My caribbean magical street in the neighbourhood of my childhood. I had 14 years old when I took this one. I was already living in Madrid.

A delivery truck was leaking oil on the wet pavement when it stopped at a company I used to work at. Left a few drops here and there, so I got out my camera and started shooting. I don't condone spilling oil just to get a shot, but if it's there, I'm gonna shoot it.

San José, California.

My proudest shot in Astrophotography :) Taken at the bottom of the garden of our holiday cabin across the reservoir in Pembrokeshire, Wales.

Beautiful dark skies in Wales allowed me to capture more detail in the galactic core than I ever have before.

Used an MSM star tracker and my Tamron 28-75 lens at 35mm

I couldn’t help noticing the strange patterns that developed in the soapy solution when cleaning this frying pan! The pan had been used to fry mushrooms and some detergent and hot water added before washing thoroughly later. When we came back to complete the washing up, these marvellous patterns had formed, not bubbles at all but a sort of milky material. Never seen them before but couldn’t help capturing them for posterity as they were so strange.

A galactic superwind, or just galactic wind, is a high velocity stellar wind emanating from either newly formed massive stars, spiral density waves, or as the result of the effects of supermassive black holes. They are normally observed in starburst galaxies.

The galactic core (milky way) from my front porch

This was shot just last month in Tongariro National park from outside Mangatepopo Hut. It was freezing cold and very windy so I'm glad the photo turned out well. First real attempt and photographing the milkyway! The mountain in the background is Ngaurohoe.

The Milky Way rises over Mt. Hood on a clear night. The mountain was shot at blue hour, and the Milky Way about 90 minutes later when it was fully dark, from the same position.

While out in the dark at Trinity (AKA Clair Engle) Lake in Trinity County, California, USA, I was struck by the way this stump leaned in a direction consistent with the galactic core of our wonderful little galaxy. I thought it just begged from some light painting under the stars so I grabbed my trusty flashlight and did just that.

Trinity Lake is a large reservoir that was flooded after the completion of the Trinity Dam in 1961. The area flooded was heavily wooded and most was logged before flooding the lake, leaving behind myriad submerged stumps. These stumps make great habitat for smallmouth bass when under water and great textures for night photography when the lake level drops. I liken them to giant wooden spiders as much of the earth under the roots erodes away with the fluctuating lake levels.

The Milky Way

by Anonymous

Evening has come; and across the skies—

Out through the darkness that, quivering, dies—

Beautiful, broad, and white,

Fashioned of many a silver ray

Stolen out of the ruins of Day,

Grows the pale bridge of the Milky Way,

Built by the architect Night.

New rebirth of UNITY musical band after 4 years as ART project! I created UNITY as rock band in 2019 in St.Levs college RP. But we never played any single gig, the RP was soon closed. Then I recreated UNITY as a modeling agency that brought together many creative people who loved Art and Fashion. Now I can celebrate the new birth of UNITY as a musical group, but already as an Art project, where we will create different styles, make mixes, break stereotypes, create our vision as a mix of Music and Fashion.

We are Different.

We are One.

We are Unity.

Even at 10:30pm Ghost Ranch is a busy place. There are a lot of cars coming and going to and from the living quarters as well as in and out of the ranch itself. Cars? Where would they be driving? Well, the low camera angle hides the driveway right behind the carriage, which tees into the main access to the ranch not far from where we had set up

The harsh light from their headlights shines on the old wagon from all angles. I was careful not to take shots of that, but when I assembled the image, I realized that the way I light-painted the scene simulated the way the headlights had illuminated it.

It was a glorious night and Greg and I sat under the stars waiting for the galactic core to show up between the two trees. For the earlier part of the evening that space was dominated by the constellation of Scorpio.

Initially I had envisioned a shot from a little further out, showing both trees with the galaxy and carriage in between. However, that was not possible because the ranch had put on display a small, equally antique seed spreader right in front of the vehicle. Any shot showing both trees would have had the seed spreader in it, complicating the composition, making for competing subjects. So we took all our strength and pulled it aside a bit so we could put our cameras in front of it. As with a lot of things in life, it was a compromise.

The Milky Way as seen from Mt Sunday, Rangitata River, Lake Clearwater. Mt Sunday is actually just a mound. It was made famous as Edoras in the movie Lord of the Rings.

I have planned this trip for quite some time. Last Saturday was the day (night actually) that it all came together in freezing cold conditions but a beautifully clear night. I shot the foreground from about midnight, followed by the milky way itself. There could be a bit of aurora glow in the south (left) and some airglow, At the left the Small Magellanic Cloud and the Large Magellanic Cloud can be observed. In the center a dark finger connects our Galactic Kiwi with Rho Ophiuchi. The Carina Nebula can easily be seen just above the southern horizon.

Foreground: 10-image pano, 35 mm prime, 180 secs, f/9, ISO 8000.

Milky Way: 36-image pano, 35 mm prime, 30 sec tracked, f/2.0, ISO 1000.

Pre-processed in DxO PhotoLab, Stitched, blended and final processing in Affinity Photo.

in the front of the photo there is a strong light pollution, for me it was a new experience because most of my star trails done in dark areas away from light pollution.

So to attack the light pollution I went on short exposures of 4 sec with 4 sec interval between the photos

I'm officially back into Star Wars. I'm blowing the dust off of my droids and reassembling the Republic. I also got this new fig from CAC :)

White Pocket, Vermillion Cliffs National Monument, Arizona. Foreground shot in blue hour. Sky shot with Canon R5 and RF 20 mm f/1.4L VCM, ISO 640, 2 minute tracked exposure, f/2. White Pocket offers innumerable and amazing foregrounds for astro-landscape photography, on top of the pristine night skies.

Today was a somewhat special day: I left the house at 00:30 to reach my destination by 03:00. My mission - capture the milky way in a single shot. While it is early in the year and the stray light was something a bit unexpected, I made the best out of it and used it as backlight for the scorpion. The morale of the story - walking the extra mile sometimes really pays off.
