in the quiet room, where the day’s light seeps gently through drawn curtains, the world stands still, save for the abandoned game controller resting on the bed. it's as if the room itself breathes a moment of calm between the rush of gaming, a tranquil intermission. this image captures the essence of a pause, a brief lull before the next adventure begins, where time slows, and reflections form in the simplest of scenes.
Yay -- it's finally done... my dream desk! :)
Oh, and yes; the keyboard tray slides in and out of the middle. This shot isn't quite fully deployed -- it'll go about 6" further out. In the recessed position it sits about 2" back from the front plane of the desk.
I'd considered putting some sort of linear bearing to assist the keyboard tray sliding action, but I tried simply routing a channel on either side that fits into the extrusion channel. This amount of play and friction turned out to be just perfect, so it's all done.
We love our Gengar Halloween collectible 🎃💜
Does anyone else feature collectibles around Spooky SZN like we do?

You can see here how much space there is between the desk and the bottom of the monitor setup.
Also, I've added aluminum channeled slatwall to either side of the desk for future expansion -- I can just add brackets and shelves to the sides if I ever want or need to. For now, they just look really cool.
My little but high-octane office in my loft. Had a 17-35mm f2.8 Nikon lens on loan so I snapped a couple of pictures before I had to return it.
The desk is an 80/20 project that I recently completed this spring. This is a big desk made from aluminum extrusions and furniture grade maple plywood. Each pedestal of the desk is a full 19" rackmount for Middle Atlantic shelves, drawers and accessories, in addition to an AC power Center and rackmount server case. The left pedestal houses an NHT 12-inch powered sub (the controller is in the top right drawer, and there are two Acurus home theater amplifiers for the surround system. One of the design constraints of the desk was that it had to accommodate three 24" monitors and the NHT 1.5's that flanked them. This amount of real estate made for a very large keyboard tray with tons of mouse pad room, which was a huge upgrade from my old setup. All in all I think that it turned out pretty well -- mid-project I thought that it was going to be really heinous looking (esp because I was going to use a very dark grey/black flecked Corian for the desk surfaces, like a kitchen countertop), but since I decided to use the lighter wood, it turned out much better looking than I anticipated.
I'm currently in the process of putting together a new desktop PC rig to run this. I'm trying to figure out if I want to try to squeeze a water cooling kit into the horizontal 4U server rack, or just grab one of the HP Blackbird cases. One of the new ATi cards that will run a triple head setup like this is a MUST however.

The triplehead monitor setup was built first, since it didn't have to be part of the desk itself.
It just bolts into the wall studs with big lag bolts -- very sturdy!
Here I'm just testing out various inputs. The Dell 2408 has a metric fuckton of them.
BTW, if you are curious: desktop resolution is 5760 X 1200

Here's the main equipment stack being mounted -- the bottom amp is an Acurus 200 X 3 for the front speakers, and the one above it is an Acurus 150 x 2 for the rears. The rackmount server case is above that, topped by a Middle Atlantic power distribution center and surge protector.
This is the NHT subwoofer, a full-on 12" powered beast that is way more than anyone would need for a near-field loudspeaker setup -- which is just the way I like things.
It sits behind an acoustically transparent perforated shroud, so it's quite a surprise when it comes on.
