The eastbound Chief dashes past the remains of Colmor, NM. With severely reduced ridership due to the global pandemic this train is somewhat of a ghost of its usual self, but it's still more lively than this ghost town on the high plains.

Square Trees Series
Covehithe, Suffolk, England, UK
"I was much further out than you thought. And not waving but drowning."
- Stevie Smith (1972)
The Suffolk coastline on the east of England has some of the worst coastal erosion in Europe. The tiny village of Covehithe has almost been lost to the North Sea, and visitors now come to see the ruins and the crumbling cliffs. Local farmers are losing fields and woodland. When trees topple off the cliff there begins a slow, inexorable surrender to the sea. The waves and sand strip the trees bare, and they take on a smooth aesthetic. At spring tide, the surf comes up to the cliffs and the bones of the trees take on the look of ghostly apparitions clawing for help; not waving, but drowning.
I spent a while lining these trees up so they didn't overlap each other, or the horizon. Hope its not made the shot too clinical?

After an easy warmup day of shooting from the shorelines, we were in for a workout on the second day. Waking up dark and early we were armed with kayaks for on-the-water shooting. Unexpectedly, we encountered a workshop also launching into the same waterway. That was when David became our drill sergeant and had us paddling at warp speed towards the cypress groves. I was still half asleep but tried my best to keep up not knowing where we were going as all I could see was darkness beyond 10 feet.
Once we arrived at ‘the spot’ I again felt lost at what I was looking for. Unable to see much Aaron and I decided to just wait it out a bit for some light to reveal our surroundings. We were treated to a pretty decent sunrise but kept to the task of finding tree arrangements that both gave depth and separation from each other. It took me a bit to get going but soon I started getting the hang of it. This photo was taken during the twilight hours when everything had a ting of coolness to it. Coming to this area at the tail end of fall colors had its perks. Referred to as “ghost trees” cypress trees were mostly bare, showing off their whitish bark and empty branches prominently with occasional splashes of remaining red leaves here and there.
Last but not least, another big thanks to my buddy David who showed us around these swamps and made the trip an absolute blast.
This livin' marshmallow's name is Ghost. He's awesome to work with, even though he's a handful! People breed these in captivity for their fur (which is how this one got rescued) and also for pets. As much as he is a joy to help care for, I can honestly say that he would not make a good pet! Imagine an animal with the worst qualities of both a cat and a dog, and you've got an idea of what a fox is like! They quick, agile, excellent jumpers, intelligent, make a huge mess, mark their territory constantly, get riled up easily, don't get along with house pets, smell bad, and like to eat rodents. On top of that, they do not trust people easily. In fact, I've read that a fox will never trust a person who works with reptiles, which would explain A LOT lol.
Luckily, this guy has a good home at a nature center where he gets the proper care he needs. He also has an important job as an education animal!
Lets dance in style, lets dance for a while
Heaven can wait were only watching the skies
Hoping for the best but expecting the worst
Are you going to drop the bomb or not?
Let us die young or let us live forever
We dont have the power but we never say never
Sitting in a sandpit, life is a short trip
The musics for the sad men
Can you imagine when this race is won
Turn our golden faces into the sun
Praising our leaders were getting in tune
The musics played by the madmen
Forever young, I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever, forever and ever
Some are like water, some are like the heat
Some are a melody and some are the beat
Sooner or later they all will be gone
Why dont they stay young
Its so hard to get old without a cause
I dont want to perish like a fading horse
Youth is like diamonds in the sun
And dimonds are forever
So many adventures couldnt happen today
So many songs we forgot to play
So many dreams are swinging out of the blue
We let them come true. . .

There is a lady on the left side of the picture. She was dressed like an old homesteader. I quickly tried to shoot the picture before she came into frame, but I never succeeded.

Bannack, Montana Ghost town
Founded in 1862 and named after the local Bannock natives, Bannack was the site of a major gold discovery in 1862, and served as the capital of Montana Territory briefly in 1864, until the capital was moved to Virginia City. Bannack continued as a mining town, though with a dwindling population. The last residents left in the 1970s.
At its peak, Bannack had a population of about ten thousand. Extremely remote, it was connected to the rest of the world only by the Montana Trail. There were three hotels, three bakeries, three blacksmith shops, two stables, two meat markets, a grocery store, a restaurant, a brewery, a billiard hall, and four saloons. Though all of the businesses were built of logs, some had decorative false fronts.
In the dead of night it's often heard rattling and clanking on it's way to Weybourne.
It slid past me as I travelled the A149.

Into the darkness
Into the fear
Swept away by the past
And ghosts that re-appear
Who will you run to
When you’re feeling down
And who will you turn to
When it’s all gone
Fallen angel
Lost your wings
Can’t find your way back home
Haunted by the painful sting
Dreams of heaven
Have turned to flames of hell
Just when you least expected
Under her spell . . .

nice to get a picture of the male northern harrier as they were easily being outnumbered about 10 -1
There are two ghosts. They're the same man.
This scene is only a bit over a minute. He just couldn't wait and kept throwing the fishing line here and there. And eventually disappeared onto the jetty. I don't think he caught any fish.
When the room is quiet,
The daylight almost gone,
It seems there's something I should know...
Well, I ought to leave
But the rain it never stops
And I've no particular place to go
Just when I think I'm winning
When I've broken every door
The ghosts of my life
Blow wilder than before
Just when I thought I could not be stopped
When my chance came to be king
The ghosts of my life
Blew wilder than the wind
Well, I'm feeling nervous,
Now I find myself alone,
The simple life's no longer there
Once I was so sure
Now the doubt inside my mind
Comes and goes, but leads nowhere...
This is a panoramic view of the Roman Arena at Nimes.
The ghost is taken from the statue of Emporor Trajan AD 98 - 117, which is near the Tower of London.
The effect was achieved by photo-editing and by colouring in a way that is not strictly historically true!.
