Mercedes 709 / Reeve Burgess G915 UPP of Sovereign is seen here in St Peters Street, St Albans circa 1993, wearing an advert livery for Pilling Volvo of Hemel Hempstead. The vehicle had been new to County Bus and later carried 'St Albans Tourist Trail' livery and was used on this dedicated service which was publicised for a couple of summers in the mid-1990's. It later moved to Sovereign's operations at Huntingdon followed by a spell with Harrogate and District, ending it's days with Rossendale Transport in the mid-2000's, being exported in 2005.
One of Sovereign's ex-West Yorkshire Bristol VR's, possibly DWU 295T, which had replaced any remaining native Atlanteans a year or two previously can be seen behind.

It’s been a little over 4 years since I last took a desk shot. Mainly because nothing had changed in these past 4 years since my 2018 shot. Until recently...
After 12.75 years I finally decided to put my beloved 2009 Mac Pro out to pasture and replace it with a Mac Studio. It was a tough decision to make but I figured it was finally time. While for the most part it still worked just fine for my daily needs, the # of inconveniences were starting to pile up. Now I could finally use the latest and greatest MacOS instead of being stuck on 10.14.6 for the last 4 years. I know I could have probably found a way to shoehorn later versions onto it but I felt it wasn't worth the potential headaches, especially since it was my primary machine.
So I basically swapped a giant hunk of aluminum hanging from the bottom of my desk for a way smaller cube of aluminum that fits under my main display. Technology, pretty amazing.
I also got an external drive enclosure to house the 4 SATA drives that were in the Mac Pro. The only issue w/using external drives is that if the OS hasn't accessed them for some time, they go to sleep or something so it takes awhile for the drives to start up when I actually try to do something with them.
Also, now that I have a stable Bluetooth connection again I went back to using a wireless keyboard. At first I just pulled out my old Matias kb which you could see from my old 2016 shot and it still worked mostly fine. Although some of the switches were wearing down or something cause I discovered that a bunch of times it was double-typing when it shouldn't. So I looked around for a new replacement. Decided to pick up the Logitech G915 TKL since it was similar to the Logitech G Pro that I had been using since 2018. I quite like the G915. Solid metal base and I really like the tactile switches. Quieter than the older G Pro and I like the feel more as well. Also like the scroll wheel for volume control.
Display-wise, no changes. Still doing just fine w/the 4K 27" main display flanked by two ancient 24" 1080p displays in portrait mode.
I also had to replace the back of my old Herman Miller Mirra chair. One day it just kinda cracked in half down the middle. After poking around online looking for a replacement chair, I discovered that you can actually just buy replacement parts for the chair at a pretty decent price. So that's what I wound up doing.
Oh and I guess the number of figurines that used to hang about on the desk have diminished considerably. I moved the majority of them to an Ikea Detolf display case that you can sorta see behind and to one side of the desk.
And that's pretty much it. For now I still have the Mac Pro running headless nearby just in case but it's already been a couple of weeks and I haven't really had to access it for anything. Also, my home office has gotten noticeably cooler so that's another plus.

During several summer seasons in the early 90's St Albans Council attempted to introduce a tourist bus that operated to attractions around the city. One of Sovereign's Mercedes 709's was repainted in this dedicated livery, and G915 UPP is seen here at St Albans City Station. The Tourist Trail bus was not a success and was soon dropped.

MACEDON. Amphipolis (355/4 B.C.), Silver Tetradrachm, 14.40g,. Head of Apollo facing, slightly inclined to right, wearing a laurel-wreath. Rev. AM-ΦIΠ-OΛI-TΩN on a broad frame of a raised linear square enclosing a race-torch, a grape cluster on inner left, a club in inner right field, all within a broad shallow incuse square (Lorber, type P, 50 (O28/R41) (this coin); K. Regling, ‘Phygela, Klazomenai, Amphipolis’, ZfN XXXIII, 1922, p. 57, 15 (this obverse die); SNG Lockett 1300 (this obverse die)). Toned, very fine, exceedingly rare, one of four recorded examples from this obverse die and the only example from this reverse die known to Lor ber. This coin published in ‘Amphipolis. The Civic Coinage in Silver and Gold’, C. Lorber (1990), p. 167, 50, illustrated on pl. XXV. Ex Numismatik Lanz, Auction 46, Munich, 28 November 1988, lot 183 The facing head on this late tetradrachm of Amphipolis is again a little feminine in appearance, but this time with thicker hair, heavier features and a broader nose. This renders the head with a rather more serious, perhaps almost melancholic, expression than the two previous coins.

This is a gorgeous new osteospermum I bought yesterday for £1.99 (May 2013)
It probably won't be hardy so i shall bring it indoors for the winter. There are fully hardy osteospermum's (in UK climes) like this one . the hardy osteospermums take very easily from cuttings so i'll see if this one does too.

Second Geodetic Levelling, Scotland (1936-52).
Flush bracket G916 was used during the second geodetic levelling of Scotland, and was levelled with a height of 431.403 feet above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Banchory to Rhynie levelling line. Geodetic line G.205, levelled during 1944. The surveyor's description was NE face of Learney Hotel, 3' S of NW centre angle, Tophins.
This marker was last verified in 1974. The OS Online Archive gives the description "Learney Arms Hotel, NE face, N angle".
SITE VISIT
Hotel. Not visible from public road but access good. The bracket is painted white to match the building but is otherwise in good condition.
