The red-fronted serin or fire-fronted serin is a small passerine bird in the finch family Fringillidae. It prefers high mountain regions and is 11–12 cm long. This bird breeds in the Caucasus and the higher mountains of Turkey and Iran, with vagrants occasionally reaching the Greek Eastern Aegean Islands in winter.

This is the Serena Hotel in Gilgit. The food there was really yummy. :D

Gilgit has been involved in a lot of fighting, so you can see a lot of army personnel walking around, with the entrance and exit of the town heavily guarded.

Gilgit (Urdu, Shina: گلگت) is the Capital city of Gilgit-Baltistan, an administrative territory of Pakistan. The city of Gilgit constitutes a tehsil within Gilgit District. The city's ancient name was Sargin, later to be known as Gilit, and it is still referred to as Gilit or Sargin-Gilit by local people. In the Burushaski language, it is named Geelt and in Wakhi and Khowar it is called Gilt. Ghallata is considered its name in ancient Sanskrit literature.

14.07.2014 - islamabad to gilgit

Young children of Zulfiqarabad, Gilgit celebrated 24th October, Global Day

of Action on climate change with great zeal and enthusiasm. They demanded

for a safer limit of CO2 in the atmosphere which is 350ppm. To show their

concern for the environment; they conducted a clean campaign of the whole

residential area and also repaired the water supply system to save the water

because they think, climate change will be having severe impacts on water

resources and they need to save even a single drop of it.
