Als besonders erstrebenswert gilt es für strenggläubige Hindus, in Varanasi im Ganges zu baden, sowie dort einmal zu sterben und verbrannt zu werden. Entlang des Flusses ziehen sich kilometerlange, stufenartige Uferbefestigungen hin, die Ghats, an denen auf der einen Seite die Gläubigen im Wasser des für sie heiligen Flusses baden und wenige Meter weiter die Leichen der Verstorbenen verbrannt werden. A morning boat ride on the Ganges across the ghats is a popular tourist attraction. The extensive stretches of ghats in Varanasi enhance the riverfront with a multitude of shrines, temples, and palaces built "tier on tier above the water's edge".

Es handelt sich um das Kykkos Kloster, liegt zehn Kilometer westlich von Pedoulas in 1140 m Seehöhe im Troodos und gilt wegen seiner wundertätigen Marienikone als bedeutendstes Kloster Zyperns. Es ist auch das reichste Kloster des Landes.
Die Klarinette gilt als "junges Instrument"., es ist in Wirklichkeit recht betagt, ihre Geschichter reicht bis in die Antike zurück. Zum Beispiel in der altgyptischen Arghul, dem arabischen Zummarah und in vielen asiatischen Instrumenten ist das Urbild eines Schnabel-Instrumentes mit einem Rohrblatt vorgebildet.
Von meiner schon sehr alten B-Klarinette mit vielen Gebrauchspuren ist es das von mir sogenannte Herz(Klappen) zusehen. Die Gesamlänge meines Instrumentes beträgt 68 cm.
Die abgebildeten Klappen befinden sich im Unterstück dicht unter dem Oberstück.
Die Klarinette ist überall zu Hause, z.B. Klassik, Kammermusik, Jazz, Blasorchster, Klezmer, sie hat einen warmen runden Ton, kann aber auch schrill klingen.

The clarinet is considered a "young instrument", in reality it is quite old, its history goes back to antiquity. For example, in the ancient Egyptian arghul, the Arabic zummarah and in many Asian instruments the archetype of a beak instrument with a reed is preformed.
From my already very old Bb clarinet with many traces of use it is the so-called heart (keys). The total length of my instrument is 68 cm.
The illustrated keys are located in the lower part just below the upper part.
The clarinet is at home everywhere, e.g. classical music, chamber music, jazz, brass orchestras, klezmer, it has a warm round tone, but can also sound shrill.

Today I have to interrupt my series of photos from Madeira for a day, because since yesterday I am the excited owner of a new camera. This beautiful amaryllis here is my first photo, the flowers are on our dining table right now and I couldn't resist. Basically it's more of a snapshot, because I admit I didn't put much effort into it. This applies to both the photography and the post-processing, which is only very rudimentary here. Basically I just tried to make the wallpaper disappear in the background. It wasn't much more.
And yet I am amazed by the realism that this photo shows. I can't wait to get out in nature with my camera.
Ich muss heute mal für einen Tag meine Fotoreihe aus Madeira unterbrechen, denn seit gestern bin ich aufgeregter Besitzer einer neuen Kamera. Diese wunderschöne Amaryllis hier ist mein erstes Foto, Die Blumen stehen gerade auf unserem Esstisch und da konnte ich nicht wiederstehen. Im Grunde ist es eher ein Schnappschuß, denn ich habe mir, das gebe ich zu, nicht viel Mühe dabei gegeben. Dies gilt sowohl fürs Fotografieren, als auch für die Nachbearbeitung, die hier nur sehr rudimentär erfolgt ist. Im Grunde hab ich nur versucht die Tapete im Hintergrund verschwinden zu lassen. Viel mehr wars nicht.
Und trotzdem bin ich begeistert von der Realitätsnähe, die dieses Foto zeigt. Ich kann es kaum erwarten mit der Kamera raus in die Natur zu gehen.

Back to a sunset at Worthing beach,It was a day when I thought the cloud would obscure the setting sun but to my delight the cloud bank turned into pure gold for me then the sun squeaked through a gap in the cloud .
The tiny gold button is surrounded by tiny silver buttons (that happen to look like Christmas decorations, which I thought was appropriate given the month) and a thimble to the left. I love sewing accessories although I do not sew myself!

Das Kloster Haghpat ist ein Kloster der Armenischen Apostolischen Kirche in Haghpat in der Provinz Lori im Norden von Armenien. Das im 10. Jahrhundert gegründete Kloster blieb, abgesehen von kleineren Renovierungen im 11. und 12. Jahrhundert, weitgehend im Originalzustand erhalten. Es gilt als ein herausragendes Beispiel für die mittelalterliche armenische Architektur.
Im Vordergrund seht Ihr den Deutschen Dom am unteren rechten Rand den Französischen Dom. In der Mitte des Gendarmen-Marktes,links von den beiden Domen hier nicht sichtbar steht das Konzerthaus. Der Französiche Dom wurde von den Hugenotten, französischen Einwanderer an, denen der Große Kurfürst Friedrich Wilhelm von Brandenburg mit dem Edikt von Potsdam im Jahr 1685 den Schutz ihrer religiösen Freiheit und volles Bürgerrecht zugesichert hatte. Der Dom ist eine evangelische Kirche und ein Veranstaltungsort!

„Der Gendarmenmarkt ist ein nach dem ursprünglich hier angesiedelten Kürassierregiment „Gens d’armes“ benannter Platz im Berliner Ortsteil Mitte des gleichnamigen Bezirks. Angelegt bei der Stadterweiterung im Jahr 1688, wurde er im Zweiten Weltkrieg zerstört und 1976–1993 wieder aufgebaut. Auf dem Gendarmenmarkt befinden sich das heute als Konzerthaus genutzte Schauspielhaus von Karl Friedrich Schinkel sowie der Deutsche und Französische Dom von Carl von Gontard. Er gilt als „schönster Platz Berlins“.
In the foreground you can see the German Cathedral at the lower right edge the French Cathedral. In the middle of the Gendarmenmarkt, to the left of the two cathedrals, not visible here, is the Konzerthaus. The French Cathedral was built by the Huguenots, French immigrants who were promised religious freedom and full citizenship by the Great Elector Friedrich Wilhelm of Brandenburg with the Edict of Potsdam in 1685. The cathedral is a protestant church and a venue for events!

"Gendarmenmarkt" is a place named after the originally here settled cuirassier regiment "Gens d'armes" in the Berlin district Mitte of the same name. It was built during the expansion of the city in 1688, was destroyed in the Second World War and rebuilt in 1976-1993. On the Gendarmenmarkt are Karl Friedrich Schinkel's Schauspielhaus, now used as a concert hall, and Carl von Gontard's German and French Cathedral. It is considered the "most beautiful square in Berlin".

This gilt bronze statue of the goddess Sulis Minerva stood in the Roman Temple at Aquae Sulis in Bath, UK which was originally constructed from 60-70 AD. She is a combination of Sulis, a Celtic mother goddess, and Minerva, the Roman goddess of wisdom. A perfect example of the Roman practice of adding local deities to their pantheon, she can be found in the Roman Bath museum today - a lovely example of Roman art.

The brightly colored Gilt-edged Tanager (Tangara cyanoventris) is ENDEMIC to Brazil. It's a small bird about 13 cm in length.
We found this individual in a mixed flock foraging in the company of other species.
Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. The Gilt-edged Tanager feeds on fruits and insects

Ein Märzmorgen in der Sächsischen Schweiz: auf der Basteiaussicht steht man über dem Nebelmeer, welches an diesem Morgen sehr dicht und ausgedehnt über dem Elbtal und den Ebenheiten des Elbsandsteingebirges liegt. Nur die Spitzen der Tafelberge schauen aus der Nebeldecke. Der Mond erhebt sich über der Szenerie, wird aber in wenigen Minuten der aufgehenden Morgensonne weichen müssen.

The future has already begun in Monheim am Rhein near Düsseldorf.
For over a year now, five electric minibuses have been driving through the city on a set route of around two kilometers. The special thing about it: You move automatically. On-board cameras, laser technology and GPS navigation enable the vehicle to drive independently on the road, i.e. without the intervention of a driver.
The Gilt-edged Tanager is a stunning inhabitant of lowland evergreen forest and secondary forest in Eastern Brazil from Bahia south to São Paulo. Gilt-edged Tanagers are brilliantly colored with orange-yellow upperparts with black streaking on the nape and back, black throat patch, turquoise breast and a green belly and undertail coverts.

In China gilt die Litschi, wo sie seit über 3000 Jahren kultiviert wird, als edelste aller Obstsorten und als Liebesfrucht. Sie wächst in Rispen von bis zu 30 Früchten am Litschibaum.. frisch aus der roten noppigen Schale gepult, schmeckt das perlmuttweiße saftige Fleisch fein aromatisch süß-säuerlich.

St. Georg gilt als eine der schönsten Hallenkirchen in Süddeutschland und wirkt trotz langer Bauzeit (1448 - 99) sehr einheitlich, was zumeist am Übergang der Bauleitung vom Vater Eseler auf seinen Sohn mit gleichem Namen lag.
Eine neogotische Purifizierung 1856 musste das Bauwerk über sich ergehen lassen, was jedoch hauptsächlich die Ausstattung betraf. Die schöne Sandsteinkanzel, gefertigt von 1480 - 90 ist von einem Schalldeckel von 1870 überdeckt.
Etwas im Hintergrund - links vom neogotischen Hochaltar
steht das spätgotische Sakramentshaus aus dem Jahre 1480, es ist in Franken für seine Schönheit berühmt.
