I know I'm playing it "wrong" by playing it solo. But being the last person around is a major fantasy of mine, even if that doesn't usually include going through thousands of identical houses to steal from thousands of identical backpacks

The game Avalanche wants you to play is kind of bad, tbh. But playing it like it's a weird Monster Hunter spinoff is great. I recommend it as long as you do that. The bunkers and the missions and the looting are all kinda boring and repetitive. But the noisy, majestic monster robots, wandering without purpose because there's nobody left to kill? I kind of love them

this photo is rather hastily composed. That's because, in this game, photomode is real-time, locks you in one spot, and lets you take damage normally (everyone with a real-life tripod is going, yeah, and?). Those big robots are extraordinarily dangerous, and I chickened out. I'm sorry you can see a bit of control tower on the far right
Generation Zero are pushing for better night buses for Auckland.
At the moment regular route coverage becomes inconsistent and unreliable after the sun goes down, and there are only eleven Night Rider buses with confusing routes and numbers to service the entire city after midnight. The new network doesn’t address this problem either and that’s simply unacceptable.
What they want is consistency. No special routes or strange timetables. Just your regular bus on its regular route at regular times. The Northern Express bus runs from the city every 15 minutes until midnight on weekdays, and every half hour until 3am on weekends, and is enormously popular.

Macaila with her friends were in Hamilton CBD collecting signatures for a petition and raising awareness about New Zealand’s dependence on fossil fuels. They are part of a group called Generation Zero, www.generationzero.org.nz which I hadn’t come across before. I was impressed with their gentleness and their conviction. The rather grey drizzly day wasn’t going to dampen their enthusiasm.
After a chat about what they were up to and their organisation, I asked if they could help me with my project. I explained about the 100 Strangers Project and how I viewed it as a way to make the world a little more friendly, one stranger at a time. I was quite surprised at how encouraging they all were.
I wanted to include some of the banner in the portrait. Macaila and I were both quite nervous when it came to the photography, so I think this has ended up being more of a snap shot. She told me afterwards that her sister is into modelling but she sort of freezes when a camera is pointed at her. I need to learn to relax myself and my poor subject. But thank you so much Macaila and all the best with your campaign.
