Arktikum Science Museum in Rovaniemi, Finland.
I love the architecture, the glass is the ceiling, but I just present it in this angle, which is really dynamic.
The 172 metres long's glass main corridor in Arktikum is really remarkable. It is dissected by the 30-metre wide highway to Kittilä, covered with around one thousand panes of toughened glass, each two square metres in size.
The tube serves as the “Gateway to the North”, as the entrance foyer is at the southern end and the other end faces north.
Flooding is a major concern for communities along the coast of James Bay. This photo was taken in the early 1980's and doesn't really show the huge chunks of ice that sound loud when they break apart and sometimes jam up as they move along the river to the Bay.

When Platform Zero was built at the start of the huge refurbishment at Kings Cross, Diesel trains were banned from using it as the roof is very low at the Terminus end. Now the refurbishment is complete, maybe that rule has now been relaxed? - Looks like it as 43310 stands reflected in the rain at Platform Zero.

Used GIMP to bring out the purple in the sky and enhance the brightness of the stars a little bit.
Hope you like it! One of these days there should be some good northern lights...

When Clare's City Bakery was going to close after more than 100 years in business, the city's nine police officers bought the bakery. Rebranded as Cops & Doughnuts, it has enjoyed remarkable success and attracted a world wide following (www.copsdoughnuts.com).

A typical day on the Great Lakes Central (former Tuscola and Saginaw Bay) sees three trains. One departing from Cadillac to Clare, and two leaving from the GLC shops in Owosso with one meeting the Cadillac train at Clare and the other interchanging with the Ann Arbor RR at Osmer, MI. Here the train crews from Owosso and Cadillac switch trains at Clare, allowing each crew to return to their home base for the day.
Power Car 43296 at the rear. The power car is in East Coast Trains grey livery whilst the coaching stock is in older but modified National Express livery to show East Coast branding. The light shining through from the new glass overall roof makes photography easier at KGX now. The power of the Inter City 125 High Speed Train design is evident and a testament to the 35 year plus design of these fine, nice riding trains.

The historic Doherty Hotel in Clare opened in 1924. In its early years during the prohibition era, it was infamous as a center for organized crime activity. It was recently announced that the property would undergo a multimillion dollar renovation including restoring the exterior to more closely resemble its original appearance.
Along with completing a restoration of its early 20th century railroad station, Clare has acquired a couple of old cabooses that are on display outside the station. The Great Northern Railway actually ran between Minnesota and Washington state (and mountain goats are not native to Michigan).
