The building with the tower is Granville House and has quite a history,

It was built as a hotel in 1867, In January 1915, the Granville was requisitioned by the Government and became The Granville Canadian Special Hospital. It mainly treated patients suffering from shell shock, nerve injuries and injuries to bones and joints. In April 1917 the hospital accommodated 809 wounded Canadian soldiers. The hospital closed in the same year and was relocated to Buxton, Derbyshire.

A corner of the hotel was destroyed by enemy action on 12 November 1940. The building had closed and was fortunately empty during the raid. In 1947, the hotel was converted into flats and renamed Granville House.

The building sits on network of caves and nearby tunnels that were modified in 1939. The bomb damaged corner was rebuilt in 2004 by Oakleigh Developments Ltd and became Granville Court.

We of course just know it as the Granville and the Granville theatre is just across the road.

The windfarm can be seen on the horizon.

My thanks for all visits and comments I do appreciate it.

I didn't expect to see Orioles in the desert during the summertime, but apparently some have stayed. My neighbor has water running all the time to water his Cottonwood trees and has created a small oasis for birds. Lucky me!

As far as the clichés in photography go, this is certainly not a new one. Many have already captured Marine Drive in a panorama, but that obviously does not stop one to try it again!

It took eleven separate photographs and almost 45 minutes on Photoshop to stitch them into how it looks like now.

Magical Healing Mantra: Om Mani Padme Hum

Just wanted to share this little story that really feels like a little gift and blessing to me (even though to some it may just seem like a coincidence.)

I remember a few weeks back - when I started taking my first spider/web shots in my neighbourhood (after the rain) I had noticed that I couldn't find any with pretty flowers in the background. So next I went to the house (a very posh house - that I like to admire regularly), in my neighbourhood that has a beautiful garden with roses most of the year round. I looked for webs there, but I still couldn't find any. Whilst finishing that photography session, I found myself thinking - it would really be wonderful if I could find roses with beautiful webs full of raindrops around them.

And then a couple of days later when I went past this same house/garden - there it was as you can see in the above picture. And not only did I find these but also my spider web dream catcher images that I showed you ealier - as shown below (these were across the street from this house). Of course, I didn't hesitate and went straight back home and got my camera to get these shots. I was so happy and pleased about these as it almost felt like it was a special gift from my spider friends - and/or from something more divine.

To add to this story, I have also not been happy with where I have been living for quite a while - but have felt that I would never find a better place that would be within my means. But to my surprise last week I came across an advert for a place that was unusually lower priced for what you could get for it. So I thought the least I could do is have a look. I am really pleased I looked because it turned out to be not only so much better in quality, space and beauty - but strangely enough very close to the posh house with the diamond web roses above. So now I have myself a new lovely home to move to and it really feels like a wonderful coincidence that I can only see as blessings and gifts and for which I am very thankful. Currently I am in the midst of moving to my new home - so my catching up will be even more slower. Your patience therefore would be much appreciated.

I wish you, my dear flickr friends a very happy weekend that is also filled with wonderful blessings and gifts that will bring great warmth and happiness to your hearts : )) xo

Thank you my dear flickr friends for your kind and lovely ongoing comments, invites and awards. I appreciate them a lot. I will try and finish my catching up over the next few days on and off. Here is an interesting and beautiful moment I captured a couple of days ago. It's of a hovercraft lit up by the sunset. I love how the people's silhouettes look through the window - and the water spray that looks like steam from a dragons nostrils. Together with the noise it makes, I am sure the local birds and creatures must believe it's a ferocious dragon to keep well clear of. I imagine they even share tales (perhaps scary bedtime stories) amongst themselves about their close encounters with this dragon. And how heroically they outsmarted and fought it off, and led many of their fellow birds away from its approach just in the nick of time.

I have tried various crops as I couldn't decide whether its better to try and make the people more visible or whether to keep it in its original form and include reflections of the sunset. Please don't hesistate to let me know what you think. Wishing you a very happy and beautiful weekend my dears : )) xo
