What. A. Night. I'll fully process the photos long before I can fully process it in my mind. Both candidates were hilarious and gracious. People were intimate and at-ease. If only politics were always like it was tonight.
(For those who haven't been keeping up, I was the sole non-campaign photographer allowed at tonight's Al Smith dinner, featuring both presidential candidates as well as pretty much everyone in New York politics, from Clinton and Schumer to Mo Rocca and Katie Couric.)
Not for re-use without permission.

A beautiful park called Eagle Point Park sits high on a bluff overlooking the banks of the Mississippi River in Dubuque, Iowa. The Park has many overlooks, picnic areas, limestone buildings, a very historic park indeed. There is a pond made of the limestone rock and its fully stocked with beautiful fish. ... for coolness.
Usually I absolutely dislike having cars in my pictures, but even to that rule there are exceptions.

Just so you know, I did not have to desaturate the background to get this dramatic picture. This male Halloween Pennant just happened to be perched in front of a dead bush, which was also in shadow.

A fully moated Castle in Kent built in 1385 by Sir Edward Dallingridge, Kings Knight and MP. He constructed this magnificent structure supposedly to defend against a possible French invasion.
It was damaged during the English Civil War but repaired and finally left to the National Trust by Lord Curzon in 1926.
Fully recolorable, if anybody wants to use this for anything.

The World's largest six-pack at La Crosse, Wisconsin. June 28, 1988. Back then, I would have considered trying to consume this. Nomo.

#The street market in Bury St Edmunds has a long history of a 1000 years back to before the days of William the Conqueror
#My project is an attempt to capture the atmosphere of the market , its stall holders and customers in a street photography style

BMR1959 & Fashionista #167 bodies are to thank for this. This isn’t all of them, but these are the ones I was able to pull out of my messy doll room
I would be even more pleased with this photo if I'd had time to take it fully manual with a decent ISO. But instead I was out for a drive in the Trossachs on a damp, grey day with my 2 youngest daughters Harriet (3.5yrs) & Ellie (nearly 2) strapped into the back of the car. I was on the way home late on in failing light when I spotted a scene I fancied. I cheekily pulled the car to the side of the road and hopped out and over the low wall. Aware of my daughters calling for me and a couple of vehicles slowing down to drive by my car I hastily shot maybe 20 handheld photos on auto which the camera cranked up the ISO to a grainy 12800.
It was nice to learn that you don't need stunning sunrises or sunsets to find nice conditions.

"Every child is born blessed with a vivid imagination. But just as a muscle grows flabby with disuse, so the bright imagination of a child pales in later years if he ceases to exercise it."

don't forget to press L to view on black :)
this took me the longest it has ever taken me to finish a concept edting wise and I guess this is the very first upload on my entire stream I'm actually fully happy with and, which is even more important, even a little proud of. we were shooting out in the woods yesterday after a day of a series of enormous thunder, mosquitos were nailing us and we were soaked when we got back, haha. but it was tons of fun :) we even found a tiny frog, check the comments ;)
if I had to list all the inspirations for this shot the list would quite possibly never end. the main ones are a recent dream of mine and the heartbreaking Disney quote above, though. every time his words come to my mind I tell myself that I will never end up not believing in magic and the extraordinary because its them which make life so much more interesting. it feels like I've always had a vivid imagination so I'm not actually worried :) even though the reference might not be obvious, I had the story of Little Red Riding Hood in my head when creating this which used to be one of my favorite fairy tales when growing up. I wish I'd had a red cape (I'd go crazy, I think :D).
feedback is always appreciated, enjoy the rest of the weekend! :)
