Der Blyde River Canyon ist ein 26 Kilometer langer, bis zu 800 Meter tiefer und hauptsächlich aus rotem Sandstein bestehender Canyon. Er befindet sich an der Panorama Route nordöstlich von Johannesburg und gilt als eines der großen Naturwunder Afrikas.
Durch den Blyde River Canyon, der an den Bourke’s Luck Potholes genannten Strudellöchern beginnt, fließt der Fluss Blyde River, der bei dem Thaba Chweu entspringt und in den Olifantsriver fließt.
The Blyde River Canyon is a 26km long Canyon located in Mpumalanga, South Africa. It is the one of the larger canyons on Earth but much smaller than those of Asia, the Grand Canyon and the Fish River Canyon. Unlike the Grand and Fish River Canyon, the Blyde River Canyon is a "green canyon" which is dominated by subtropical vegetation. The canyon forms part of the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve.
Als besonders erstrebenswert gilt es für strenggläubige Hindus, in Varanasi im Ganges zu baden, sowie dort einmal zu sterben und verbrannt zu werden. Ein Bad im Ganges soll von Sünden reinigen, in Varanasi zu sterben und verbrannt zu werden, ist der hinduistischen Mythologie zufolge, der Ausbruch aus dem ständigen Kreislauf der Wiedergeburt.
The Ghats in Varanasi are world-renowned embankments made in steps of stone slabs along the river bank where pilgrims perform ritual ablutions. The ghats are an integral complement to the Hindu concept of divinity represented in physical, metaphysical, and supernatural elements.[90] Varanasi has at least 84 ghats, most of which are used for bathing by pilgrims and spiritually significant Hindu puja ceremony, while a few are used exclusively as Hindu cremation sites. Steps in the ghats lead to the banks of Ganges, including the Dashashwamedh Ghat, the Manikarnika Ghat, the Panchganga Ghat, and the Harishchandra Ghat, where Hindus cremate their dead. Many ghats are associated with Hindu legends and several are now privately owned.
Many of the ghats were constructed under the patronage of the Marathas, Shindes (Scindias), Holkars, Bhonsles, and Peshwas. Most are bathing ghats, while others are used as cremation sites. A morning boat ride on the Ganges across the ghats is a popular tourist attraction. The extensive stretches of ghats in Varanasi enhance the riverfront with a multitude of shrines, temples, and palaces built "tier on tier above the water's edge".

Die Klarinette gilt als "junges Instrument"., es ist in Wirklichkeit recht betagt, ihre Geschichter reicht bis in die Antike zurück. Zum Beispiel in der altgyptischen Arghul, dem arabischen Zummarah und in vielen asiatischen Instrumenten ist das Urbild eines Schnabel-Instrumentes mit einem Rohrblatt vorgebildet.
Von meiner schon sehr alten B-Klarinette mit vielen Gebrauchspuren ist es das von mir sogenannte Herz(Klappen) zusehen. Die Gesamlänge meines Instrumentes beträgt 68 cm.
Die abgebildeten Klappen befinden sich im Unterstück dicht unter dem Oberstück.
Die Klarinette ist überall zu Hause, z.B. Klassik, Kammermusik, Jazz, Blasorchster, Klezmer, sie hat einen warmen runden Ton, kann aber auch schrill klingen.

The clarinet is considered a "young instrument", in reality it is quite old, its history goes back to antiquity. For example, in the ancient Egyptian arghul, the Arabic zummarah and in many Asian instruments the archetype of a beak instrument with a reed is preformed.
From my already very old Bb clarinet with many traces of use it is the so-called heart (keys). The total length of my instrument is 68 cm.
The illustrated keys are located in the lower part just below the upper part.
The clarinet is at home everywhere, e.g. classical music, chamber music, jazz, brass orchestras, klezmer, it has a warm round tone, but can also sound shrill.

Back to a sunset at Worthing beach,It was a day when I thought the cloud would obscure the setting sun but to my delight the cloud bank turned into pure gold for me then the sun squeaked through a gap in the cloud .
The tiny gold button is surrounded by tiny silver buttons (that happen to look like Christmas decorations, which I thought was appropriate given the month) and a thimble to the left. I love sewing accessories although I do not sew myself!

This gilt bronze statue of the goddess Sulis Minerva stood in the Roman Temple at Aquae Sulis in Bath, UK which was originally constructed from 60-70 AD. She is a combination of Sulis, a Celtic mother goddess, and Minerva, the Roman goddess of wisdom. A perfect example of the Roman practice of adding local deities to their pantheon, she can be found in the Roman Bath museum today - a lovely example of Roman art.

I actually love Nathon Beach, even though it is not considered the pearl of Samui. There are more beautiful beaches with fine sand and fancy hotels and restaurants. But maybe that's what I love about Nathon Beach - the best sunset, but no one around...;) It's like kayaking on a deserted lake. For some it's the ultimate solitude, for others it's pure bliss.
When I made the trip from Ao Nang (Krabi) to Koh Samui I was traveling with 12goAsia by bus and ferry and I reached Samui after 6 and a half hour.
Traveling with 12goAsia is absolutely brilliant. I can only recommend it!

Ich liebe den Strand von Nathon, auch wenn er nicht als die Perle von Samui gilt. Es gibt schönere Strände mit feinem Sand und schickeren Hotels und Restaurants. Aber vielleicht ist es genau das, was ich am Nathon Beach so liebe - der schönste Sonnenuntergang, aber kein Mensch in der Nähe...;) Es ist wie Kajakfahren auf einem einsamen See. Für die einen ist es die ultimative Einsamkeit, für die anderen ist es pure Glückseligkeit.
Als ich die Reise von Ao Nang (Krabi) nach Koh Samui machte, war ich mit 12goAsia mit dem Bus und der Fähre unterwegs und erreichte Samui in 6,5 Stunden.
Mit 12goAsia zu reisen ist absolut genial. Ich kann es nur empfehlen!

The brightly colored Gilt-edged Tanager (Tangara cyanoventris) is ENDEMIC to Brazil. It's a small bird about 13 cm in length.
We found this individual in a mixed flock foraging in the company of other species.
Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. The Gilt-edged Tanager feeds on fruits and insects
Der Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, kurz Kirstenbosch, ist ein Botanischer Garten im Stadtteil Newlands von Kapstadt. Er liegt am Osthang des Tafelberges und gilt als einer der schönsten botanischen Gärten der Welt. Er ist mit 528 Hektar der größte von neun Nationalen Botanischen Gärten, die vom South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) betrieben werden.
Am 1. Juli 1913 wurde der Botanische Garten gegründet, sein erster Direktor war Harold Pearson, dessen Grab sich auf dem Gelände befindet.
Der Botanische Garten Kirstenbosch wurde gegründet, um die einzigartige Artenvielfalt der Kapregion zu erhalten. Dieser Grundsatz wird auch heute noch beibehalten, indem nur heimische Pflanzen gezeigt werden. So finden sich Beete speziell für die südafrikanischen Silberbaumgewächse (Proteaceae), die Heidekräuter (Erica), Palmfarne (Cycadeae) und die Restionaceae.
Kirstenbosch is an important botanical garden nestled at the eastern foot of Table Mountain in Cape Town. The garden is one of 10 National Botanical Gardens covering five of South Africa's six different biomes and administered by the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI). Prior to 1 September 2004, the institute was known as the National Botanical Institute.
Kirstenbosch places a strong emphasis on the cultivation of indigenous plants. When Kirstenbosch was founded in 1913 to preserve the flora native to the South Africa’s territory, it was the first botanical garden in the world with this ethos, at a time when invasive species were not considered an ecological and environmental problem.
Here's part of the oldest tree in Amsterdam's Hortus Botanicus, a Turkish Hazel against Autumn Blue. It was planted here in 1795 when the Hortus had already been in this spot in the Amsterdam Plantage well over a hundred years (1682). The garden was founded in 1638 as a Hortus Medicus; and moved to new grounds at the central hospital in 1664. From there to the present location.
Despite its great age - more than 200 years old - our Wonderful Tree remains healthy and sturdy.

Camara de Lobos gilt als der madeirensische Fischerort schlechthin und erlangte Berühmtheit, da der britische Premierminister Winston Churchill den Ort auf einem Gemälde verewigt hat. An diese historische Begebenheit erinnert eine Gedenktafel im Ortskern. Der Ortsname bedeutet Höhle der Mönchsrobben. Heute werden jedoch an diesem Küstenabschnitt kaum mehr Mönchsrobben gesichtet.
Oberhalb der Stadt erstreckt sich Estreito de Câmara de Lobos, das wichtigste Anbaugebiet für den Madeirawein. Im Westen erhebt sich das Cabo Girão, die zweithöchste Steilklippe der Welt (Höhe: 580 m).
The Gilt-edged Tanager is a stunning inhabitant of lowland evergreen forest and secondary forest in Eastern Brazil from Bahia south to São Paulo. Gilt-edged Tanagers are brilliantly colored with orange-yellow upperparts with black streaking on the nape and back, black throat patch, turquoise breast and a green belly and undertail coverts.

In China gilt die Litschi, wo sie seit über 3000 Jahren kultiviert wird, als edelste aller Obstsorten und als Liebesfrucht. Sie wächst in Rispen von bis zu 30 Früchten am Litschibaum.. frisch aus der roten noppigen Schale gepult, schmeckt das perlmuttweiße saftige Fleisch fein aromatisch süß-säuerlich.

Das Disch-Haus gilt als wichtigstes Zeugnis der Neuen Sachlichkeit in der Domstadt Köln und als eines der Hauptwerke des Architekten Bruno Paul. Die Einweihung erfolgte am 1. Februar 1930. Das Bauwerk steht unter Denkmalschutz.
Noch heute wirkt das von Erich Mendelsohns Kaufhausarchitektur beeinflusste Dischhaus modern, doch zur Entstehungszeit muss der Effekt aufsehenerregend, vielleicht schockierend gewesen sein. Zum einen aufgrund seiner Lage, stand es doch gegenüber der romanischen, im 15. Jahrhundert erweiterten Kirche St. Kolumba, einer der ältesten Pfarrkirchen Kölns. Zum anderen war es an der Stelle eines Gebäudes entstanden, das in mehrfacher Hinsicht eine vergangene Epoche verkörperte. Auf dem annähernd dreieckigen, verwinkelten Grundriss hatte zuvor ein Prachtbau der Kaiserzeit gestanden, der mit seinem historistischen Formenvokabular schon architektonisch den exakten Gegenpol zum Neubau verkörperte: das „Hôtel Disch, Cologne“, gegründet 1848.
Im Jahr 1928 beschloss der Aufsichtsrat der Hotel-Disch-AG, das inzwischen unrentabel gewordene Hotel abzureißen und an seiner Stelle ein gewinnversprechenderes Büro- und Geschäftshaus mit einer Nutzfläche von 10.000 Quadratmetern errichten zu lassen.
Die AG lud zu einem Wettbewerb ein, an dem sich zahlreiche renommierte Kölner Architekten beteiligten. Der Zuschlag ging an Bruno Paul und seinen Kompagnon Franz Weber.
Fatou gilt mit 66 Jahren als ältester weiblicher Flachlandgorilla weltweit.
