Roseate Spoonbill attempts a crossing under the rookery while being on the lookout for the big ole Gator that lurks there.

A mama gator hangs by her brood and will immediately come to their aid if she hears their distress call. Best not to mess with Mother Gator! Here’s a bucket-list image from the past of a little hatchling climbing aboard it’s mother’s head. (Alligator mississippiensis) (Sony a1, 200-600mm at 365mm, 1/200 second, f/10, ISO 1600)

He was so close that it was possible to pat him - if I were not afraid for my hand and life
A small geological feature on the way to the Colonnade Arch (5-Hole-Arch) east of the Green River. In the background on the left are the La Sal Mountains.
Elsewhere, it is also called Crocodile Rock.

This is from a set of RAW files I made in 2013 but never posted or even processed. I was looking for an image to use in tomorrow's blog post and this scene works for what I'll write about, so I processed it for the first time this morning.

Up close and personal, these gators were along the side of the dirt road. I go out of the car to capture these amazing creatures.
From a recent trip to the Everglades. I was sitting on a dock, when I noticed this gator swimming towards me. It stopped right at the edge of the dock, and just looked at me and stayed there for five minutes or so. I think it wanted a friend. (Or maybe it was hungry lol!)
A caimán is an alligatorid crocodilian belonging to the subfamily Caimaninae, one of two primary lineages within Alligatoridae, the other being alligators. Caimans inhabit Central and South America. They are small sized crocodilians, with an average maximum weight of 6 to 40 kg (13 to 88 lb), depending on species......(Wikipedia)

Taken a few weeks ago during a fishing trip to the Everglades (previously posted a different shot from the same day). The sort of high-key effect is due to the harsh light conditions.
"There's a gator in the bushes, Lord, he calling my name."
Last of the NYS&W stack trains, HAN-2 rolls toward Vernon, NJ after an early spring snowfall covered the rails. A three piece variety of lease units power the days train.
Look closely at this juvenile gator's back. It is a dragonfly taking a ride. Regrettably, my 200mm was the best I could do. I was on Lake Cooper sitting on the dock of a friend when approximately 40 yards away the gator appeared. He stayed for awhile then went into the Cypress wetlands on the north side of the lake.

A medium size gator -about 5-6ft long .
Funny how God / universe speaks to us. I had just spoken about not having many gator photos considering where I live. Then a few feet down the trail we came across two young gators measuring no more that 12 inches long. This one was mostly submerged just enjoying the sunshine.
FYI: baby alligators are called hatchling and or grunt.
Sometimes the gators swim into some orange water. Who can resist? (Alligator mississippiensis) (Sony a1, 200-600 lens @600mm, f/6.3, 1/400 second, ISO 1600)
