It was a beautiful sunrise this morning at Dream Lake. This time of year is so special because we get a great combination of snow, alpenglow and reflections.
I love this National Park. The high desert is so special. When I stand at a vista like this I feel like it's a part of me and I'm a part of it. I'm proud to call the western US my home.
The mysterious dancing aspens near Telluride, CO. I had some very nice light on these beautiful trees to help illustrate their unique nature.
Out on the South West Wales coastal path after a weekend in Dorset. I am always surprised by the similarity of both locations, particularly the geology and ruggedness of the cliffs. This image was taken on the Castlemartin Range, a wonderfully unspoilt part of the coast. The bay certainly lives up to its name - it was blowing hard and i had to hold on to the tripod to get a steady shot. Great fun in a great place.
I went out this morning to look around Garden of the Gods under a blanket of snow. I love the way the sunlight colors the snow.
This tree has been on my bucket list for some time. I was so happy we timed our trip just right to see it at the height of fall color. It is a beautiful little tree.
This is a very tough shot to take. The water spray is relentless. But, when I saw a little color in the evening sky, I had to venture back in for one more shot.

I saw more Columbines at American basin than I had ever seen before. We seemed to get there at peak bloom too.
Seeing these beautiful little flowers carpet a majestic landscape is emotional. So glad i got to experience it.
I love this little tree and have captured it before. But this morning had the best color, clouds and light. Another beautiful morning in Moab.
Kay and I did some snowshoeing in Rocky Mountain National Park to start 2020. The first few days were varying degrees of blizzard. :(
Our last morning we went out before dawn and trekked across frozen Bear Lake where we found some exposed ice. I'm glad we got there early, because the sky really lit up for a couple minutes. Happy New Year

This is one shot out of at least 100 I took of this scene. I loved the color of the ferns against the white aspen trunks. The light shining through this aspen alley really highlighted the scene for me.
Tech Info: I was originally going for the sun burst in the tress. I have a lot of shots with a sun burst in it, but those shots also had a lot of lens flare and less atmosphere. I'm glad I had a few without it because I actually liked it much better.
Explosion of Life - I used an ultra wide lens for the last set of photos I took of this amazing tree. I'm very glad I thought of it because it gave me that amazing explosion of branches I was looking for.
As we watch this damned virus explode over our country, I'm going to think of this tree as a symbol of how we will rise up after we have triumphed over it.
This was taken the weekend before last. Most of the Columbines were on a steep slope, but it was worth the climb to get a nice composition.
Iconic locations are iconic for good reason. The fun part about a location that 1000s of other people have photographed before you, is creating something that feels like it's all yours.
I am just getting around to looking at some of my fall color photos. I remember this scene. We just arrived and I saw the this beautiful light on Mt. Sneffels. I almost fell over my tripod trying to get set up in time to catch it.
