Test shot with Nikon D4 + Nikon AF DC-Nikkor 135mm f/2D. The primary goal was to test the sharpness of the older 130/2 lens with the 16MP sensor in the D4.
At a distance of 1m, the DoF with this lens at f/2 is only 5.7mm, much less than even some of the famous shallow DoF lenses such as the Nikkor 85/1.4G, Nikkor NOCT 58/1.2, or even Leica Noctilux 50/0.95. At a distance of 3m (~10 feet), the DoF increases to 5.7cm or 2.25 inches.
So it is easy to see large areas of the image apparently OOF, but the reality is, sharpness is highly contained to the area of focus, unless the lens is stopped down.
For anyone interested in the image quality from this camera/lens, I have uploaded the full 16.2MP high-res version of the image at 90% JPEG quality.

A BUNCH OF FUN
Here are the steps...
1. Wet paper
2. Throw/spatter in some paint, one color at a time, and spray with misty sprayer.
3. Tip paper and blow on it to get it to send out shapes
4. Drag a fingernail, or reverse end of brush, or stick, through wet areas.
KEEPING IN MIND ALL THE TIME THAT YOU WANT TO LEAVE A LOT OF WHITE SPACES WITHIN YOUR FOCUS AREA AND AROUND THE EDGES AS YOU SEE HERE.
5. Let dry
6. Add more color as needed, using spray and brush to help make shapes. LEAVE WHITE SPACES!
7. Look for forming shapes to help them along. LEAVE WHITE SPACES.
8. Let dry
9. Find the shapes with pen and ink....you might need to turn the paper upside down even.
10. Add more colors/shading as needed.
ONE MORE TIP.....STOP before you think you are done!...:) :) :)
See what ''quirkyartist'' did....:)
Flower fun - the blobby bokeh behind the flower come from the leaves of the tree behind. Just in the back garden
How could I ever ask her to go home when she's having so much fun??? Thankfully the rain motivated her to leave without a tantrum

When your friend takes a picture of you Hahahaha 3rd one is hilarious and when Mateo makes a creepy faces hahaha and those are my best friend. Love you meagan<43 I don't wear make up today and so I look disgusting
so i'm down at the river and i see this 2-3 yr old doe munching on a downed tree...she spots me taking pic's and starts coming over to investigate....she slowly walks around behind me, gets closer and starts splashing the water maybe 10-20 feet away....didn't want her coming any closer so i did a little shoo away move toward her.....now normally when you make a move toward a deer they take off.....not this one....it moved away a bit then came back, started jumping around, splashing and then staring at me....so i made another move toward her and she started romping around again....this went on for about 5-10 minutes with me making a move and she reacting to it...seriously, it was like playing around with a dog and i'm pretty sure she was having fun.....she gave me one last look then headed up stream.....a lot of the shots i was taking were out of focus but what can you expect when your jumping around....easily the craziest experience i've ever had with a wild animal
