I think I might have named this sailboat Gail. It isn’t that I am superstitious or anything, but why tempt fate. It seems like every available space in this marina is filled with boats being repaired or stored for the winter. At least Gale should be safe on land unless another boat falls on her.

Well today I thought I'd intercept my uploads from my recent trip to the Faroe Islands by instead sharing an image from this morning at Ullswater in the Lake District.
With the forecast for a possibility of mist I thought I'd head down to the Lakes, and sure enough as I was driving down the motorway I hit a blanket of fog near Penrith. I decided to venture along a section of Ullswater that I'd never explored before, from Pooley Bridge along the eastern shore.
It was a wonderfully serene morning, with hardly a breath of wind. There are a few photogenic trees along this path which forms part of the circular Ullswater Way trail. There were also some boats moored along the lake which looked lovely emerging from the mist.

We were eating dinner at the Gunflint Tavern and talking to some people from ND...I kept looking at this scene, finally leaped out of my chair, mumbled an apology, hoisted the camera bag and left....
I couldn't stand without leaning against a tree and then against Richard when he came out....the wind was clocked about 40-45mph.
I found out later that a gale-like wind was in the Twin Cities at the same time, a five hour drive south.
(This was about three weeks before Hurricane Sandy.)
Glad to be on flickr again.....(I did have a wonderful time with my friend....:)
Thank you so much for stopping by, flickr friends....I missed you....♥
Enjoy the weekend......Pat
The wildest of afternoons on Widemouth bay Cornwall, with the foam flying up the wet sand, driven by amazing winds, even the tripod struggled. Love won't be leaving is a great track by Anna Calvi, and whatever the weather, there's always something to take on the beach, in fact the wilder the better. I love it.
I don't get as excited about these gales with all the erosion that we've had over the past couple years, but the power of the Great Lakes is incredible to see.
Thank you most kindly for stopping by to view my work.
If you find you have a few words to say about what I have done they will be much appreciated.
My best regards to you.... Martin

I'll bet there are several generations now who have no idea what fountain service is.
