Alexander in Wash House at Wee Jimmy's stall. I've been photographing at the Barras for years now and I always see Alexander there, he's a really nice guy who used to be a extra in Tagart. Every time I see him he has a different look. This was taken on a miserable winters day back in November 2016. I was walking around the market for ages just trying to get warm and I had my SLR with me and some Fuji Superia 400 35mm.
The day wasn't going well and I had pretty much given up on photographing for the day but I wasn't really bothered, it was nice just to walk around the market and chat with folk. Then I bumped into Alexander in the rickety old Wash House, part of the roof was damaged, so the rain was just pouring into a tiny bucket someone had placed under the roof. We chatted for a bit then I took this portrait of him. There was a few folk in Jimmy's stall just having laugh and drinking tea so we joined in.
After a while, I went outside and it was dark at 3.30pm and really rainy. After this, I photographed the empty rainy streets for a while. That's about all I can remember from that day.
Sadly the Wash House as seen here is now gone. There always seemed to be a lot of banter and mischief amongst the traders there.
