This one coincides with the Grudge photo we made a couple months back. The hair she has is just good for this type of vibe 😂 but this is the final piece for this weeks theme! I wonder what’s next

- Ill try uploading more videos probably 🌚

I listened to the Avengers theme and some Call of Duty music to get into the groove and created this visual. Little over 5 hours long to get the final piece 🔥 Great job Tyra for being able to shoot a wide variety of art with that one dress 😆

We are really proud of this one!

There was a lot of creative troubleshooting to do for this photo but it was fun overall

- Finally finished this visual after a year of holding it off 😅 One of the very first shots I took off on my EOS R. Recently watched endgame so that was the inspiration for making the photo!

This next theme is my favorite. Everything I put into these visuals have a lot of personal feelings put into them along with a new technique I’ve learned. Bubbala, where are you?

Idea no. 463: Faith (2023)

What do you have faith in? Is it a higher power? Humans? Yourself? The universe?

I think faith is such an introspective idea, and I wanted to showcase a scene of what a person looks like when reflecting upon their own faith. How you answered the prior question will likely alter your perspective of this photograph.

Are the candles burning out? Or are they burning brighter than ever before?

Are the hands emerging attempts to hold onto that faith? Or do the hands represent forces in your life who seek to extinguish your flames?

What do you see?

Originally I wanted this photo to be a person holding onto the last dying light of a melted candle, but the fun part of editing photos is coming up with changes mid-edit to serve purpose to a new meaning. My personal journey with faith has changed throughout the years, but I can say with confidence that regardless of what a person believes in (religion or not), faith is a driving force that pushes us to do better in life.

How often do you read? Do you use reading as an escape mechanism? Or as a tool to reinforce your beliefs and experiences?

📜

I wish that I made attempts to read more. As someone who revels in creative imagery, I know I’m missing out on a plethora of resources and inspiration. I honestly struggle to pick up any book, and if I do start one, it’s usually in the teen/sci-fi category lol. Some of my favorites have been Percy Jackson and I am Number Four (if that is indicative of my book range haha). I think I enjoy fiction books versus nonfiction because of the ability to escape. I’m able to forget about my own problems, and experience another life within hours.

📜

This photo was apart of my AP Class’ assignment to use the #creativesparkscards by @joelrobinson and create a new piece of artwork with an item, location, and emotion. My three were #paper, #bookshelf, and #thoughtful. It was a pleasure to be thrown out of my comfort zone, and explore options I normally wouldn’t have. While my friend was visiting, we called up the nearest bookstore (thank you @thedancing_elephant) and did a quick photoshoot!

📜

I originally wanted her to look like a witch creating creatures out of paper, but that didn’t tie into the theme of being thoughtful. So I continued with the idea of being so lost in words of a story that the actual pages manifest into a different form (fun fact: the book is called the Golden Bird, hence why I did origami birds).

📜

It’s been an exciting time in my creative life; I’m taking a course offered by @brookeshaden, I was approached by the @capecoralartcenter to create a new series (I haven’t created one since college in 2014!), and tonight I have the honor of being in the juried exhibition at BRiC Walls. Truly lucky and happy; and thank you to anyone who is still reading 😂

Idea no. 520: Imaginary.

"Boys don't cry". As a man, how many times did you hear that growing up? What adverse effects does this mentality create?

I remember being so angry all the time in middle school; from being bullied to hormonal surges. But one thing I made sure I didn't do? Cry. You could only permit yourself to cry at funerals, at least that's what I told myself anyway.

The idea is that so many men hold onto this mentality of being 'manly' and quite literally drown themselves in their own feelings, when all it takes is to break the surface and let it out. I wanted to juxtapose the idea of manliness with my model crying mascara, which is considered feminine (and a running joke that true men only shed one tear from one eye, and that's it). I'm so happy I broke away from that, I cry at anything now 😂

Headspace exhibition premieres tonight at @capecoralartcenter and my series /men/tal is on display. It would mean the world to me if you're in the area and can make it. I have one more piece that I can't wait to share with everyone.

"This is not hollywood", shot on a Canon D6, 2022, edition of 1 for sale.

Social media didn’t help. I would scroll endlessly, seeing everyone living their best lives. Traveling, dream jobs, falling in love, etc. I just felt like I was at rock bottom, and all I could do was look up at everyone up on the surface, completely content with their lives, floating on.

My newest series officially premiered last Friday at the @capecoralartcenter , but unfortunately I was absent. This is the final piece shown in my ongoing series titled /men/tal. I want to continue the conversation and produce 5 more photos to complete the series, and curate my first ever solo exhibition show this year. I’m really proud of myself with this series, and I’m energized to work on even more series in the near future!

To anyone who can relate to these photos currently, I hope you can open up and speak with someone. It feels so good to be on the surface now.

“Suffocate”, GoPro Hero3, 2022, editioned prints of 2 for sale.

Idea no. 171: Sterben.

Concept art has always fascinated me, and I was envious of those who had the traditional skills to create original characters. I am a HUGE JRPG fan (tales of, xenoblade chronicles, fire emblem, etc) and love purchasing any of the art books that accompany these games.

In 2015 I downloaded RPG Maker MV and started to create my first RPG with its own unique characters! The game was called Viva la Machina, and it was influenced by Miyazaki movies that focused on nature vs machinery. It revolved around two siblings who were orphans until an incident shifted their lives forever.

This character was called Sterben, and had the power to conjure crows from his lantern that emitted purple smoke. He was more of an anti-hero character that would join the party on and off, depending if it served his needs. This photo has been on my mind since then (one of my earliest sketches)!

I actually bought this plague doctor mask off of a leather maker back in the day on Deviantart (lol). As an added bonus, I’ve been wanting to take pictures of this model forever (one of my best friends, thank you immensely for the chaos that happened that day I.S. 😂!)

Sorry for the rambling, and I can’t wait to share more upcoming news and imagery! Go team!
