The Bachman & Forry Tobacco Warehouse was built between 1893 and 1895. The structure is a three and one-half story building, 54 feet by 85 feet. Bales of tobacco were moved from floor to floor by a hand operated elevator measuring 8 feet by 8 feet. It was built to serve as a commercial storage building where the bales bought from area farmers were stored and sweated into proper condition.

In the 1930's, the warehouse became the property of the David Forry Tobacco Company. Now it's an antique store. On U.S. National Register of Historic Places

An old ghost sign on a building in Quay St, Worcester

Just going through some of my older film shots that I took back in 2022 and ran across this image taken on the street leading into Trinity Buoy Wharf in east London which I really like. The sign would probably date back to sometime in the 19th century going by when whaling was still a done thing. These days these old signs, recalling businesses now long gone, are called "ghost signs" and there are many all over London. I truly hope that this particular sign will live on for many years to come.

Dear Friends, I have found the most wonderful ad. It's from Aldi and features Kevin the Carrot. Why we don't get this kind of art here in the States I have no idea. I recommend a quick look see and a smile for your day.

Start with this one or might not make as much sense.

The compilation is below. I personally howled with laughter. The British are a wonderful people. And the Germans for producing such a thing at all.

The Australian Joint Stock Bank was a bank in Australia. It operated from 1852 to 1910, after which it became the Australian Bank of Commerce and then was taken over by the Bank of New South Wales (now Westpac) in 1931. I found this sign on a building in Molesworth Street, Lismore, New South Wales.

Ghost sign on a building in Malden (MA) square. The interesting thing is that Black's Furniture & Carpet had ceased being a commercial enterprise almost a century ago and this sign has to at least pre-date the Great Depression, and yet it is still in remarkably good shape.
