The step pyramid has five square terraces, then two octagonal intermediate steps and finally the classic cylindrical stupa structure with bell, turban, double lotus, banana bud and hti. Stairs lead up to the fifth terrace on the four sides. They used to serve the faithful so that they could reach the terracotta slabs with scenes from the Jatakas on the individual terraces, which have since disappeared; nowadays tourists go up to admire the sunset.
So do we, of course.
Schloss Charlottenburg (Charlottenburg Palace) is a Baroque palace in Berlin, located in Charlottenburg, a district of the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf borough.
The palace was built at the end of the 17th century and was greatly expanded during the 18th century. It includes much lavish internal decoration in Baroque and Rococo styles. A large formal garden surrounded by woodland was added behind the palace, including a belvedere, a mausoleum, a theatre and a pavilion. During the Second World War, the palace was badly damaged but has since been reconstructed. The palace with its gardens is a major tourist attraction.
The name origin of Pelkum can be derived from the two syllables: the Old Saxon "Pel" means pole or palisade. "Kum" can be translated with home or homestead, which is also indicated by the old name "Pilicheim."
The first settlements over 1000 years ago were probably surrounded by trees or wooden stakes.
In Pelkum there is a memorial plaque and an honorary grave for those killed in the fighting of the Red Ruhr Army. It is said that the most violent battles took place there in 1920.
Pelkum was part of the Pelkum office in Hamm County when the offices were established in the Prussian Province of Westphalia. On the occasion of the outcropping of the city of Hamm on April 1, 1901, the district of Hamm was formed. After an expansion in 1929, it was renamed Unna County in October 1930.

Huis Bergh is a castle in 's-Heerenberg and is one of the largest castles in the Netherlands. It gives its name to the Land van den Bergh and was previously owned by the counts van Bergh.
The building history dates back to the 13th century. The main parts of the castle are from the 14th, 15th and 17th century. In the beginning of the Dutch Revolt the house got damaged by war. In 1735 the castle burned down. In 1912 Huis Bergh and all belongings became the property of Jan Herman van Heek, an industrialist from Enschede. He restored the buildings. In 1939 there was another major fire. Thanks to the help of locals most of the furniture was rescued. Renovation began the same year and was completed in 1941.
Lago de Atitlan with first sunlight over Volcán San Pedro. Lake Atitlán (Spanish: Lago de Atitlán) is a lake in the Guatemalan Highlands of the Sierra Madre mountain range. It is in the Sololá Department of southwestern Guatemala. It is the deepest lake in Central America.
Atitlán means "between the waters". In the Nahuatl language, "atl" is the word for water, and "titlan" means between. The "tl" at the end of the word "atl" is dropped (because it is a grammatical suffix) and the words are combined to form "Atitlán".
The first volcanic activity in the region occurred about 11 million years ago, and since then the region has seen four separate episodes of volcanic growth and caldera collapse, the most recent of which began about 1.8 million years ago and culminated in the formation of the present caldera. The lake now fills a large part of the caldera, reaching depths of up to 340 m (1,120 ft).
The caldera-forming eruption is known as Los Chocoyos eruption and ejected up to 300 km3 (72 cu mi) of tephra. The enormous eruption dispersed ash over an area of some 6,000,000 square kilometres (2,300,000 sq mi): it has been detected from Florida to Ecuador, and can be used as a stratigraphic marker in both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans (known as Y-8 ash in marine deposits).[8] A chocoyo is a type of bird which is often found nesting in the relatively soft ash layer.
Since the end of Los Chocoyos, continuing volcanic activity has built three volcanoes in the caldera. Volcán Atitlán lies on the southern rim of the caldera, while Volcán San Pedro and Volcán Tolimán lie within the caldera. San Pedro is the oldest of the three and seems to have stopped erupting about 40,000 years ago. Tolimán began growing after San Pedro stopped erupting and probably remains active, although it has not erupted in historic times. Atitlán has developed almost entirely in the last 10,000 years and remains active, its most recent eruption having occurred in 1853.
On February 4, 1976, a very large earthquake (magnitude 7.5) struck Guatemala, killing more than 26,000 people. The earthquake fractured the lake bed and caused subsurface drainage from the lake, allowing the water level to drop two metres (6 ft 7 in) within one month.

The town church Ludwigsburg is a Protestant church building in the core city of Ludwigsburg.
The town church was built between 1718 and 1726 by master builder Donato Giuseppe Frisoni as a baroque preaching church on the west side of the market square. Already in 1720, before the completion of the two towers, the office of a city councilor (tower-blower) had been established, which still exists today.
St.-Candidus-Kirche in Kentheim,

Unfortunately, Nuremberg's history also includes various monumental Nazi buildings, including the Congress Hall. Although the buildings devour enormous sums of money every year, they are preserved as a reminder to future generations that this part of German history must never be repeated. A documentation center that is housed among other things in this building should contribute to this and also enlighten. Visiting the exhibitions is part of the curriculum of all schools.

Calakmul (also Kalakmul) was a powerful Mayan city during the classical period. Along with El Mirador and Tikal, Calakmul is one of the largest Mayan cities ever discovered. Calakmul is located around 300 km southeast of the city of Campeche (Mexico) in the state of the same name.
Calakmul spread over an area of approximately 30 square kilometers and had over 100 colossal buildings; a total of more than 5000 buildings are known. The so-called "structures" I and II dominate here. The latter has a height of approx. 45 meters. However, most of Calakmul has not been excavated or explored in depth. Only speculations can be made about the population. A population of around 50,000 people is assumed for the city center.

MYANMAR, Burma - Sunset on Mandalay Hill
Most visitors come to the 236 m high Mandalay Hill to enjoy the sunset from the terrace of the Wish Fulfillment Pagoda. From up here you have a breathtaking view of the city with its many monasteries, the Ayeyarwady River, which is the country's lifeline, and the Shan Mountains in the distance.
Many tourists are driven up the mountain. However, it is nicer to walk up the 1700 steps from the south entrance of the mountain. We pass souvenir shops and food stands. Halfway up there is a large golden Buddha figure, pointing at the city of Mandalay with an outstretched arm. According to legend, Buddha said that at the foot of this mountain, in the year 2400 of the Buddhist calendar, a great city would arise here. For this reason, in 1857, King Mingon moved the royal city of Amarapura here to the foot of the mountain. Again and again you come across sacrificial sites and Buddha figures when climbing the mountain.
The pagoda at the top is an architectural feat. It consists of many small open rooms, which are separated from each other by large round arches. The walls are covered all over with glass and mirror mosaics. A special atmosphere is created when the red, setting sun is reflected in the mosaics.

The Salzspeicher (salt storehouses) of Lübeck, Germany, are six historic brick buildings on the Upper Trave River next to the Holstentor (the western city gate).
Built in the 16th–18th centuries, the houses stored salt that was mined near Lüneburg and brought to Lübeck over the Stecknitz Canal. The salt was then shipped to several ports in the Baltic region, where the commodity was relatively rare, but was in high demand for the preservation of food. The salt trade from the late Middle Ages onward was a major reason for the power of Lübeck and the Hanseatic League

John Stark (Born in August 28th, 1728 – Died in May 8th, 1822) was a New Hampshire native who served as a major general in the Continental Army during the American Revolution. He became widely known as the "Hero of Bennington" for his exemplary service at the Battle of Bennington in 1777.
Wind tunnels are large tubes with air blowing through them. The tunnels are used to replicate the actions of an object flying through the air or moving along the ground. Researchers use wind tunnels to learn more about how an aircraft will fly. NASA uses wind tunnels to test scale models of aircraft and spacecraft. Some wind tunnels are large enough to contain full-size versions of vehicles. The wind tunnel moves air around an object, making it seem as if the object is really flying.
In 1908, the Düsseldorf-based Central-trade-ssociation for Rhineland, Westphalia and neighbouring districts praised a competition for a fountain in front of the Düsseldorf Art Palace.
As a "figurative representation of the iron industry and the mining industry," it was to be sent to the 1902 on the site on the banks of the Rhine (then Kaiser Wilhelm Park, now Rheinpark) the industrial and commercial exhibition was held.
Among the 44 designs submitted, the jury, which was prominently occupied by the painter Fritz Roeber, the painter Georg Oeder, the architect Wilhelm Kreis and the Düsseldorf garden director Walter von Engelhardt, was Prize awarded, so also do not recommend a design for execution. It was initially planned to give the authors of the shortlisted drafts the opportunity to revise them in a second stage of competition (a closer competition).
The fountain was built in its original form between 1911 and 1913. While the Düsseldorf architect Gotthold Nestler designed the actual well complex, the sculptor Friedrich Coubillier created the three bronze figures "Schmied Vulkan," "Bergmann" and "Hüttenarbeiter." Miner and cottage worker are depicted in the loincloth. The bronze casting of the figures took place at the Kunstgießerei Lauchhammer.
On the occasion of the opening of the Grand Art Exhibition in 1913, the industrial fountain in front of the former Art Palace was inaugurated. In 1925 the fountain was dismantled there because of the extensive new buildings at the Ehrenhof.
In 1939, the three sculptures were erected in a new facility on Fürstenplatz in Friedrichstadt. In 1942 the figures were to be melted down as metal donations by the German people for armaments and were removed. However, they remained intact, and in 1950 they were restored.

The church Saint Elisabeth is the Catholic parish church of Eisenach. It was built after approval of the Grand Duke Carl Alexander in the years from 1886 to 1888 after plans of the Kasseler architects Hugo Schneider in the neo-Gothic style.
Church patroness is holy Elisabeth, landgravine of Thuringia whose life is closely connected with Eisenach and Wartburg. The Marburger Elisabethkirche – above all their tower form – was a model for the a lot of smaller Eisenacher construction.
In Eisenach which belongs to the heartland of the Reformation there had been more than three centuries no Catholics.
Only about 1840 a small municipality had originated from immigration for which on the property of the today's Elisabethkirche a small oratory could be established and be celebrated in the feast day of Saint Elizabeth of Thuringia, the 19th of November, 1844, the first holy mass.

Becan is an archaeological site of the Maya civilization in pre-Columbian Mesoamerica. Becan is located near the center of the Yucatán Peninsula, in the present-day Mexican state of Campeche,Archaeological evidence shows that Becan was occupied in the middle Preclassic Maya period, about 550 BCE, and grew to a major population and ceremonial center a few hundred years later in the late Preclassic.
The Nodir-Devonbegi-Chanaqa is a chanaqa in the Uzbek city of Buxoro.
The Chanaqa is located in the historic center of Buxoro and is part of the building ensemble Labi Hovuz. It lies directly west of the water basin and is opposed to the Nodir-Devonbegi-Madrasa in the Kosch principle. It is the ensemble building closest to the pool, so that its facade is reflected on the surface of the water. About 100 meters west of the Chanaqa lies the Magʻoki-Attori Mosque.
in 1620 by and is named after Nodir Devonbegi, the uncle and grand vizier of Imam Quli Khan. It was created simultaneously with the central water basin and served as a dwelling and meeting place for the dervishes and as a hostel for the pilgrims.
The Chanaqa was rebuilt several times and fundamentally restored by Syed Olimxon in 1914-16 under Alim Khan, the last emir of the Emirate of Bukhara.
The building has a rectangular floor plan with a floor area of 25 × 35 meters. The Pischtak with the pointed-arched entrance Ivan protruding above the roof edge is covered with coloured patterns. The three-quarters round corner towers closing with the roof edge are moved close to the Pischtak, so that the storefront appears much narrower than with the other buildings of the ensemble.
A large dome rises above the cross-shaped main hall. There are niches in the coupled-over main hall, which are closed with muqarnas. In the corners of the building, the living rooms for the dervishes and the pilgrims lie on two floors.

Tromsø is a municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the city of Tromsø.
Tromsø lies in Northern Norway. The 2,521-square-kilometre (973 sq mi) municipality is the 18th largest by area out of the 422 municipalities in Norway. Tromsø is the 9th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 71,590 (2014). The municipality's population density is 30.6 inhabitants per square kilometre (79/sq mi) and its population has increased by 15.9% over the last decade.[6][7] It is the largest urban area in Northern Norway and the third largest north of the Arctic Circle anywhere in the world (following Murmansk and Norilsk). Most of Tromsø, including the city centre, is located on the island of Tromsøya, 350 kilometres (217 mi) north of the Arctic Circle. In 2017, the city of Tromsø had a population of about 65,000 people spread out over Tromsøya and parts of Kvaløya and the mainland. Tromsøya is connected to the mainland by the Tromsø Bridge and the Tromsøysund Tunnel, and to the island of Kvaløya by the Sandnessund Bridge.
The municipality is warmer than most other places located on the same latitude, due to the warming effect of the Gulf Stream. Tromsø is even milder than places much farther south of it elsewhere in the world, such as on the Hudson Bay and in Far East Russia, with the warm-water current allowing for both relatively mild winters and tree growth in spite of its very high latitude.
The city centre of Tromsø contains the highest number of old wooden houses in Northern Norway, the oldest house dating from 1789. The city is a cultural centre for its region, with several festivals taking place in the summer. Torbjørn Brundtland and Svein Berge of the electronica duo Röyksopp and Lene Marlin grew up and started their careers in Tromsø. Noted electronic musician Geir Jenssen also hails from Tromsø.

This, too, is part of Nuremberg, albeit part of the city's dark history.
The Zeppelin Tribune with Führer's gallery on the Zeppelin Field of the Nazi Party Rally Grounds. As the name suggests, the field was also a landing field for zeppelins. Among other things, the Hindenburg also landed several times in Nuremberg.
The neoclassicism of the early 20th century was monumentally exaggerated in National Socialist architecture. Sublime, powerful and awe-inspiring it was to be, built for eternity. And so the plans for the Nuremberg Nazi Party Rally Grounds lacked color or ornamental elements; cold gray was the predominant color. Many buildings on the site were not completed because of the war. Today they are monuments and memorials at the same time, and are visited by many tourists.
Once a year, the area around the grandstand serves as a race track for the Norisring. A car race is held here as part of the German Touring Car Championships.
Nikolaischule
Nikolai school
The history of the Alte Nikolaischule goes back to the end of the 12th century. On March 11, 1395, the councilors of the city of Leipzig were decreed by Pope Boniface IX. authorized to build a city school at Nikolaikirchhof or the surrounding area.
