One of the second batch of Northern Counties bodied Leyland Olympians bought by M&D, 5903 (G903 SKP) was seen approaching Borstal on the scenic Medway Valley route from Maidstone to Chatham.
Previously spotted by my Edinburgh contacts Andy and Neil, this is quite an interesting one. Date of first UK registration is August 1993, and it's last MOT expired in June 2007. Strangely it appears to have been supplied by Bill Snethkamp of Lansing, Michigan, although the car doesn't look to be US-spec?

Seen here in Welwyn Garden City Bus Station circa 1994 is Mercedes / Reeve Burgess G903 UPP of Sovereign. These little vehicles were part of a batch G901-919 UPP new to Sovereign in the Autumn of 1989, all being sold off in the late 1990's. The vehicle later operated for First Stop Travel of Renfrew.

Just where Maidstone & District's Northern Counties bodied Leyland Olympian 5903 (G903 SKP) was going was a mystery as it stormed up the road through the centre of Maidstone on August 26th 1993. The blind is showing 'Daybreak Tour' so maybe a trip to the coast or the Hop Farm at Beltring?

Myself and Mark like spending at least one afternoon in Bridgwater (Somerset) per year, as it always seems to bring a great variety of vehicles, and weather (LOL!).
This wonderful all Leyland Olympian started life in Bristol and Bath working on the X39 between the two cities for Badgerline. She is pictured here whilst working for First S&A, and operating out of Bridgwater Depot.
Judging by the Destination number up on the blind, I would say that this Lymp is operating a Agricultural College route from Bridgwater to Burnham on Sea. I do like buses in AOA livery, but this is normally a bone of contention between enthuiasts.

Stopped working correctly after about 13 months much to my dissapointment - now replaced with a new microswitch - no easy task :-(

THRACE. Dikaia (c.490 B.C.), Silver Double Stater, 19.30g. Head of Herakles facing to right, wearing a lion’s skin headdress. Rev. Rough quadripartite incuse square (J.M.F. May, ‘The Coinage of Dikaia-by-Abdera’, NC 1965, 14-16 var.; Asyut 145-6; Babelon, Traité I, 1768, pl. LVI, 10). Lightly toned, very fine to good very fine, outstanding archaic style, one of the finest known specimens, extremely rare. Ex Bank Leu AG, Auction 45, Zurich, 26 May 1988, lot 84 This coin displays a head of Herakles of outstanding archaic style, clearly created by an artist of considerable confidence and talent. The features of Herakles and the slant of the face suggest a slight downwards glance, giving the whole composition both impact and a feeling of serenity. J.M.F. May (NC 1965, p. 14-15) discusses the similarity of the head of Herakles on this issue with that of the ‘Tête Rampin’ in the Louvre. It is fascinating to consider that the engraver of the obverse die for this coin might have seen and gained inspiration from the Rampin Horseman. Influence may also have come from early Attic red-figure work from the factory of Andokides. This issue is arguably one of the most outstanding and beautiful of all archaic dies.
