I took this photo with an old friend I re-aquired tonight, the Canon EF 300mm f/4L IS. I bartered my GF1 m43 system for the lens, after only about a month of use. The m43 camera was great fun to use the first few days but then later the "pure digital" feeling of using a mirrorless camera got to me, I felt no joy snapping photos with it in the end, so there is no regret. Let me remind you that I am equally a gearslut and a photographer 8-)

I just realized it's more than a month now between photo-uploads, but risking sounding like a broken record: work is killing me. I'm thinking my next new years resolution should say, less work, more photo.

After relying on speedlights for a long time, I finally decided that I 'needed' a small, battery powered, studio strobe. Early last year, I bought my first Quadra Hybrid. 6 months later, the second was delivered. And this week I got the third. Somewhere along this slippery path, I also got the HS trigger. Not only to do actual HS shots, but more so that I can use strobes with the EOS M3. Which has no 'exposure simulation off' option, leaving me with a black screen, when using strobes.

This little friend of mine hung out with me and my family at a summer cabin we had rented for a week. I think I have well over 500 photos of him, but this one was my favourite especially due to the little raindrop splash in the right side of the frame. Shot with a 25 year old 300/2.8L non-IS lens that I have for sale as I'm moving to Nikon (just for the fun of it, I'm a gearslut and gearsluts need to try everything).

NIKON DIGITAL LEARNING: I use Fireworks to add watermarks and it strips metadata with no option to not do this.. This was taken with a D700. If you need verification, I can send you copy.

I'm a gearslut. I'm a gearsnob, a gearwh*re and just generally a geargeek. I've added yet another Zeiss to the group, the Planar T* 1,4/85. I almost didn't go through with it - I thought it were too close to my 2/100 lens in focal length, I thought I might possibly be creating a redundancy. I was wrong! I haven't had much time with it (7 hrs at the time of this writing) but so far I feel as this is the first ever lens I've had that produces colours exactly how I see them, and it's character is wildly different from it's brother the 2/100 Makro-Planar. So far I'm nothing short than thrilled with it, and I look forward to my next time shooting with it.
