I've got no animals, so I went to the petting zoo. The goats were not very cooperative. So I went to the birds. They were very cooperative. I even found it difficult to choose.
Ik heb geen huisdieren, dus ging ik naar de kinderboerderij. De geiten werkten niet erg mee. Dus ging ik naar de vogels. Zij werkten heel erg mee. Ik had het zelfs moeilijk te kiezen.
Der Stadtturm in Straubing wurde als Wach- und Feuerturm gebaut. Untypisch für einen Wachturm ist seine Lage mitten in der Stadt, unabhängig von der Stadtbefestigung. Er befindet sich in der Mitte des Stadtplatzes, eines gut 600 Meter langen Straßenmarktes, und teilt diesen in Ludwigsplatz und Theresienplatz.
Begründet ist seine Lage unter anderem darin, dass vom Turm aus die Donau überwacht werden musste, da von den vorbeifahrenden Schiffen Zölle erhoben wurden. Zum anderen diente er als Feuerturm und bot somit vom zentralen und höchsten Ort einen guten Überblick über die gesamte mittelalterliche Stadt. Die im Stadtturm befindliche Glocke, die auch schon im Mittelalter als Feuerglocke diente, wurde 1406 in Regensburg von Hanns Paier gegossen. Diese trägt auch eine Inschrift, sie lautet: „Ich künd euch die Zeit, die Gott uns Tag und Nacht geit“(gibt). Sie zählt zu den ältesten Glocken Deutschlands.

De Struikheide bloeit prachtig ! Naast de drie schaapskuddes zorgen de koeien ervoor, dat wij van deze 'paarse pracht' kunnen blijven genieten !
De Kraloër Heide is het ZO-deel van het Dwingelderveld. Vanaf Pesse leidt een weg - via de buurtschappen Eursinge en Kraloo - naar de nieuwe P-plaats, zodat nu ook dít deel van het gebied verkend kan worden !

A scene I captured on another walk along the "Oberer Höhenweg", a panorama walking trail through the Kleinwalsertal. 'Our' village - Riezlern - is on the left, in the distance.
ZAANDAM - De oude Fronik boerderij is niet meer in gebruik, maar de stallen worden nog gebruikt door dieren: Ezels, geiten, varkens, pony’s, pluimvee en konijnen zijn op deze locatie te bewonderen. Een van de gebouwen is ingericht als museum met vele gebruiksvoorwerpen uit voorbije tijden.
ZAANDAM - the old Fronik farm is no longer in use, but the stables are still used by animals: Donkeys, ponies, goats, pigs, poultry and rabbits are at this location. One of the buildings is a museum with many user objects from earlier times.

Following local initiatives in the 1970s, the predecessor of this flour mill was rebuilt in Akersloot in 1981. It was built after an old flour mill from the village that was largely demolished in 1925.
This mill was hit by a sky-rocket in the New Year's Night from 2000 to 2001 and burned down completely. The octagon first stopped, but in the end was too bad to keep. As a result, the mill has been completely rebuilt and has been in operation since the beginning of 2004.

A final capture of those two funny goats in the Derratal. Chased up on the roof and away from the flower baskets, after they had tried to eat the flowers. See my previous photos of the naughty couple!
So why does the owner of the 'tearoom' on the Mittlere Spitalalpe forbid his goats to climb on the tables? First of all, because it isn't very hygienic for guests (!) and secondly, because they eat the flowers in his flower pots!! (to be continued)
When the goats started to eat his flowers, the landlord of the Mittlere Spitalalpe chased them away again, and in a couple of jumps they were on the roof of house, playfully fighting each other! It must have made a lot of noise in the house ...
I like this capture because it shows you just how low the building is and how the roof just seems part of the alpine meadow! (see my previous photos for some background - literally and figuratively)
St Martin's Church is situated opposite the house in my previous photo. It was built in 1636, at a time when the people living in Baad, the Walser, were suffering from the plague as well as being attacked by Frenchmen and Swedes.
Good to know that these days the place is idyllic!
We had walked further than we had intended at the start, which was above Hirschegg. After taking the chair lift to Heuberg, we followed the high-altitude trail past Mittelberg, over the Stutzalpe where we started the descent to Baad, the last village in the Kleinwalsertal. It was a beautiful and relatively easy walk. Best of all: in Baad we could take the bus back to Riezlern. HFF!
In het begin van de zestiger jaren was de landgeit op enkele exemplaren na verdwenen. Enkele dieren, wat al te fanatieke ‘leiders’ uit een schaapskudde in het Gooi, werden geschonken aan de dierentuin Blijdorp te Rotterdam.
De toenmalige directeur van deze dierentuin dr. A.C. van Bemmel ging fokken met deze en enkele andere landgeiten, die nog voldoende het type hadden.
Toen deze landgeitengroep de dierentuinomvang ontgroeide ging een koppeltje van 4 geiten en 4 bokken in 1971 naar het Rijksinstituut voor Natuurbeheer in Leersum.
Deze koppel groeide in omvang en er kon worden geselecteerd op het oorspronkelijke type, zoals dat werd afgeleid van oude afbeeldingen op schilderijen. De laatste jaren gaat het goed met het aantal dieren. In 2000 stonden 1473 dieren in het stamboek ingeschreven. Daarmee is de geit opgeklauterd uit een kritieke situatie naar de status van een kwetsbaar ras.
Eén kudde houdt al ruim twintig jaar de Mariapeel vrij van ongewenste boomopslag.
