The cathedral in the centre of Galway.

It's hard to take an original photo of this string of houses, situated where the Corrib River meets Galway Bay; I bet that a Google image search would return hundreds of images. That said, they're just so photogenic -- and the lifting fog gave the area a soft light that I hadn't seen them in before. So... I surrendered, and made this....

Some wander through life; others march towards destiny. This man, clear eyed, marches with his instrument over one shoulder and amplifier over the other, while the others around him stroll aimlessly. The 'compass rose' tattoo on our lad's right hand speaks volumes. Seen on the streets of Galway Ireland.

Low tide at Mutton Island Galway

A wide shot of a stranger that looks a bit cinematic. Look out for strangers in the shadows... If you are only interested in my street photos, I've now created an Instagram account where I'll only post street stuff. Here: www.instagram.com/fergal_flatlight/

A re-edited colour version of one of my oldest Flickr photos, looking out over central Galway Ireland from a downtown parking garage.

Entrance to a walk-up sushi bar in central Galway.

Typical colours from the Irish housing palette . . . .

Three generations of structures. Each new generation dwarfs the previous; Each becomes less personal, less 'human scale' than those from the past.

Taken in Galway. Brings to mind the classic Steve Earle composition "Lost my heart to a Galway Girl", This version should make you smile - www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNs0vKDvs0g.

I just loved shooting this portrait of a woman working in one of the craft and food stalls in Galway's outdoor market. Note the crazy-high ISO; I'd forgotten to reset the camera after having attempted (and failed at) some astrophotography the night before.

Full of colour and music, Galway city is a fun place to spend a day… these were our favourite musicians playing the Chapmanstick, new to us! Invented in the 1970’s, an electric stringed instrument that sounds amazing.
