The wind was still high yesterday, and even though it was a smaller tide, immense waves pounded the cliffs. It was a magnificent sight, full of fire and fury. Fyre is by sea of bees

I know I haven't taken a single picture in a very very long time. Life handed me a case of the busies and my job pretty much took over, but that was only a little bit of it.
Ok, so now the elephant in the room that made me take a break.
PBR
Do I like it?
Sometimes.
I do like the additional tools given to us. I am certain I can find use for the reflections and additional ways to make light interact with surfaces and probably will have fun with that. Thumbs up to those things. 👍
Now the big part of what made me put things down for a bit, this next bit might be a little critical but PBR broke a lot of what I used to make pictures look nice.
• It made the alpha glitching in things I do 1000x worse.
• It made it so I can't use godrays (aka Volumetric Light Scattering) anymore using the sun as a source. The light you see when it shines between tree branches on a hazy day or the beam you can see when shining a flashlight into fog, pollen, or smoke.
• It made it so I can't use some tools that were extremely useful in Black Dragon such as custom adjustable tone-mapping that I would prefer over the reflective gimmicks PBR allows us. You had absolute control over what the light looked like in an image, live at the tips of your fingers, all that gone.
• At the time of me writing this it seems to have tanked graphical performance for a number of people I know.
Somehow it makes the virtual air feel hollow like there is almost no air there, it has no depth for light itself to go through. It also seems to be better for darker images than ones that look like they were taken in daylight, which I imagine may play a role in the shift I have seen since it came out with pixel photographers on SL overall taking very dark images (which is ok if that is what the photographers want and intend to do) which very distinctly started when PBR was released. Taking daytime images that are colorful yet not a regression in quality seem to be more difficult in my experience.
Of the things I mentioned the things I really want back that PBR broke are the tone-mapping and godrays, but there are a good number of other things that I would have loved to have had in the official viewer that some third party viewers had if they were looking to visually improve Second Life that I would have wanted to see.
I do get the appeal of PBR, and I do like some things about it, but it felt like a trade off, and in some ways an uneven one that works against our benefit.
This was just a quick shot with a lazy attempt at making a quick pose so I could play with what I had been poking at with PBR lighting and sky settings since it came out. Also I've been slowly working on making new sky settings here and there. Sorry for the bit of a rant there, suppose I got a bit wordy.
Maybe in time I will figure out some nice ways to use this PBR thing well enough that I change my mind. Perhaps some of you out there know ways around some of the things I talked about when taking raw shots. Drop me a comment if you have any ideas, suggestions, or just want to tell me your thoughts on this.
Wishing you all smiles and happiness in your day!

Here is my first creation using my new leg technique. I used Belville feet for the feet (obviously), and black cheese for the battle skirt. Pyre Fyre commented on my USMC Hardsuit a while back and said that the legs should be back farther, so I took his advice and here it is! showed me another leg technique which I used in my USMC Super Soldier, but I was not satisfied with the finished product, (even though it got me 300 more views in 2 days!), so I felt compelled to create my own technique! And thanks to Tito for the arm technique. So this is the product of constructive criticism, inspiration, and loads of creativity!
Thanks all for helping me along the way!

As a celebration of my 50,000th view, I bring you my second MOC in the Space Castle theme!
This dude is "inspyred" by Pyre Fyre, and his astoundingly cool Hardsuits.
I'm excited about this build because it's a Hardsuit, but retains (in my opinion) the feel of the Castle theme. This is the second in a (hopefully) long line of Space Castle MOCs.
Yay. :)
