I bought myself a Nikon D3300 yesterday - I had been tempted to test it for a long time. Doing some macro in the yard yesterday was so much fun ! And so many more tricks to learn from it. Just look at the EXIF to check on technical data my friends. 😊🍀💕
Remember early last year when Storm Freya paid an energetic visit to our shores one feisty weekend at the beginning of March? Possibly not; after all the storms seem to roll in one after another towards the end of the winter around here. This year it was the same, with Ciara, Dennis and Jorge arriving from the west to enliven February. Apparently the last one was due to be named Ellen in keeping with the alphabetical sequencing theme, but our friends in Spain saw it first and gave it a more continental flavour. We do get a lot of storms along the west coast of the British Isles. At least they had the decency to arrive at the weekends to bring a bit of drama to our photographic adventures.
Freya was also a weekend visitor, and it seemed rude not to head five miles down the road to Portreath to watch the action, elbow to elbow with a generous number of fellow camera wielding visitors as is always the case when the weather gets a bit exciting here. Eventually I managed to entrench myself in my favorite corner of the few square yards that provide this vantage point. In this chosen spot you can watch incoming rollers that race towards the inner harbour drench the unsuspecting viewers on the edge of the quay below as you wonder whether you should have warned them (although I suspect they're aware and they do it for fun). Occasionally one of the bigger waves will carry enough force to even reach our lofty position so you have to be ready to spin through one hundred and eighty degrees and crouch down rapidly to protect your precious camera equipment. It doesn't matter how weatherproof the camera is. Sea waterproof it is not.
On this visit I didn't bother with a tripod - a rare thing - and I set the camera in burst mode. This resulted in sifting through almost 700 RAW files later in the day, from which I picked a few. Sometimes I feel that the more fun I have actually taking the shots, the less pleasure it brings when I have to decide which of the fruits of my labour I'm going to work with. Until recently I'd left the folder full of images untouched, but just a few days ago I decided I needed to clear some space on the laptop. 700 files became a still confusing 28, which made this morning's happy little spell of absent minded pottering about in Lightroom slightly easier than it otherwise would have been. It's still challenging, because every image I've kept has a different aspect that catches my eye. What I liked about this one was the curtain of water cascading from the harbour wall.
The are probably still one or two more I might share from this session. Once I've furrowed my brow at the remaining 27 shots in confusion that is.

This is a painting I did on wood, many years ago, after my Mother died, as a tribute to her, she was a brave woman and lived life against the odds and won. She was strong, persistent, worked very hard, was generous to a fault and helped shape me the way I am. I miss you Mother and will love you always!!!

So thankful for the generosity others show our family. We’ve been given eggs multiple times by different people, as well as being blessed by many other generous forms of sharing. This image serves as a reminder of the kindness we have been shown by others.
So thankful for these eggs that were generously given to our family (this is two dozen of the five dozen that were given), that helped provide some meals for our family. I was captivated by the colors and unique features of each of the eggs as I carefully washed them and found them and the goodness and meaning behind them so beautiful that I was compelled to photograph them.
The very generous owner of this Ami 8 drove me around Munich to see the sights in this car, so it was convenient to pull over for a photo when the light was perfect and there was a suitable background. In addition, there was a wonderful dinner the evening prior prepared by he and his wife. A really wonderful couple days in Munich. I'm so, so thankful.

These gorgeous handmade ornaments were given me by a generous, grand and artistic friend! Though there are 4 photos, two of them are a view of the same ornament. These three glorious creations are on the Christmas tree at Riversong, our Alabama home on the Elk River. The other three are on the Christmas tree at Lagniappe, our home in New Orleans! I couldn't not bear to leave all in New Orleans, and I expect the other three will be coming back here to reside on the big tree for the rest of the holidays! But OH! How we are enjoying them on each tree! Such sparkle to catch the eye, and remind us of those we love!

Ali was our generous cook during our 8-day trip to the Sahara.
He created beautiful dishes with very little, using whatever resources were available, given the lack of refrigeration and therefore food preservation. Meals are always welcome, helping to build camaraderie among people who don't know each other but have to spend a week together.

we experience life...with all the feelings of happiness, sadness, hurts, fears, and angers...but what is important...is that the light of truth always shines in our Heart...that beyond feelings...is that we are a people of love, respect, kindness, generosity, forbearance, forgiveness, and peace...amongst many virtues that we all have...
These generous clouds left appreciable amounts of rain over Madrid, on a typically spring day. After the rains the sun came out, leaving a sunny and bright afternoon, though the rainfall seems to be returning during the late evening and night.
These beneficial precipitations left up to 50 liters per square meter in the Sierra de Madrid and around half in the city.
Much encouragement to all, thank you very much for being at home, for complying with the confinement and respecting the rules. Together, we will defeat the virus.

The canyon is a Siren's song, luring one deeper and deeper into her sensuous curves, with temptations of something even more spectacular just ahead. The colors the camera can pick up are incredible and very little editing is needed. Mother Nature does all the heavy lifting here. Her generosity is humbling.

The Swedes generously let the Icelanders and Lichtensteiners use a little part of the building for their diplomatic missions. You would think the Lichtensteiners could afford to have their own embassy, with all the opaque foreign cash they're sitting on.
This year at BrickWorld I had the honor and privilege of meeting John from BrickCommand, he was generous enough as to give me a handful of fun accessories to play around with.

Located in the former "Shek Kip Mei Factory Estate" built in 1977, JCCAC's premises was once a hub for many small family-run factories. At the turn of the millennium, however, the factory estate was gradually vacated due to the decline of light industries in Hong Kong. Thanks to the generous support by the Hong Kong Government through the Home Affairs Bureau and through a renovation sponsorship from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the government-owned factory was subsequently converted into a multidisciplinary artist village and arts centre and reopened in 2008 as JCCAC... These are tiny Kermit Green Button Pom Flowers from a very special bouquet given to me by dear friends at the loss of my brother.
My brother, got me my first job. I was going to be starting my freshman year at UC Davis as a computer engineering major and he knew a supervisor at the company, Radio Shack. He persuaded his friend to hire me in the quality control department. This is something my husband and I still laugh about because of my incessant need and love for details.
Later, after I had switched colleges to the Santa Cruz Bay area, my brother found me another job. He hired me to work at the Video store he was managing. It was great working with him, and I appreciated his confidence in me. Unfortunately, it was a short stint there due to two incidents. I grew up pretty sheltered and when some ladies came in looking for Chippendale videos, I took them over to the Disney section and showed them those rascally chipmunks. They laughed and thought I was joking. I was not.
The other incident that sealed my fate and convinced me that it was a wise move getting out of computer engineering was the morning after I had worked the closing shift. My brother arrived at the store to find a completely crashed computer system. It cost him hours and hours of work re-entering data and I’m sure there was also some embarrassment with the owner of the store since it was his sister who was responsible. He never yelled at me or fired me.
Through those college years his home was always open to me and I will never forget his generosity. He had a smile that could light up any room and it will be greatly missed.
