Mark Twain is very happy with this sunny day in the snow.
He is a Lagotto Romagnolo dog.
This is the only breed of dog that is officially recognized as specialized in truffle hunting.
After it kept snowing today I thought getting the sled out and taking a picture with that would be a great idea for todays Challenge ('A Child's View'). So I went to the next hill and got into position. This time just a still, but if it stays this way I will definitely do an action shot with this thing...

Today was one of the annual Friends of the East Broad Top (FEBT) gatherings. A group I belong to set up the tracks I like to run on and invited SM32 equipment, along with EBT (in Fn3), due to the location.
It was neat to run a live steam model of an EBT locomotive on the grounds of the real railroad.
I started the day with a string of 10 of my coal hoppers (AML) and later ran a mixed freight, borrowing some cars from another chap at the steam up.

Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) running full speed in a flat out sprint to chase down a prey. This chase was not successful as I understand only about 1 in 3 are. Image taken in the Auob River Valley of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in South Africa.

Each year some of the regulars return and sometimes fresh new faces appear to join the eclectic Renaissance Family. Some are vendors or employees, and some customers dress up to fit in with the renaissance festival fun and its 16th century way of life. One big happy family of a few thousand escaping the dull drums of their daily life for a few hours. This year's crop of new faces was lovely. Hope you enjoy the images. I try to capture their joy. Always fun, festive, very colorful and exciting!

1-Day 6-Hr Event Coverage (Slide Show):
The camera mounted on a stand with a preset focus triggered by the remote control. The same technique as in the previous set, but this is more difficult since they are moving perpendicular relative the camera axis, i.e. they are in and out of the frame very fast.
This was a short session, they soon went to bed, so there is room for improvement.
Strobist note: Key light; SB 25 1/4, behind and to the right. Fill; SB 25 1/8 bounced in a white umbrella, to the right. Triggered by ebay remotes.
