I was stunned when I first saw this strange looking herp. It looks like it put on a Halloween getup with that black horned mask. I posted several shots prior and no one commented on seeing similar. It's a juvenile lizard only about three inches in length. I finally concluded that the "black mask" must be attached dried skin from an incomplete shedding. Like for snakes and other herps, this guy must regularly make a new skin sheath as it grows... the skin stretch is very limited. This was initially an exciting find... but likely not a new species or photo "lifer"! (Tis the season... this may be its Halloween getup )

The morning was replete with short bursts of rain. Despite of that, the race still had plenty of those that dressed up just for fun as well as those that dressed up for something very meaningful. Here are a few favorites. Enjoy!

These are probably my favorite looks from the Deluxe Fashion Gift Set. But that's not entirely fair, since the Frozen II outfits were more interesting for me, being that I already owned several dolls from the original movie. Anna and Kristoff's getups are especially exciting. I love how they don more autumnal shades, as opposed to Elsa's traditional icy princess look. Kristoff's ensemble is particularly amazing quality. The shirt is super soft and fleecy! Anna's dress/coat are more what you'd expect...quite flimsy and cheap. But I had that expectation being that Anna and Elsa each came with not one, not two, but FOUR outfits in this pack! Poor Kristoff got ripped off in the wardrobe department and only came with two fashions (thus why you'll see him repeating looks in the four photos of this pack). Although I can't see Anna or Elsa's dresses holding up to extensive play, they work wonderfully for display or light usage. The dolls themselves are so breathtaking, that they make up for any shortage in quality (Kristoff's golden glistening hair leaves me speechless). This pack was a dream come true! I'm so glad I found it for 40% off on the Disney Store website right after the the 2021 New Year. I didn't even know that there was such a set, until I decided to browse online. I should also note that these dolls were my first order ever from the Disney Store's website. Prior to that, I hadn't bought anything brand new from the Disney Store since we made a long trip to one in 2014! I happened to find these dollies on the right day. I always wanted Disney Store Anna and Kristoff dolls (I already found my dream Elsa at the Salvation Army some years before). Plus, who can say no to extra outfits?!!!

I bought this vinyl getup literally years ago with the intention of doing a shoot with Lyla and we finally managed to make it happen. But only very briefly, because it was COLD AS HECK, so we need to shoot again some time with it when it's not quite so awful.
It can be interesting to examine what runners wear. In this case, she is wearing gloves...and a sports bra.
The issue with running is that it is very easy to overheat. At the same time, extremities can get cold - so the sports bra and gloves combination might not be as weird as it seems.
On the other hand (no pun intended), hands eventually warm up, too, and then get too hot. I personally have to remove gloves in all but the most extreme circumstances (like, for example, a St. Patrick's Day run that I did one time when it was 15 degrees F outside).
Iโm not sure about this getupโฆ.but the light is perfect.

"The image of a Syrian child's lifeless body washed up on the shores of a Turkish beach this week brought the world to its knees. His name was Aylan Kurdi, and he was just three years old.
The sad reality is that Aylan was one among millions of desperate people forced to flee from war and persecution. The world is facing a global refugee crisis on a scale we've not seen since WWII, but Australia - our lucky country of a fair go for all - is not doing enough. We can do better to help these people.
We need to do better."

PERSONAL FUN FACT: This might be my favorite Bratz beach themed getup of all time. That is saying a lot, considering there have been tons of beach collections released over the years (and those Sun-Kissed Summer gals have really beautiful, detailed, well made ensembles). But taking into consideration all the other lovely beach/tropical Bratz lines, I still have to say that this is my favorite outfit ever. First off, let's talk about that knit top! It completely captures Yasmin's bohemian aesthetic, and it is very well made. It reminds me so very much of the Sun-Kissed Summer dolls, who had lots of knit things in their collection. This color orange is also to die for! It makes Yasmin's golden skin tone pop, and it makes her the eye catcher from this line. Then there are her shorts--which are very unexpected for a Bratz doll. I never thought that a bright yellow pair of printed beach themed shorts would look sassy on a Bratz doll, but I stand corrected. These shorts remind me of a stylish version of Swim Buddies Tommy's! The color works great with Yasmin's knit top, and that print is darling! Then there are Yasmin's bold shoes--I love the fresh, vibrant shade of teal they are. It works wonderfully with Yasmin's tan. I also love how it picks up on the subtle teal color in the print of her shorts. It's really all the little details about this ensemble that tie it together. And of course, I'm going to mention the obvious here--that shoe mold is flawless! The tassels are totally unexpected and the once again hint towards Yasmin's boho theme. Since her outfit is so attention grabbing and vibrant, her bag is a bit more toned down. I like how it is a traditional woven beach bag with a teal scarf on it (which once again picks up on the color of her shoes). Her earrings are the most practical for this line as well--don't get me wrong, the other girls have way more unique, funky molds, but these ones actually look wearable, and they match Yasmin's shorts flawlessly.
Apart from the Vape, this chap looked slightly out of his time, leaning waiting for the bus.
This is a crop of a full-body shot as the detail looks better closer to 100%. Lingering chatting to a friend on the other side of a busy street he still clocked the lens being raised in his peripheral vision.
I like long lenses in the street to get good isolation but they aren't very subtle and definitely have to be aimed.

***This outfit is modeled on Girl of the Year 2005 Marisol Luna.
PERSONAL FUN FACT: Marisol looks like an ethereal princess modeling this Pastel Party Dress. I thought this getup was adorable the first time I saw it (although the doll that American Girl chose to model this on looked kind of odd in it if you ask me). Anyways, I never planned to purchase this so soon, if at all. I mostly focus on buying historical American Girl outfits brand new. At the end of May 2023, I had a rewards coupon for $20 which I planned to purchase Kit's School Outfit with. Just days before the coupon expired, American Girl did a site wide sale (where you saved a certain percentage depending on how much you spent). I admit, I was naughty and ended up ordering more things than just Kit's dress (which was excluded from the sale as it was too new). I realized that Courtney's new Strawberry Shortcake pjs were also excluded from the sale, so I couldn't pick those out for my sister (why pay full price when they would qualify for future sales in a few months). I decided to check out the Truly Me section and see what was available. This dress caught my eye. I don't own anything like it---it's so whimsical and charming. After some debate, I decided that I'd get this. I really love the pastel tulle and the coordinating headband. The shoes seem off to me...they kill the fantasy vibe a bit (I get that American Girl was going for a modern/casual twist). Personally, I would have paired this outfit with pastel colored flats or little sandals with tulle bows.

Oddly enough, this was my plan for my SP today even before I saw Dr.Irish . My two reasons for the nurse getup tonight are as follows:
1. I have a bag of props for when I have no ideas. It was a stethoscope or a pirate.
2. I have recently recovered from my disdain of all things regarding nursing.
Now any nurses out there, please take no offense. My issues with nurses have nothing to do with nurses or nursing in general but of course a man. My heart was broken by a man who cheated on me for a year with our close mutual friend who was of course in nursing school. During her winter break and without my knowledge, they escaped to the Bahamas for a week, completely missing my birthday. Not long after was her graduation. Being the good friend that I am, threw her a giant graduation party, including all her favorite dishes, and a cake with a picture of her at her graduation on it. I now believe he was actually the one who took the picture at the graduation instead of being home sick like he told me. Regardless, after a year of this, he finally admitted cheating on me, via the phone of course. Not long after, they were engaged and eventually married. Needless to say I was heartbroken, causing me to hate anything that could remotely remind me of the situation. I couldn't see a nurse without the feelings of panic and betrayal creeping up on me.
Years have passed and I have moved on but still have some lingering anxiety ridden moments. My best friend is now ready to enter *EDIT* the medical field and it's time for me to associate good with the image.
Make that 3 reasons - Dyxie's sick and may need my bedside manor.;)

After a week or so with an Apple Watch, it's really motivating me to getup and be active. The Activity Circles give you a quick glance at what needs work, and the goal is to complete the circles - all 360ยฐ of them.
Where the inner circle is a prompt to stand up every hour over for 12 hours, the lime green is for exercise (30 minutes), and the outer ring is a calorie tracker (640). I may have to adjust that latter goal, because it's the hardest to complete!
They are not lofty goals by any means, but goals all the same. On the plus side, I get on average an hour of exercise a day. Baby steps...

My Barbie and the Rockers lady came with a pair of handmade earrings her previous owner gave her. However, I wanted something EXTRA spicy for her. She is from the 80s after all, and wears a gaudy hot pink and silver star getup. I recycled the simple silver stars on my Jewel Hair Mermaid Midge, shown beside Barbie. I also took earrings from Rollerblade Kira, to make these for Midge. I changed Rollerblade Kira's outfit (she was from the "Mountains of Monsters Lot, just like Rocker Barbie). The beautiful pair of earrings her previous owner made would no longer match the different outfit. I just had to use these fabulous green beads right away. I ended up combining Rocker Barbie and Kira's pairs to make one set for Midge. I can't claim credit for the arrangement of the little green beads--they were placed this way by someone else (who makes wonderful handmade jewelry might I add). I like that the stars compliment Midge's jewel mermaid aesthetic. But the green beads match the fashion pack I dressed her in.
For my Rocker Barbie, I wondered from the get go if I could get away with using these HUGE star charms. I bought them at Michael's with a gift card for my birthday in 2022. I mostly thought of American Girls when I picked them out. However, I figured fashion dollies could use them too, if they had large enough heads. Barbie somehow can actually pull them off. I didn't have any other pink stars to utilize, so my only choice were these massive ones. And I just HAD to incorporate stars...her outfit is covered in them! I added a couple solid silver beads to tie in the her silver pants (and for a bit of length so the stars would hang more flatteringly).
Speaking of stars, my Rainbow Hair Barbie has them too. Her stars are much daintier. I got these clear star charms from a bracelet at a thrift store for 75 cents. I always keep my eyes pealed for cool, inexpensive jewelry I can recycle for dolls. You don't have to spend a ton of money to make fun pieces for your plastic friends. I don't have this doll's original ensemble, so I based her earrings all around the fashion pack she wears. I went for a bold black, pink, and star theme to match the fashion. These are easily my favorite pair from the collage. They do SO much for Barbie, and this dress is one of my faves in my collection.
I stole the idea I had for Ghouls' Night Out Ghoulia's earrings for my beloved Dream Glow Barbie. My sister picked out this 80s fashion pack for her to don, since she does not have her factory dress at this time. Barbie's not mad about it though...she was decapitated when I got her (her neck joint had oddly snapped in half). Anyways, The dress she sports is very sleek, simple, and elegant. I didn't want her jewelry to be too distracting. That's why I chose one statement charm...these awesome purple hoops. I wanted them to be large, but not overly detailed...these hoops did the trick. Yes, they are quite gaudy, and definitely not for everyone. But I love the way these compliment not just the dress, but also Barbie's fabulous purple eyes.
