In Beijing, the garbage truck roaming through the city while residents come out to dump their garbage, as witnessed by a BBC reporter in Taiwan, is commonplace in China, but more pleasant and also very common is the garbage or recycling man cycling down the street singing to let the residents know that he is coming to receive items–as specified in his song.

Larry works in the travel industry, and sometimes has access to fantastic rates at nice places. On our last visit to the mountains, we were able to stay at the Fairmont Banff Springs ("The Springs" for many Calgarians). With such a rate, we always expect to be given the smallest room with a view of the garbage cans, and are thrilled when it isn't that. This time, Larry had a big grin on his face when he came to show me the room we got. "We have to take two elevators to get there," he said. We didn't know the hotel had different sets of elevators! So the room was indeed way up in the rafters, and the views were fascinating. We had to take the main elevators to the top, then find another elevator almost hidden away down the hall, which took us two more floors higher into the roof. The best and most interesting view was from the tiny bathroom window - we, or at the least the camera, could see the gorgeous Rockies, the roofs of other parts of the building, and our beautiful Canada Flag wafting in the wind.

I just don't understand why people want to trash up a place. This dirty diaper was at the Green River take out.

You may or may not know that one of my biggest peeves is when people leave their trash by their parking spot before driving away...
Why do I hate even worse? I hate hate HATE when people simply discard their used diapers like this. Used. Diapers. I mean, this is in the parking lot at The Home Depot. You can't tell me that there wasn't a trash can nearby.
Damned lazyasses.
