Rework of a classic Winter event in Cincinnati

16x20" digital commission (2020)

We aren't too keen on Xmas in our house, but we make some concessions, and one is the tree.

For many years we had a large artificial "pine" tree, which took hours to

assemble, and then needed to be stored in a large box for most of the

year.

Out with the old and in with the new. Here you can see me "assembling" the new tree we have used for about 10 years now.

Merry Xmas to everyone.

Oh So Shiny Theme

Well this was by far my favorite balloon of the few that appeared at the event. All I can say is there were alot of bugs and a familiar face from flickr: Michael Pancier (scrohiba). It was a pleasure to meet him and talk to him in general. I have a few more I want to show but rather start with a shot of this clown balloon I have dubbed AIRHEAD.

Cheers!

This photo is quite different from what I usually do, but learning and evolving is very important.

This photo actually led to quite a few amusing moment. I had 42 balloons at my disposal one afternoon (as you do) and decided to set off on a little self-portrait adventure. So, I loaded all 42 balloons into my little car and set off. Many passers-by gave me an odd expression, and eventually I ended up at a river, right on sunset. So out I hopped, and stood by the waters edge. Just as I tied the balloon strings around my head, a river cruise ship went on by, full of drunk teenagers celebrating graduation. For about 5 minutes, as it slowly headed up river, I had a continual barrage of comments shouted at me. After they had finally passed, the sun was at the perfect point in the sky, moments away from being engulfed by the surrounding mountain range, and I took this.

All of this was totally worth the laughs I got from the experience, not to mention this photo, which I am very happy with.

I hope you all enjoy.

This person had some killer shoes on. I find it hard to walk in trainers!

Blah, blah, blah, jesus, blah, repent, blah. Nobody cared what you were saying today my friend. They were too busy having fun and being happy.

The inside of a hot air balloon, inflating.

These things were not meant to be grounded. The minute this one touched the earth it seemed to want to leave it again. It resisted as long as it could, and then finally gave in. I kind of felt bad for it.

I'm sure that I could write something cheesy here comparing this balloon to our lives, but I'm not going to. :)

Last spring and summer became to much for Roger's Diversion Dam, it was washed out, and made it hard for farmers in the lower valley to get irrigation water. Spring 2006 there was a great abundance of water in Rye Patch reservoir.........so much that they had to let out waters that flooded below the dam.

Until this little diversion dam is done the little water going into the river now at Rye Patch, is being diverted into the ditch.

... two hearts...

... what a lot of balls :D

Lady Liberty's fast lifestyle is finally catching up with her.

This young lady was taking her blow up doll for a piggyback ride around the parade.
