Part holiday card, part “death star” homage, this year’s collection of kid pics was initially inspired by zero g's popular "Star Wars" collage.
I started out messing around with some of last year's pics and pulling groups of them together. I didn't want the resolution to be limiting and before long had stitched together about 150 images in a huge 6x6 mosaic using about active 75 layers. (No offense intended to the friends/family diminished and/or skewed near the edges of the sphere.)
The ultraviolet image of the Sun comes from the TRACE Observatory. The Earth was downloaded from NASA’s spectacular Blue Marble mosaic. The sphere effect results from a simple Adobe CS3/photoshop filter.
It was March 2020 and we had an extended family ski trip out to Big White in British Columbia planned. We were five adults and three teenagers. On the monday of that week COVID hit. BIg White shut down, our flights were cancelled. We were stranded approximately 4,000 km from home.
My wife suggested we try to rent some RV's (camper vans, recreational vehicles) and drive home. So we did.
The pictures in this album are from that adventure.
what does the future hold?
i wish that it would be happy.
i wish it were divine.
One thing I know, each day brings us closer to it.
The inevitable end that would usher in new life.
Smoking girls prove to be an attractive subject once again. And this time she's not even blonde! Yet another mistery...

My project for today is to make a big pot of three bean chili to divide up and put in the freezer for future use.
My trusty battery operated opener makes it so much easier to open the cans without tabs - making it a "can do" project.

"Future Navigation" This is my light painting photo shot from last night while enjoying the pleasant mild weather. Time travel into the future can be tricky business.... When attempting to travel into the future, navigation can be quite problematic. Just get and use a handful of magic dust and blow it into the winds of time. This dust is essential to find your intended course of travel if you want to find your future destination. Also, don't forget your time belt.....more on the time belt at a later time....
Today is April 15 and allegedly Spring in Wisconsin. Iron Cat is distraught because the gale winds, sleet, and snow have turned his head upside down. In light of this, I'll post a record of the present, then consider the past and future.
I feel that I have fallen into a George R.R. Martin novel and "Winter is Coming".
Yes, this shot was taken in the past. It represents our trip to the Four Corners area of the American Southwest and begins Thursday in Albuquerque. I'm excited!
BTW-The day was sunny and warm, not like today's conditions.
N6055W is apparently destined for service with the Fresno County Sheriff's aviation unit. Caught me off guard while shooting static shots of the H-19 hulk parked nearby, hence the higher shutter speed.

I ran out of time today, it was nearly dark when I shot this handheld at 1/50 and f/2.8, with fiddly kids that can't be still for a sec it was bound to be a bit blurry, but I still like it.

Is this classic logo on borrowed time? It sure seems like it might be. So just like signs and trucks now is the time to document fuel tanks...because guaranteed this will lose its image in favor of Canadian Pacific's (if the seemingly inevitable happens) long before the last Southern Belle painted unit graces the rails.
This particular fuel tank is beside the Knoche Yard diesel shop in Kansas City Southern's historic hometown and headquarters city.

Lego Future Foundation. Mr. Fantastic/Invisble Woman/Thing are knock off from ebay. Spiderman is a Muddy River Minifigs custom. Doctor Doom is my own design using custom parts.
The Museum of the Future in Dubai is a landmark that explores how society could evolve in the coming decades using science and technology. It is located along Sheikh Zayed Road and offers a journey through possible futures, allowing visitors to bring hope and knowledge back to the present. The building itself is an architectural marvel, recognized by National Geographic as one of the most beautiful museums in the world. It has floors dedicated to distinct experiences, including immersive exhibitions on outer space resource development, ecosystems and bioengineering, and health, wellness, and spirituality.
Amtrak's daily California Zephyr train #6 works its way around Big 10 Curve with the future of long distance passenger service also on the train. ALC-42 #300 is trailing 3rd between what it will eventually replace on the rails
I'm a bit worried as to what he's about to pull ou tof his sleeves.
Long exposure studio lighting/light painting combo. Beauty dish with grid above and to the left, long skinny soft box (in tall mode) to the right and a foam reflector below and in front of Adam to help fill the shadows a touch.
The light painting involved an acrylic sheet with an orange gel attached and a head torch in flash mode held to it's base. Just add interpretative dance and you have magical streaks!
The magenta/purple streaks are courtesy of my cold cathode rig. Good clean fun.
