The 'Autumn joy' sedum draws lots of butterflies when their blossoms open. This Checkered white butterfly (Pontia protodice) was kind enough to let me get a closeup. Most of the butterflies are so skittish that approaching is quite difficult. I suppose those defensive mechanisms need to be strong to survive.

In The Avian world the future seems to be a very strong driving force as they do their best to carry on and prolong the species. It is always sad to me when I hear of one more species becoming extinct. There are so many reasons for this happening but I hope we will do our best to protect and encourage these beautiful birds and are always respectful of them !!

I'd like to dedicate this series of Faroese photos to poor Madeleine (a.k.a. Pushapoze (MASA)), who had booked and so looked forward to a trip to the Faroe Islands earlier this year. But then a certain virus turned up. I hope she will eventually be able to visit the islands in a not too distant future.

Shanghai skyline at night with a touch of Blade Runner mood to it and hence the title. I remember watching movies back in the eighties where various visions of the future were presented and the cities often looked dark, glowing and with strange futuristic architecture. In some ways that future is now. Looking at Shanghai city at might, I could not help but feel taken forward in time.
