This native plant is also called the Wattle. 1000 of 1350 species found in Australia. Commonly known as the wattles or acacias, it's a large genus of shrubs and trees in the subfamily Mimosoideae of the pea family Fabaceae. Initially, it comprised a group of plant species native to Africa and Australia. They are present in all terrestrial habitats, including alpine settings, rainforests, woodlands, grasslands, coastal dunes and deserts. Aboriginal Australians have traditionally harvested the seeds of some species, to be ground into flour and eaten as a paste or baked into a cake. The seeds contain as much as 25% more protein than common cereals, and they store well for long periods due to the hard seed coats. In addition to utilizing the edible seed and gum, the people employed the timber for implements, weapons, fuel and musical instruments. 3606

This little bee was really getting a collection together.

I looked like a total NUTTER chasing it around the grass- which was a public sports field!!

While walking down a street in Berlin, I was suddenly confronted with this extraordinary scene. Obviously some talent was required!

When I was in Pella, Iowa earlier this week, I took 200+ photos of different tulips. Some shots were close-up, but others like these, were taken at a wider angle. If you see something you like, zoom-in and view large. Enjoy.

Roasted veggies with dinner to start the weekend.

I went to one of the hills where I regularly go for a summer evening stroll - a good stiff climb - but I missed my turn for parking my car and what a stroke of luck that was. I came across a riot of poppies, with willowherb and sunflowers in despatches, in a field that I presume was lying fallow. What a gift this was!

Taken while looking for Sequins - a challenge in the Looking Close on Friday theme this week. I have no sequins in my wardrobe but I found loads of sequin encrusted clothes in Marks and Spencer. They look extremely uncomfortable to me and I wonder how many will be left for the January sales?

These were all gold and the red colour is the reflection of my phone cover!

Needless to say I didn’t buy!

In the royal palace garden, Balchik, Bulgaria

Marie of Romania, the wife of Ferdinand I of Romania, visited Balchik in 1921 and liked the location for building a summer residence. The official name of the palace was the Quiet Nest Palace. It was constructed between 1926 and 1937, during the Romanian control of the region.

In 1940, after the reincorporation of Southern Dobruja in Bulgaria, the palace park became the Balchik Botanical Garden. It has an area of 65,000 square meters (700,000 sq ft) and accommodates 2,000 plant species belonging to 85 families and 200 genera.

How many??

For me one of the great joys of travelling in tropical countries is the variety and abundance of fruit. This was taken in Kandy, Sri Lanka.

I have always granted myself the freedom to exercise artistic license and pursue whatever brings me joy. Currently, shots from my cellphone and digital AI artwork fulfill that purpose, at least for the time being.

If in doubt which is my work and which is Generative AI, just look for the watermark on my photography.
