is a "green canyon" which is dominated by subtropical vegetation. The canyon forms part of the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve.
Als besonders erstrebenswert gilt es für strenggläubige Hindus, in Varanasi im Ganges zu baden, sowie dort einmal zu sterben und verbrannt zu werden. Entlang des Flusses ziehen sich kilometerlange, stufenartige Uferbefestigungen hin, die Ghats, an denen auf der einen Seite die Gläubigen im Wasser des für sie heiligen Flusses baden und wenige Meter weiter die Leichen der Verstorbenen verbrannt werden. Die Asche streut man anschließend ins Wasser. Ein Bad im Ganges soll von Sünden reinigen, in Varanasi zu sterben und verbrannt zu werden, ist der hinduistischen Mythologie zufolge, der Ausbruch aus dem ständigen Kreislauf der Wiedergeburt.
The Ghats in Varanasi are world-renowned embankments made in steps of stone slabs along the river bank where pilgrims perform ritual ablutions. The ghats are an integral complement to the Hindu concept of divinity represented in physical, metaphysical, and supernatural elements.[90] Varanasi has at least 84 ghats, most of which are used for bathing by pilgrims and spiritually significant Hindu puja ceremony, while a few are used exclusively as Hindu cremation sites. Steps in the ghats lead to the banks of Ganges, including the Dashashwamedh Ghat, the Manikarnika Ghat, the Panchganga Ghat, and the Harishchandra Ghat, where Hindus cremate their dead. Many ghats are associated with Hindu legends and several are now privately owned.
Many of the ghats were constructed under the patronage of the Marathas, Shindes (Scindias), Holkars, Bhonsles, and Peshwas. Most are bathing ghats, while others are used as cremation sites. A morning boat ride on the Ganges across the ghats is a popular tourist attraction. The extensive stretches of ghats in Varanasi enhance the riverfront with a multitude of shrines, temples, and palaces built "tier on tier above the water's edge".

Der Industriekomplex Zeche und Kokerei Zollverein, der 2001 als UNESCO-Welterbe ausgezeichnet wurde, gilt als eines der imposantesten Industriedenkmäler der Welt. Seit der letzten Schicht im Jahre 1986 hat sich Zollverein in eine Stätte für Kunst, Kultur und Kreativwirtschaft verwandelt, die jährlich rund 1,5 Millionen Besucher anzieht.

Der Kernbeißer (Coccothraustes coccothraustes) ist die größte in Europa heimische Art der Finken (Fringillidae). Der große und kräftige Kegelschnabel des sogenannten „Finkenkönigs“ stellt ein auffälliges Merkmal dar. Die Schneiden des Oberschnabels und die ausgehöhlte Führung des Unterschnabels ermöglichen in Verbindung mit der entsprechenden Muskulatur das Aufspalten von Obstkernen, wozu ein erheblicher Druck aufgewendet werden muss. Der Kernbeißer besiedelt Europa, Nordafrika sowie ostwärts die Gebiete bis Ostasien und Japan. Seine Nahrung setzt sich vor allem aus Samen von Laubbäumen und Früchten, aber auch aus Insekten und deren Larven zusammen. Die Art gilt derzeit als nicht gefährdet.
Merkmale
Der Kernbeißer zeichnet sich durch seine gedrungene Gestalt aus und ist an seinem kräftigen, runden Kopf, dem großen Kegelschnabel und kurzen Schwanz leicht zu erkennen. Das Auge ist braun. Die äußeren großen Armdecken bilden ein weißes Band, das im Flug als halbmondförmige Zeichnung gut erkennbar ist. Daneben gibt es ein weißes Band im Bereich der Handschwingen, die Schwingen sind ansonsten blauschwarz. Beine und Zehen sind fleischfarben. Kernbeißer erreichen eine Körperlänge von 16,5 bis 18 Zentimeter. Das Körpergewicht liegt bei 48 bis 62 Gramm. Die Flügelspannweite beträgt 29 bis 33 Zentimeter. Die Steuerfedern sind gemessen entlang des Federschaftes beim Männchen höchstens 22 bis 23 mm und beim Weibchen 14 bis 17 mm lang.

The hawfinch (Coccothraustes coccothraustes) is a passerine bird in the finch family Fringillidae. Its closest living relatives are the evening grosbeak (Hesperiphona vespertinus) from North America and the hooded grosbeak (Hesperiphona abeillei) from Central America and Mexico.
This bird breeds across Europe and temperate Asia. It is mainly resident in Europe, but many Asian birds migrate further south in the winter. It is a rare vagrant to the western islands of Alaska.
Deciduous or mixed woodland, including parkland, with large trees – especially hornbeam – is favoured for breeding. The hawfinch builds its nest in a bush or tree, and lays 2–7 eggs. The food is mainly seeds and fruit kernels, especially those of cherries, which it cracks with its powerful bill. This large finch species is usually seen in a pair or small group.
The 16.5–18 cm long hawfinch is a bulky bull-headed bird, which appears very short-tailed in flight. Its head is orange-brown with a black eyestripe and bib, and a massive bill, which is black in summer but paler in winter. The upper parts are dark brown and the underparts orange.
The white wing bars and tail tip are striking in flight. The sexes are similar. The call is a hard chick. The song of this unobtrusive bird is quiet and mumbled.
Die Klarinette gilt als "junges Instrument"., es ist in Wirklichkeit recht betagt, ihre Geschichter reicht bis in die Antike zurück. Zum Beispiel in der altgyptischen Arghul, dem arabischen Zummarah und in vielen asiatischen Instrumenten ist das Urbild eines Schnabel-Instrumentes mit einem Rohrblatt vorgebildet.
Von meiner schon sehr alten B-Klarinette mit vielen Gebrauchspuren ist es das von mir sogenannte Herz(Klappen) zusehen. Die Gesamlänge meines Instrumentes beträgt 68 cm.
Die abgebildeten Klappen befinden sich im Unterstück dicht unter dem Oberstück.
Die Klarinette ist überall zu Hause, z.B. Klassik, Kammermusik, Jazz, Blasorchster, Klezmer, sie hat einen warmen runden Ton, kann aber auch schrill klingen.

The clarinet is considered a "young instrument", in reality it is quite old, its history goes back to antiquity. For example, in the ancient Egyptian arghul, the Arabic zummarah and in many Asian instruments the archetype of a beak instrument with a reed is preformed.
From my already very old Bb clarinet with many traces of use it is the so-called heart (keys). The total length of my instrument is 68 cm.

Der Alte Elbtunnel in Hamburg wurde 1911 eröffnet und verbindet die Landungsbrücken mit Steinwerder auf der südlichen Elbseite. Er wurde gebaut, um tausenden Hafenarbeitern einen sicheren und schnellen Weg zur Arbeit zu ermöglichen. Der rund 426 Meter lange Tunnel verläuft etwa 24 Meter unter der Elbe und war zur Bauzeit eine technische Meisterleistung.
Charakteristisch sind die vier großen Aufzüge, mit denen Fahrzeuge und Fußgänger in die Tiefe transportiert wurden. Heute steht der Tunnel unter Denkmalschutz und wird vor allem von Fußgängern und Radfahrern genutzt. Er gilt als architektonisches Wahrzeichen Hamburgs.

Standing in the blazing light is making many things more exhausting, not only to see. That applies to photographing as well as to many other parts of our lifes. Thats why many of us are prefering standing in the shadow, where its easier, safer. As You can see, I do belong to them, not all the time but still a lot. I feel and I know, that I'm not designated to sit here but to stand up and step outside near the edge into the sun. I know, that I wish to be the tree in front and not the rock behind me. What I am waiting for ?
Direkt in der gleißenden Sonne zu stehen macht vieles anstrengender, nicht nur das Sehen. Dies gilt für das Fotografieren genau so wie für viele andere Bereiche unseres Lebens. Deshalb bleiben viele von uns lieber im Schatten, wo es einfacher ist, sicherer. Wie man sieht, gehöre ich auch zu denen, nicht immer, doch noch oft, zu oft. Ich fühle und ich weiß, dass ich nicht dafür bestimmt bin hier zu sitzen sondern dazu aufzustehen und hinaus zu treten an den Rand und in die Sonne. Ich weiß, das ich mir wünsche der Baum zu sein und nicht der Felsen. Worauf warte mir ich nur ?

Colmar an der elsässischen Weinstraße gilt als die bezauberndste Kleinstadt von Europa, oder auch der ganzen Welt. Dank seiner vielen, mit Blumen geschmückten Kanäle wird die Stadt auch gerne »Zweites Venedig« genannt. Kopfsteingepflasterte Gassen und beeindruckende Fachwerkhäuser vervollständigen die Bilderbuchkulisse. Oder kurz: Colmar entspricht genau dem, wie sich die Welt das Elsass vorstellt.
Schon die letzten Wochen und Monate zeigten dort, wo die Borkenkäferbäume aus den Wäldern der Sächsischen Schweiz geschafft wurden, interessante neue Blickbeziehungen.
Doch bei dem Schadensumfang blieben die toten Bäumen an vielen Stellen noch stehen. Dort ergibt sich momentan ein interessantes Nebeneinander von frischem (grünen) Leben und braun-grauer Vergänglichkeit. Sehr deutlich wird das z. B. beim Blick von der Burg Hohnstein über das Polenztal zum Felsen des Hocksteins.

Der Schopftintling gilt jung – solange der Hut noch nicht ausgebreitet ist und die Lamellen noch weiß oder rosig sind – als guter Speisepilz. Er hat eine zarte Konsistenz und ein mildes Aroma. ... In Verbindung mit Alkohol kann der Schopftintling eine schwach giftige Wirkung haben (Coprinus-Syndrom).
Wenn er altert, rollt sich der Hut während des „Zerfließens“ auf und wird schwarz. Diesen Pilz findet man vom Frühsommer bis zum Spätherbst. Vorsicht jedoch vor alten Exemplaren. Sie lösen sich innerhalb weniger Stunden auf und sind dann ungenießbar.

El convento de San Esteban es un convento dominico situado en la ciudad de Salamanca.
En el actual solar del convento, ocupado por la iglesia parroquial de San Esteban, levantaron el primitivo convento, luego destruido para construir el actual, en 1524.
Aunque se le considera un excelente ejemplo del estilo plateresco, lo prolongado de sus fases constructivas explica la mezcla de estilos que van desde el gótico final hasta el barroco, estilo este poco apreciable en su arquitectura pero bien presente en el retablo mayor.

Das Kloster San Esteban ist ein Dominikanerkloster in der Stadt Salamanca.
Am heutigen Standort des Klosters, an dem sich die Pfarrkirche San Esteban befindet, bauten sie 1524 das ursprüngliche Kloster, das später zerstört wurde, um das jetzige zu bauen.
Obwohl es als hervorragendes Beispiel des plateresken Stils gilt, erklärt die Länge seiner Bauphasen die Stilmischung von Spätgotik bis Barock, ein Stil, der in seiner Architektur nicht sehr auffällt, aber im Hauptaltar gut präsent ist.
Der Überlieferung nach blieb Kolumbus in diesem Kloster (eigentlich in dem vorherigen, das zerstört wurde, um dieses zu bauen), als er nach Salamanca ging, um vor den Geographen der Universität die Möglichkeit zu verteidigen, Indien durch Segeln in Richtung Westen zu erreichen.

The brightly colored Gilt-edged Tanager (Tangara cyanoventris) is ENDEMIC to Brazil. It's a small bird about 13 cm in length.
We found this individual in a mixed flock foraging in the company of other species.
Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. The Gilt-edged Tanager feeds on fruits and insects
Usually regular visitors to the grounds , but i only saw this one briefly ,on my last day.

Here's part of the oldest tree in Amsterdam's Hortus Botanicus, a Turkish Hazel against Autumn Blue. It was planted here in 1795 when the Hortus had already been in this spot in the Amsterdam Plantage well over a hundred years (1682). The garden was founded in 1638 as a Hortus Medicus; and moved to new grounds at the central hospital in 1664. From there to the present location.
Despite its great age - more than 200 years old - our Wonderful Tree remains healthy and sturdy.

The future has already begun in Monheim am Rhein near Düsseldorf.
For over a year now, five electric minibuses have been driving through the city on a set route of around two kilometers. The special thing about it: You move automatically. On-board cameras, laser technology and GPS navigation enable the vehicle to drive independently on the road, i.e. without the intervention of a driver.

The Gilt-edged Tanager is a stunning inhabitant of lowland evergreen forest and secondary forest in Eastern Brazil from Bahia south to São Paulo. Gilt-edged Tanagers are brilliantly colored with orange-yellow upperparts with black streaking on the nape and back, black throat patch, turquoise breast and a green belly and undertail coverts.

Das Schloss wurde 1318 erstmals urkundlich erwähnt. Zwischen 1406 und 1772 verblieb es im Besitz der Familie von Bünau, die im Osterzgebirge und in Nordböhmen über umfangreichen Grundbesitz verfügte. 1830 kaufte der sächsische König Anton die Anlage. Architektonisch bemerkenswert ist die Tatsache, dass das achtstöckige Schloss im Laufe der Jahrhunderte von oben nach unten (in den Fels hinein) "gewachsen" ist. Dadurch befinden sich z. B. die alten Kellerräume (der mittelalterlichen Burg) über den späteren Wohnräumen der sächsischen Königsfamilie.
