I made my way around High Dune to the west to capture this view of the early sunlight on east facing dunes.

I don't normally post 2 days in a row but after my last post I got to thinking about how wonderful this world is with creatures as small as insects to those as large as elephants. And who doesn't love ephilants! This family were gathered at a waterhole near dusk drinking together. Bit of an excerpt from GG#1 :
There is nothing like the feeling when a large parade of these wild amazing & majestic gentle giants walks around the open jeep you are sitting in while on safari in the South African bush, specifically at Sabi Sands reserve (& staying at the very appropriately named Elephants Plains Lodge). Unforgettable. They really are amazing animals!
Cheers all

I plan to visit everyone before I disappear to enjoy a break in our desert heat (only 90F)!

Elephants are gentle giants, who show great care toward their herd, offspring and elders. This symbolizes responsibility, determination and loyalty. Patience: Elephants are also a symbol for keeping calm and having patience as elephants are generally calm and mellow creatures, unless their young or herd is threatened
Most African elephants are diurnal though some herds who live near human populations have become mostly nocturnal to avoid human interactions.

The Anderson Valley wine country is about 100 miles north of San Francisco and was bathed in gorgeous late afternoon sun when I drove through it on Highway 128.
My attention was caught by the sheep I saw in the vineyards, a scene that is just instantly pleasing! I had to pull over and get a picture of this.
In recent years it has become popular in northern California to use sheep for sustainable and ecologically aware management of vineyards. They eat weeds and fertilize at the same time and are cheaper than gasoline-powered farm equipment and do not contribute to erosion. Common sense rediscovered!
Exploring further into the Mail Rail network, this tunnel curves gently around to bring us, eventually, to the East Loop platform. The exploration down here is fascinating.
The Mail Rail tunnels were used to transport mail all around London on a network of automated underground electric trains. It opened in 1927, and only ceased service in 2003.
Nature is painting for us, day after day, pictures of infinite beauty if only we have the eyes to see them.

A pair of mourning doves has a nest somewhere in our yard. They are so timid they will wait until the smallest finch has left the pond before they will fly down for a quick bath.

a lovely garden in a seed,
