One of the wildest live debut. Who said that the 1980's were all Synth and Pop ?
1984 U.S. pressing on Midnight Records label.
Auch das teure Dunlop Wah hat nur zwei Transistoren. Hm, aber das Gehäuse ist massiv und schwer und unkaputtbar. KEIN Plastik!
Here is another version of the Kay Fuzztone pedal. This time my customer wanted it in a regular enclosure instead of a wah-pedal style enclosure. I also added a volume control, an added gain stage for more output, and a switch to go from silicon to germanium diodes for a different clipping effect. I went simple with the external design but I love how it looks. Feel free to email if you'd like me to build one for you.
Graphics are a P'n'P iron-on toner transfer job. Spent more time on the box than the circuit (which I bought from Jeff Musser and messed around with a bit)
Took a long time to get this sounding right, after finding the 2G381 PNP gernanium transistors. It's a 3V Maestro variant circuit, but has a lot more gain than the Fuzztone.
In Nov 2010 I got it out again and discovered I had one of the transistors in wrong and a problem with the power connection. Now it roars with the best of 'em. Great thick crude 1966 fuzz! Self-oscillates on full depth/fuzz with some guitars.

circuit board with components painted brown - I suspect it's a direct copy of the Maestro Fuzztone. it sounds very similar, and these look like RCA 2N270 transistors

BIOGRAPHY
The band was created in 1996 by Alex Berekos, both guitarist and singer of the Rockabilly group "The Blue Jeans," initially as a Link Wray Tribute Band. In 1996, they released their first 7 inch, titled "It Won't Last Forever," which featured three tracks. With their sizzling instrumental tracks, they managed to attract a much greater audience which increased in numbers with every passing day; resulting, thus, in their performing side-by-side with great names such as the Cramps, the Fuzztones, Dead Moon, Apollo 440, the Flaming Stars, Marky Ramone, Supergrass, Question Mark and the Mysterians. In 2002, they released their first album, "Dogs Killa Cat," which featured 12 original tracks including Link Wray's "Rumble" and "Malaguena." From 2004 and onwards, the Invisible Surfers under management of Andreas Zorbas (in NYC) changed gears and hit the US market. They managed to seal a split CD deal with No Fun Records (in Detroit) with the participation of the Argentinean group "Los Kahunas." They are also participating in three compilations by three different record labels with the following tracks: "Too Many Talk" featured in the compilation "Diggy Diggy Dead" by Rubble Records (in Texas), "Akis Panou" featured in the 7 inch by the Fuzz'n'Surf Records (in Germany) and "Trippin' Out of You" featured in a DVD, titled "I Was a Teenage Monster T-Shirt Painter" and dedicated to Von Franco, which will be released by Mad Society Music (in California).
