Butlins holiday camp near Skegness in Lincolnshire was opened in April 1936 and today it remains as one of the three Butlins resorts still operating. The camp underwent major refurbishments from the mid-1980’s and in 1987 was rebranded as Butlins Funcoast World. The renovations cost some £14 million and included new outdoor and indoor swimming pools. Along with its sister resorts at Bognor Regis and Minehead, all three Butlins holiday resorts underwent further major renovations during 1998 and in 1999, Butlins Funcoast World was rebranded and reopened as Butlins Resort Skegness.

The new indoor swimming pool was named Funsplash and included an elaborate waterslide that forms part of the design of this badge. This souvenir badge would have been available for sale to visitors at Funcoast World.
